We derive an effective dissipative quantum field theory for fluctuating orbital currents in clean $CuO_2$ sheets of high-$T_c$ cuprates, based on a three-band model. The Coulomb repulsion term between $Cu$- and $O$-sites is decoupled in terms of current operators representing horizontal and vertical parts of circulating currents within each $CuO_2$ unit cell of the lattice. The model has ordering of currents at finite temperatures. The dissipative kernel in the model is of the form $|ω|/|{\bf q}|$, indicating Landau damping. Applications of the effective theory to other models are also discussed.
We consider the consequences for circulating-current states of a cyclic, four-spin, ``ring-exchange'' interaction of the type shown recently to be significant in cuprate systems. The real-space Hartree-Fock approach is used to establish the existence of charge-current and spin-current phases in a generalized Hubbard model for the CuO_2 planes in cuprates. We compare the results of the Hartree-Fock approximation with the correlated states renormalized by Gutzwiller projection factors which allows us to gauge the qualitative effects of projection to no double site occupancy. We find that charge …
Circulating current (CC) loops within the cuprate unit cell are proposed to play a key role in the physics of the pseudogap phase. However, main experimental observations motivated by this sophisticated proposal and seemingly supporting the CC model can be explained in frames of a simple and physically clear microscopic model. We argue that instead of a well-isolated Zhang-Rice (ZR) singlet $^1A_{1g}$ the ground state of the hole center [CuO$_4$]$^{5-}$ (cluster analog of Cu$^{3+}$ ion) in cuprates should be described by a complex $^1A_{1g}$-$^{1,3}B_{2g}$-$^{1,3}E_u$ multiplet, formed by a co…
We study a model of the quantum critical point of cuprates associated with the "circulating current" order parameter proposed by Varma. An effective action of the order parameter in the quantum disordered phase is derived using functional integral method, and the physical properties of the normal state are studied based on the action. The results derived within the ladder approximation indicate that the system is like Fermi liquid near the quantum critical point and in disordered regime up to minor corrections. This implies that the suggested marginal Fermi liquid behavior induced by the circu…
Upon doping, Mott insulators often exhibit symmetry breaking where charge carriers and their spins organize into patterns known as stripes. For high-Tc superconducting cuprates, stripes are widely suspected to exist in a fluctuating form. Here, we use numerically exact determinant quantum Monte Carlo calculations to demonstrate dynamical stripe correlations in the three-band Hubbard model, which represents the local electronic structure of the Cu-O plane. Our results, which are robust to varying parameters, cluster size, and boundary condition, strongly support the interpretation of a variety …
We present large-scale Monte Carlo results for the dynamical critical exponent z and the spatio-temporal two-point correlation function of a (2+1)-dimensional quantum XY model with bond dissipation, proposed to describe a quantum critical point in high-Tc cuprates near optimal doping. The phase variables of the model, originating with a parametrization of circulating currents within the CuO_2 unit cells in cuprates, are compact, {θ_{r,τ}} \in [-π,π>. The dynamical critical exponent is found to be z \approx 1, and the spatio-temporal correlation functions are explicitly demonstrated to be isotr…
Using a phenomenological lattice model of coupled spin and charge modes, we determine the spin susceptibility in the presence of fluctuating stripe charge order. We assume the charge fluctuations to be slow compared to those of the spins, and combine Monte Carlo simulations for the charge order parameter with exact diagonalization of the spin sector. Our calculations unify the spin dynamics of both static and fluctuating stripe phases and support the notion of a universal spin excitation spectrum in doped cuprate superconductors.
