We study classical and quantum aspects of electromagnetic perturbations on black hole space-times. We develop an elegant formalism introduced by Wald, which sets up the theory of linear perturbations in a Type-D background in a compact and transparent manner. We derive expressions for the electromagnetic potential in terms of the single Newman-Penrose scalar ϕ_0.This enables the formulation of the quantum theory of the electromagnetic field as that of a complex scalar field.
We study the separable field equations obeyed by the various Newman-Penrose scalars in the Kerr-Newman background and find, for various limits, the asymptotic behaviour of the radial and angular solutions. We correct and build on a study by Breuer, Ryan and Waller to find a uniformly valid asymptotic behaviour for large frequency of the angular solutions and the eigenvalues.
We follow Candelas, Chrzanowski and Howard (CCH) in their canonical quantization of the electromagnetic potential and field. We perform an asymptotic analysis of the form of the renormalized stress-energy tensor (RSET) in the past Boulware state close to the horizon. Unlike results in CCH, its leading order behaviour close to the horizon corresponds to minus the stress tensor of a thermal distribution at the Hawking temperature rigidly rotating with the horizon. We prove that expressions in CCH for the expectation value of the stress tensor in the past Boulware, past Unruh and |CCH> states lead to a lack of symmetry of the RSET under parity, even though this is a symmetry of the physical system. We derive the correct symmetric expressions and present a detailed analysis of the resulting RSETs.
We check the weak cosmic censorship conjecture by attempting to overspin the Kerr-Newman-Kasuya black hole with test particle. The study suggests that the Kerr-Newman-Kasuya black hole can be over-spun showing the violation of cosmic censorship conjecture.
A three-dimensional light-like foliation of a spacetime geometry is one particular way of studying its light cone structure and has important applications in numerical relativity. In this paper, we execute such a foliation for the Kerr-Newman-AdS black hole geometry and compare it with the lightlike foliations of the Kerr-AdS and Kerr-Newman black holes. We derive the equations that govern this slicing and study their properties. In particular, we find that these null hypersurfaces develop caustics inside the inner horizon of the Kerr-Newman-AdS black hole, in strong contrast to the Kerr-AdS c…
The second-order post-Newtonian solution for the light propagation in the field of Kerr-Newman black hole is achieved via an iterative method. Based on this result, we further obtain the second-order post-Newtonian light deflection in Kerr-Newman spacetime, which is formulated in an united form for any arbitrarily incident directions. All results are exhibited in the coordinate system constituted by the initial light-direction vector, the impact vector, and their cross-product.
The explicit form for the post-Newtonian gravitational time delay of light signals propagating on the equatorial plane of a Kerr-Newman black hole is derived. Based on the null geodesic in Kerr-Newman spacetime, we adopt the iterative method to calculate the time delay. Our result reduces to the previous formulation for Kerr black hole if we drop off the contribution from the electrical charge. Our time-delay formula for the Reissner-Nordström geometry is different from the previous publication [Phys. Rev. D 69, 023002 (2004)], in which the largest second-order contribution to the time delay i…
In this article, the superradiation stability of Kerr-Newman black holes is discussed by introducing the condition used in Kerr black holes y into them. Moreover, the motion equation of the minimal coupled scalar perturbation in a Kerr-Newman black hole is divided into angular and radial parts. Hod proved\cite{12} that the Kerr black hole should be superradiantly stable under massive scalar perturbation when $μ\ge \sqrt{2}mΩ_H$, where $μ$ is the mass. In this article, a new variable y is added here to expand the results of the above article. When $\sqrt{2(a^2+Q^2)}/{r^2_+}< ω< m\varOmega_H+q\v…
The superradiant stability of a Kerr-Newman black hole and charged massive scalar perturbation is investigated. We treat the black hole as a background geometry and study the equation of motion of the scalar perturbation. From the radial equation of motion, we derive the effective potential experienced by the scalar perturbation. By a careful analysis of this effective potential, it is found that when the inner and outer horizons of Kerr-Newman black hole satisfy $\frac{r_-}{r_+}\leqslant\frac{1}{3}$ and the charge-to-mass ratios of scalar perturbation and black hole satisfy $ \frac{q}{μ}\frac…
We find a new class of exact solutions in the Einstein-Maxwell theory by employing the Ernst magnetization process to the Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT spacetimes. We study the solutions and find that they are regular everywhere. We also find the quasilocal conserved quantities for the spacetimes, the corresponding Smarr formula and the first law of thermodynamics.
