The virtual Haken conjecture

We prove that cubulated hyperbolic groups are virtually special. The proof relies on results of Haglund and Wise which also imply that they are linear groups, and quasi-convex subgroups are separable. A consequence is that closed hyperbolic 3-manifolds have finite-sheeted Haken covers, which resolves the virtual Haken question of Waldhausen and Thurston's virtual fibering question. An appendix to this paper by Agol, Groves, and Manning proves a generalization of the main result of "Residual finiteness, QCERF and fillings of hyperbolic groups".

Finiteness of Homological Filling Functions

Let $G$ be a group. For any $\mathbb{Z} G$--module $M$ and any integer $d>0$, we define a function $FV_{M}^{d+1}\colon \mathbb{N} \to \mathbb{N} \cup \{\infty\}$ generalizing the notion of $(d+1)$--dimensional filling function of a group. We prove that this function takes only finite values if $M$ is of type $FP_{d+1}$ and $d>0$, and remark that the asymptotic growth class of this function is an invariant of $M$. A coarse embedding theorem for homological filling functions

We demonstrate under appropriate finiteness conditions that a coarse embedding induces an inequality of homological Dehn functions. Applications of the main results include a characterization of what finitely presentable groups may admit a coarse embedding into a hyperbolic group of geometric dimension $2$, characterizations of finitely presentable subgroups of groups with quadratic Dehn function with geometric dimension $2$, and to coarse embeddings of nilpotent groups into other nilpotent groups of the same growth and into hyperbolic groups.

Filling boundaries of coarse manifolds in semisimple and solvable arithmetic groups

We provide partial results towards a conjectural generalization of a theorem of Lubotzky-Mozes-Raghunathan for arithmetic groups (over number fields or function fields) that implies, in low dimensions, both polynomial isoperimetric inequalities and finiteness properties. As a tool in our proof, we establish polynomial isoperimetric inequalities and finiteness properties for certain solvable groups that appear as subgroups of parabolic groups in semisimple groups, thus generalizing a theorem of Bux. Cohomology of group theoretic Dehn fillings II: A spectral sequence

This is the second paper in a series of three papers aiming to study cohomology of group theoretic Dehn fillings. In the present paper, we derive a spectral sequence for Cohen-Lyndon triples which can be thought of as a refined version of the classical Lyndon-Hochschild-Serre spectral sequence in the settings of group theoretic Dehn fillings. In the next paper arXiv:1908.01290, we will apply this spectral sequence to study cohomological finiteness properties of Dehn fillings of acylindrically hyperbolic groups.