The pseudogap phenomenology is one of the enigmas of the physics of high-Tc superconductors. Many members of the cuprate family have now been characterized with high resolution in both real and momentum space, which revealed highly anisotropic Fermi arcs and local domain which break rotational symmetry in the CuO2 plane at the intraunit cell level. While most theoretical approaches to date have focused on the role of electronic correlations and doping-induced disorder to explain these features, we show that many features of the pseudogap phase can be reproduced by considering the interplay bet…
Assuming, as suggested by recent neutron scattering experiments, that a broken symmetry state with orbital current order occurs in the pseudo-gap phase of the cuprate superconductors, we show that there must be associated equilibrium magnetic fields at various atomic sites in the unit cell, which should be detectable by NMR experiments.
General theory of d-wave quasiparticles coupled to phase fluctuations of superconducting order parameter is discussed. In the charge sector the superfluid density is found to conform to Uemura scaling, and the charge renormalization factor to decrease with underdoping. The spin susceptibilty exhibits four distinct regimes with increasing frequency and scales with the superconducting Tc, as observed.
The minimal theory of spin of gapless quasiparticles coupled to fluctuating vortex defects in the phase of the d-wave superconducting order parameter at T=0 is studied. With the proliferation of the vortex loops the theory reduces to the previuosly studied QED3, with its concomitant spin-density-wave (chiral) instability. We find a single superconductor-insulator phase transition, which may be fluctuation induced first-order, at which vortices condense and the chiral symmetry for fermions dynamically breaks. We compute the spin-spin correlation function deep in the fluctuating superconducting …
Cuprate materials hosting high-temperature superconductivity (HTS) also exhibit various forms of charge and/or spin ordering whose significance is not fully understood. To date, static charge-density waves (CDWs) have been detected by diffraction probes only at special doping or in an applied external field. However, dynamic CDWs may also be present more broadly and their detection, characterization and relationship with HTS remain open problems. Here, we present a new method, based on ultrafast spectroscopy, to detect the presence and measure the lifetimes of CDW fluctuations in cuprates. In …
In the underdoped, overdoped, Zn-doped or stripe-forming regions of high-$T_{c}$ cuprate superconductors (HTSC), the superfluid density $n_{s}/m^{*}$ at $T\to 0$ shows universal correlations with $T_{c}$. Similar strong correlations exist between 2-dimensional superfluid density and superfluid transition temperature in thin films of $^{4}$He in non-porous or porous media, and $^{4}$He/$^{3}$He film adsorbed on porous media. Based on analogy between HTSC and He film systems, we propose a model for cuprates where: (1) the overdoped region is characterized by a phase separation similar to $^{4}$H…
We discuss fluctuating order in a quantum disordered phase proximate to a quantum critical point, with particular emphasis on fluctuating stripe order. Optimal strategies for extracting information concerning such local order from experiments are derived with emphasis on neutron scattering and scanning tunneling microscopy. These ideas are tested by application to two model systems - the exactly solvable one dimensional electron gas with an impurity, and a weakly-interacting 2D electron gas. We extensively review experiments on the cuprate high-temperature superconductors which can be analyzed…
We investigate the possibility of spin texture in the bilayer cuprate superconductor $\rm Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+δ}$ using cluster dynamical mean field theory (CDMFT). The one-band Hubbard model with a small interlayer hopping and a Rashba spin-orbit coupling is used to describe the material. The $d$-wave order parameter is not much affected by the presence of the Rashba coupling, but a small triplet component appears. We find a spin texture circulating in the same direction around $\mathbf{k}=(0,0)$ and $\mathbf{k}=(π,π)$ and stable against the superconducting phase. The amplitude of the spin str…
We study the physical property of pair density wave (PDW) and fluctuating PDW, and use it to build an effective theory of the strongly interacting pseudogap phase in cuprate high temperature superconductors. In Chapter2, we study how Fulde-Ferrell state, the simplest form of PDW, responds to incident light. The collective motion of the condensate plays a key role; gauge invariance guides us to the correct result. From Chapter 3 to Chapter 7, we construct a pseudogap metallic state by considering quantum fluctuating PDW. We analyze a recent scanning tunneling microscope (STM) discovery of perio…