It is very important to calculate the amount of radiation from a black hole as the radiation from a black hole contributes to its entropy. In this paper I have calculated the Entropy of a black hole from the action. I have used path integral formalism to calculate the second order perturbation of the metric in the action for a generalized Kerr-Newman metric.
We show that the study of hidden conformal symmetry that associates to the Kerr/CFT correspondence can also apply to the cosmological horizon in Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT-de Sitter spacetime. This symmetry allows one to employ some two dimensional conformal field theory methods to understand the properties of the cosmological horizon. The entropy can be understood by using the Cardy formula, and the equation for scattering process in the near region has an agreement with the one obtained from a two point function in two dimensional conformal field theory. We also show that pair production can occur…
In the present paper, within the framework of stationary axisymmetric spacetimes, binary systems composed of two unequal co- and counter-rotating extreme Kerr-Newman black holes separated by a massless strut are reported. The metric describing both configurations is introduced in a closed analytical form in terms of five arbitrary parameters: the masses $M_{i}$, electric charges $Q_{i}$, and a coordinate distance $R$. We obtain novel results from these configurations; in particular, those related to the merging process.
Using the notion of thermodynamic length, the first law of thermodynamics is consistently derived for two binary configurations of equal Kerr-Newman black holes separated by a massless strut. Like in the electrostatic systems of two Reissner-Nordström black holes and stationary vacuum systems of two Kerr black holes considered earlier, the thermodynamic length $\ell$ turns out to be defined by the same simple formula $\ell=L\exp(γ_0)$, $L$ being the coordinate length of the strut and $γ_0$ the value of the metric function $γ$ on the strut, which permits the elaboration of $\ell$ in a concise a…
In this paper, we revisit the possibilities of Bañados-Silk-West (BSW) effect in Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT (KNTN) spacetime for two neutral particles moving over the equatorial plane and constant $θ$ in Boyer-Lindquist coordinate. Contrary to a previous study on this topic, we found that BSW effect for two particles confined to move over the equatorial plane is not possible. Numerical calculations shows that BSW effect in constant $θ$ geodesics is possible under certain circumstances.
Using the adiabatic invariant action and applying Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rule and first law of black hole thermodynamics a study of quantization of entropy and horizon area of Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black hole is carried out. The same entropy spectrum is obtained in two different coordinate systems. It is also observed that the spacing of the entropy spectrum is independent of the black hole parameters and also the corresponding quantum of horizon area is in agreement with the results of Bekenstein.
In this paper we have took reissner nordstrom blackhole with cloud of strings and surrounds it with quintessence. we processed the metric through newman janis algorithm to get its rotating counterpart. the blackhole in study now is a roating charged blackhole with clouds of string surrounded by quintessence. we studied its nature of effective potential and unstable photon orbits. Finally we have plotted the blackhole shadow for various variable profiles.
Massive bosons in the vicinity of Kerr-Newman black holes can form pure bound states when their phase angular velocity fulills the synchronisation condition, i.e. at the threshold of superradiance. The presence of these stationary clouds at the linear level is intimately linked to the existence of Kerr black holes with synchronised hair at the non-linear level. These configurations are very similar to the atomic orbitals of the electron in a hydrogen atom. They can be labeled by four quantum numbers: $n$, the number of nodes in the radial direction; $\ell$, the orbital angular momentum; $j$, t…
In this work, we study the relation of the eikonal quasinormal modes (EQNMs) and the unstable fundamental photon orbits (UFPOs) in the Kerr-Newman spacetime. We find that in the eikonal limit the gravitational and electromagnetic perturbations of the Kerr-Newman black hole are naturally decoupled, and a single one-dimensional Schrödinger-like equation encoding the QNM spectrum can be derived. We then show that the decoupled Teukolsky master equation and the Klein-Gordon equation for the massless scalar field in the Kerr-Newman spacetime are of the same form in the eikonal limit. As a direct co…
