In this communication we discuss two distinct Zeeman-type gravitomagnetic effects deserving attention since they can be easily characterized in their exact form, not via approximation procedures. Some observations are also made on gravitoelectric effects.
Membrane method is used to compute the entropy of the NUT-Kerr-Newman black holes. It is found that even though the Euler characteristic is greater than two, the Bekenstein-Hawking area law is still satisfied. The formula $S=χA/8$ relating the entropy and the Euler characteristic becomes inapplicable for non-extreme four dimensional NUT-Kerr-Newman black holes.
We find a new class of exact solutions in the Einstein-Maxwell theory by employing the Ernst magnetization process to the Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT spacetimes. We study the solutions and find that they are regular everywhere. We also find the quasilocal conserved quantities for the spacetimes, the corresponding Smarr formula and the first law of thermodynamics.
In this paper, we revisit the possibilities of Bañados-Silk-West (BSW) effect in Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT (KNTN) spacetime for two neutral particles moving over the equatorial plane and constant $θ$ in Boyer-Lindquist coordinate. Contrary to a previous study on this topic, we found that BSW effect for two particles confined to move over the equatorial plane is not possible. Numerical calculations shows that BSW effect in constant $θ$ geodesics is possible under certain circumstances.
In this paper, we investigate the center of mass energy of the collision for two neutral particles with different rest masses falling freely from rest at infinity in the background of a Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT black hole. Further, we discuss the center of mass energy near the horizon(s) of an extremal and non-extremal Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT black hole and show that an arbitrarily high center of mass energy is achievable under some restrictions. We will study the special case of the center of mass energy when the specific energy, specific angular momentum and Carter constant of both the particles ar…
We show that the study of hidden conformal symmetry that associates to the Kerr/CFT correspondence can also apply to the cosmological horizon in Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT-de Sitter spacetime. This symmetry allows one to employ some two dimensional conformal field theory methods to understand the properties of the cosmological horizon. The entropy can be understood by using the Cardy formula, and the equation for scattering process in the near region has an agreement with the one obtained from a two point function in two dimensional conformal field theory. We also show that pair production can occur…
We consider the Plebański class of electrovacuum solutions to the Einstein equations with a cosmological constant. These space-times, which are also known as the Kerr-Newman-NUT-(anti-)de Sitter space-times, are characterized by a mass $m$, a spin $a$, a parameter $β$ that comprises electric and magnetic charge, a NUT parameter $\ell$ and a cosmological constant $Λ$. Based on a detailed discussion of the photon regions in these space-times (i.e., of the regions in which spherical lightlike geodesics exist), we derive an analytical formula for the shadow of a Kerr-Newman-NUT-(anti-)de Sitter bl…
The null geodesics that describe photon orbits in the spacetime of a rotating electrically charged black hole (Kerr-Newman) are solved exactly including the contribution from the cosmological constant. We derive elegant closed form solutions for relativistic observables such as the deflection angle and frame dragging effect that a light ray experiences in the gravitational fields (i) of a Kerr-Newman black hole and (ii) of a Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black hole. We then solve the more involved problem of treating a Kerr-Newman black hole as a gravitational lens, i.e. a KN black hole along with a s…
The exact frame-dragging (or Lense-Thirring (LT) precession) rates for Kerr, Kerr-Taub-NUT (KTN) and Taub-NUT spacetimes have been derived. Remarkably, in the case of the `zero angular momentum' Taub-NUT spacetime, the frame-dragging effect is shown not to vanish, when considered for spinning test gyroscope. In the case of the interior of the pulsars, the exact frame-dragging rate monotonically decreases from the center to the surface along the pole and but it shows an `anomaly' along the equator. Moving from the equator to the pole, it is observed that this `anomaly' disappears after crossing…
An exact expression derived in the literature for the rate of dragging of inertial frames (Lense-Thirring (LT) precession) in a general stationary spacetime, is reviewed. The exact LT precession frequencies for Kerr, Kerr-Taub-NUT and Taub-NUT spacetimes are explicitly derived. Remarkably, in the case of the zero angular momentum Taub-NUT spacetime, the frame-dragging effect is shown {\it not} to vanish, when considered for spinning test gyroscopes. The result becomes sharper for the case of vanishing ADM mass of that spacetime. We clarify how our results are consistent with claims in the rece…
We derive area product, entropy product, area sum and entropy sum of the event horizon and Cauchy horizons for Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT(Newman-Unti-Tamburino) black hole in four dimensional \emph{Lorentzian geometry}. We observe that these thermodynamic products are \emph{not} universal(mass-independence) for this black hole(BH), whereas for Kerr-Newman(KN) BH such products are universal (mass-independence). We also examine the entropy sum and area sum. It is shown that they all are depends on mass, charge and NUT parameter of the back ground space-time. Thus we can conclude that the universal(mas…
The spacetime properties in the exterior of the Kerr-Newman-NUT-Kiselev black hole in the Rastall theory of gravity, through particle dynamics are investigated with the aim to find possible degeneracy of the different black hole parameters. We show that the effective potential, the energy, and the angular momentum of a test particle moving in the spacetime of such a black hole strongly depend on the central black hole parameters. We also evaluate the innermost stable circular orbit radii of test particles and show how the spacetime parameters can act on them. Further, we show the results for t…
We study the Hawking thermal spectrum in dragging coordinate system and the tunneling radiation characteristics of hot NUT-Kerr-Newman-Kasuya spacetime. The tunneling rates at the event and cosmological horizon are found to be related to the change of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. The radiation spectrum is not pure thermal and thus there is a correction to the Hawking thermal spectrum.
