We investigate the regularity of solutions of first order Hamilton-Jacobi equation with super linear growth in the gradient variable. We show that the solutions are locally Hölder continuous with Hölder exponent depending only on the growth of the Hamiltonian. The proof relies on a reverse Hölder inequality.

In this paper, we study the explicit superlinear convergence rates of quasi-Newton methods. We particularly focus on the classical Broyden's method for solving nonlinear equations. We establish its explicit (local) superlinear convergence rate when the initial point is close enough to a solution and the initial Jacobian approximation is also close enough to the exact Jacobian related to the solution. In this paper, we propose the greedy and random Broyden's method for solving nonlinear equations. Specifically, the greedy method greedily selects the direction to maximize a certain measure of progress for approximating the current Jacobian matrix, while the random method randomly chooses a direction. This paper provides new theoretical connections between multi-time Hamilton-Jacobi partial differential equations and variational image decomposition models in imaging sciences. We show that the minimal values of these optimization problems are governed by multi-time Hamilton-Jacobi partial differential equations. We consider the optimal control of solutions of first order Hamilton-Jacobi equations, where the Hamiltonian is convex with linear growth. This models the problem of steering the propagation of a front by constructing an obstacle. We prove existence of minimizers to this optimization problem as in a relaxed setting and characterize the minimizers as weak solutions to a mean field game type system of coupled partial differential equations. This problems arises from a calculus of variations' problem with a multicriteria Lagrangian function: through an embedding into a set-valued framework, a set-valued Hamilton-Jacobi equation is derived, where the Hamiltonian function is the Fenchel conjugate of the Lagrangian function.