We find generators of the conformal symmetry for the class of Kerr-Newman-NUT-AdS black holes from the deformed scalar probe equation. We find two classes of solutions for the generators (also known as conformal J and Q pictures). The two classes of deformed generators are the extension of similar generators for the regular conformal symmetry. Moreover, we find that the two pictures can be generalized and extended into a general picture. In each picture, the generators produce an extended local family of SL(2,R)_L \times SL(2,R)_R hidden conformal symmetries for the Kerr-Newman-NUT-AdS black h…
An electromagnetic analog of the Kerr-Newman solution in general relativity is derived, based on Minkowski's formulation for electromagnetic fields in moving media. The equivalent system is a distribution of charges and currents largely localized within a spinning disk of radius a. This occurs in a rotating medium of inhomogeneous index of refraction and "frame dragging" at exactly half the angular velocity of the electrical charge.
We investigate the redshift and blueshift of light emitted by timelike geodesic particles in orbits around a Kerr-Newman-(anti) de Sitter (KN(a)dS) black hole. Specifically we compute the redshift and blueshift of photons that are emitted by geodesic massive particles and travel along null geodesics towards a distant observer-located at a finite distance from the KN(a)dS black hole. For this purpose we use the Killing-vector formalism and the associated first integrals-constants of motion. We consider in detail stable timelike equatorial circular orbits of stars and express their corresponding…
In this work, we perform a detailed analysis of the equatorial motion of the charged test particles in Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT spacetime. By working out the orbit equation in the radial direction, we examine possible orbit types. We investigate the conditions for existence of bound orbits in causality-preserving region as well as the conditions for existence of circular orbits for charged and uncharged particles. We also study the effect of NUT parameter on Newtonian orbits. Finally, we give exact analytical solutions of equations of equatorial motion for a charged test particle.
We show the generic non-extremal Kerr-Newman-NUT-AdS black holes are holographically dual to the hidden conformal field theories in two different pictures. The two pictures can be merged together to the dual CFTs in general picture, that are generated by the $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ modular group. We also extend the calculation to the extremal limit and find the corresponding quantities. Using the extended central charges from the Kerr/CFT correspondence, we also find agreement between the macroscopic and microscopic entropies. We also find the absorption cross-section of the scalar probes for the g…
We study the motion of test particles and electromagnetic waves in the Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT spacetime in order to elucidate some of the effects associated with the gravitomagnetic monopole moment of the source. In particular, we determine in the linear approximation the contribution of this monopole to the gravitational time delay and the rotation of the plane of the polarization of electromagnetic waves. Moreover, we consider "spherical" orbits of uncharged test particles in the Kerr-Taub-NUT spacetime and discuss the modification of the Wilkins orbits due to the presence of the gravitomagnet…
In this work, we study the motion of charged test particles in Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT spacetime. We analyze the angular and the radial parts of the orbit equations and examine the possible orbit types. We also investigate the spherical orbits and their stabilities. Furthermore, we obtain the analytical solutions of the equations of motion and express them in terms of Jacobian and Weierstrass elliptic functions. Finally, we discuss the observables of the bound motion and calculate the perihelion shift and Lense-Thirring effect for three dimensional bound orbits.
In this review we present the most general form of the Janis--Newman algorithm. This extension allows to generate configurations which contain all bosonic fields with spin less than or equal to two (real and complex scalar fields, gauge fields, metric field) and with five of the six parameters of the Plebański-Demiański metric (mass, electric charge, magnetic charge, NUT charge and angular momentum). Several examples are included to illustrate the algorithm. We also discuss the extension of the algorithm to other dimensions.
The analysis of singular regions in the NUT solutions carried out in the recent paper (Manko and Ruiz, 2005 Class. Quantum Grav. 22, p.3555) is now extended to the Demianski-Newman vacuum and electrovacuum spacetimes. We show that the effect which produces the NUT parameter in a more general situation remains essentially the same as in the purely NUT solutions: it introduces the semi-infinite singularities of infinite angular momenta and positive or negative masses depending on the interrelations between the parameters; the presence of the electromagnetic field additionally endows the singular…
We extend the topological Kerr-Newman-aDS solutions by including NUT charge and find generalizations of the Robinson-Bertotti solution to the negative cosmological constant case with different topologies. We show how all these solutions can be obtained as limits of the general Plebanski-Demianski solution. We study the supersymmetry properties of all these solutions in the context of gauged N=2,d=4 supergravity. Generically they preserve at most 1/4 of the total supersymmetry. In the Plebanski-Demianski case, although gauged N=2,d=4 supergravity does not have electric-magnetic duality, we find…
We study the Hawking radiation as charged particles' tunneling across the horizons of the Hot-NUT-Kerr-Newman-Kasuya spacetime by considering the spacetime background as dynamical and incorporating the self-gravitation effect of the emitted particles when the energy conservation, the angular momentum conservation, and the electric charge conservation are taken into account. Our result shows that the tunneling rate is related to the change of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and the radiant spectrum is not pure thermal, but is consistent with an underlying unitary theory. The emission process is a re…
In this paper we investigate the equatorial causal (time-like and null) circular geodesics of the Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT(Newman-Unti-Tamburino) black hole in four dimensional Lorentzian geometry. The special characteristics of this black hole is that it is of \emph{Petrov-Pirani type D} and the photon trajectories are \emph{doubly degenerate principal null congruence}. We derive the conditions for existence of innermost stable circular orbit, marginally bound circular orbit and circular photon orbit in the background of Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT(KNTN) space-time. The effective potential for both time…
The Cauchy horizon forming colliding wave solution due to Chandrasekhar and Xanthopoulos (CX) has been generalized by inclusion of the NUT (Newman - Unti - Tamburino) parameter. This is done by transforming the part of the inner horizon region of a Kerr-Newman-NUT black hole into the space of colliding waves. By taking appropriate combination of Killing vectors and analytically extending beyond the Cauchy horizon the time-like hyperbolic sigularities are resolved as well. This provides another example of its kind among the type - D metrics with special emphasis on the role of the NUT parameter…
In this work we have presented a special class of Kerr-Newman-NUT black hole, having its horizon located precisely at $r=2M$, for $Q^{2}=l^{2}-a^{2}$, where $M$, $l$, $a$ and $Q$ are respectively mass, NUT, rotation and electric charge parameters of the black hole. Clearly this choice radically alters the causal structure as there exists no Cauchy horizon indicating spacelike nature of the singularity when it exists. On the other hand, there is no curvature singularity for $l^2 > a^2$, however it may have conical singularities. Furthermore there is no upper bound on specific rotation parameter…
We compute area (or entropy) product formula for Newman-Unti-Tamburino (NUT) class of black holes. Specifically, we derive the area product of outer horizon and inner horizon (${ \mathcal{H}}^{\pm }$) for Taub-NUT, Euclidean Taub-NUT black hole, Reissner-Nordström--Taub-NUT black hole, Kerr-Taub-NUT black hole and Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT black hole under the formalism developed very recently by Wu et al. \cite{wu} [PRD 100, 101501(R) (2019)]. The formalism is that a generic four dimensional Taub-NUT spacetime should be described completely in terms of three or four different types of thermodynami…
We compute the \emph{surface energy~(${\cal E}_{s}^{\pm}$), the rotational energy~(${\cal E}_{r}^{\pm}$) and the electromagnetic energy~(${\cal E}_{em}^{\pm}$)} for Newman-Unti-Tamburino~(NUT) class of black hole having the event horizon~(${\cal H}^{+}$) and the Cauchy horizon~(${\cal H}^{-}$). Remarkably, we find that the \emph{mass parameter can be expressed as sum of three energies i. e. $M={\cal E}_{s}^{\pm}+{\cal E}_{r}^{\pm}+{\cal E}_{em}^{\pm}$}. It has been \emph{tested} for Taub-NUT black hole, Reissner-Nordström-Taub-NUT black hole, Kerr-Taub-NUT black hole and Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT b…
We present a new twisted rotating black hole solution by performing Demia{ń}ski-Newman-Janis algorithm to the electrically and dyonically charged black hole with quintessence in Rastall theory of gravity. Using our black hole solution, we argue that Rastall gravity is not equivalent with Einstein gravity. For further explanation, the black hole properties such as the horizon and ergosphere are studied for which there are some different properties for those theories. Some thermodynamic properties of the black hole solution are also discussed. At the end, considering the Kerr/CFT correspondence …
A family of models of counterrotating and rotating relativistic thin discs of infinite extension based on a charged and magnetized Kerr-NUT metric are constructed using the well-known "displace, cut and reflect" method extended to solutions of vacuum Einstein-Maxwell equations. The metric considered has as limiting cases a charged and magnetized Taub-NUT solution and the well known Kerr-Newman solutions. We show that for Kerr-Newman fields the eigenvalues of the energy-momentum tensor of the disc are for all the values of the parameters real quantities so that these discs do not present heat f…
Rotating black hole solution surrounded by quintessential matter is recently discussed because it might be the promising solution to study the effect of dark energy in small scale of the universe. This quintessential solution is originally derived from the condition of additivity and linearity for the energy-momentum tensor. We carry out the thermodynamic properties of this solution using the Kerr/CFT correspondence for several specific quintessential equation of state parameters. A problem arises when we compute the central charge because the canonical conserved charge is needed to be calcula…
In this paper, using the Newman-Penrose formalism, we find the Maxwell equations in NUT space and after separation into angular and radial components solve them analytically. All the angular equations are solved in terms of Jaccobi polynomials. The radial equations are transformed into Hypergeometric and Heun's equations with the right hand sides including terms of different order in the frequency of the perturbation which allow solutions in the expansion of this parameter.
It is demonstrated that the generic four-dimensional Taub-Newman-Unti-Tamburino (Taub-NUT) spacetimes can be perfectly described in terms of three or four different kinds of thermodynamic hairs: the Komar mass ($M = m$), the "angular momentum" ($J_n = mn$), the gravitomagnetic charge ($N = n$), and/or the dual (magnetic) mass ($\widetilde{M} = n$). In other words, the NUT charge is a thermodynamic multihair which means that it simultaneously has both rotation-like and electromagnetic charge-like characteristics; this is in sharp contrast with the previous knowledge that it has only one physica…
Originally introduced in connection with general relativistic Coriolis forces, the term $\textit{frame-dragging}$ is associated today with a plethora of effects related to the off-diagonal element of the metric tensor. It is also frequently the subject of misconceptions leading to incorrect predictions, even of nonexistent effects. We show that there are three different levels of frame-dragging corresponding to three distinct gravitomagnetic objects: gravitomagnetic potential 1-form, field, and tidal tensor, whose effects are independent, and sometimes opposing. It is seen that, from the two a…
We investigate the Kerr-Newman-NUT black hole solution obtained from Plebański-Demiański solutions with several assumptions. The origin of the microscopic entropy of this black hole is investigated using the conjectured Kerr/CFT correspondence which is originally proposed for extremal Kerr black holes. The isometry of the near-horizon extremal Kerr-Newman-NUT black hole shows that the asymptotic symmetry group may be implemented to compute the central charge of the Virasoro algebra. Furthermore, by assuming Frolov-Thorne vacuum, the conformal temperatures can be obtained. Then by using the Car…
We present an exact solution describing a stationary and axisymmetric object with electromagnetic and dilaton fields. The solution generalizes the usual Kerr-Taub-NUT (Newman-Unti-Tamburino) spacetime in general relativity and is obtained by boosting this spacetime in the fifth dimension and performing a Kaluza-Klein reduction to four dimensions. We also discuss the physical parameters of this solution and calculate its gyromagnetic ratio.
We study the behavior of phase transitions for the four-dimensional charged Taub-NUT-AdS spacetime with the Newman-Unti-Tamburino (NUT) parameter interpreted as the thermodynamic multihair in the extended thermodynamic phase space, and mainly focus on the effects of the NUT parameter on the phase transitions. We find that there is an upper bound on the value of the NUT parameter beyond which the corresponding physical inflection point or critical point will not exist, and the thermodynamic trihair interpretation of the NUT parameter would admit a little larger upper bound than the thermodynami…