We analyze the form of static charge susceptibility $χ(q)$ in underdoped cuprates near axial momenta $(Q,0)$ and $(0,Q)$ at which short-range static charge order has been observed. We show that the momentum dependence of $χ(q)$ is anisotropic, and the correlation length in the longitudinal direction is larger than in the transverse direction. We show that correlation lengths in both directions decrease once the system evolves into a superconductor, as a result of the competition between superconductivity and charge order. These results are in agreement with resonant x-ray scattering data [R. C…
Twenty years of extensive research has yet to produce a general consensus on the origin of high temperature superconductivity (HTS). However, several generic characteristics of the cuprate superconductors have emerged as the essential ingredients of and/or constraints on any viable microscopic model of HTS. Besides a Tc of order 100K, the most prominent on the list include a d-wave superconducting gap with Fermi liquid nodal excitations, a d-wave pseudogap with the characteristic temperature scale T*, an anomalous doping-dependent oxygen isotope shift, nanometer-scale gap inhomogeneity, etc.. …
Motivated by the recent report of broken time-reversal symmetry and zero momentum magnetic scattering in underdoped cuprates, we investigate under which circumstances orbital currents circulating inside a unit cell might be stabilized in extended Hubbard models that explicitly include oxygen orbitals. Using Gutzwiller projected variational wave functions that treat on an equal footing all instabilities, we show that orbital currents indeed develop on finite clusters, and that they are stabilized in the thermodynamic limit if additional interactions, e.g. strong hybridization with apical oxygen…
We study the spin dynamics in underdoped cuprates at low temperatures by considering them as quasi two dimensional d-wave superconductors (dSC) with strong phase fluctuations. An effective theory of spin degrees of freedom of nodal quasiparticles coupled to vortex defects in the phase of the superconducting order parameter is formulated. It represents the minimal extension of the QED3 theory of the pseudogap phase into the superconducting region. The theory predicts a single dSC-SDW transition, which may be fluctuation induced first order, without the region of coexistence between the two orde…
We study a quasi-2D classical Landau-Ginzburg-Wilson effective field theory in the presence of quenched disorder in which incommensurate charge-density wave and superconducting orders are intertwined. The disorder precludes long-range charge-density wave order, but not superconducting or nematic order. We select three representative sets of input parameters and compute the corresponding charge-density wave structure factors using both large-$N$ techniques and classical Monte Carlo simulations. Where nematicity and superconductivity coexist at low temperature, the peak height of the charge-dens…
Recent observations of broken symmetries have partly demystified the pseudogap phase. Here we review evidence for long-range intra-unit-cell(IUC) nematic order and its unexpectedly strong coupling to the phase of the fluctuating stripes in the pseudogap states of underdoped Bi$_2$Sr$_2$CaCu$_2$O$_{8+δ}$. In particular, we focus on the analysis techniques that reveal this evidence in scanning tunneling spectroscopy data, the definition of the extracted IUC nematic order parameter, and a phenomenological theory of the coupling between the IUC nematic order and the previously reported coexisting …
Several state-of-the-art numerical methods have observed static or fluctuating spin and charge stripes in doped two-dimensional Hubbard models, suggesting that these orders play a significant role in shaping the cuprate phase diagram. Many experiments, however, also indicate that the cuprates have strong electron-phonon ($e$-ph) coupling, and it is unclear how this interaction influences stripe correlations. We study static and fluctuating stripe orders in the doped singleband Hubbard-Holstein model using zero temperature variational Monte Carlo and finite temperature determinant quantum Monte…
I propose a method to directly measure the space and time dependence of the pair field correlator of a pair density wave. The method is based on two separate ideas. First, we adopt the solenoid insertion method of Kapon et al (2017) to provide the momentum in a tunnel junction. Second, we suggest the use of optimal or over-doped Bi-2201 films as a tunneling electrode with a known charge ordering wave-vector which can match the expected pair density wave wave-vectors we wish to study. The method is applicable to both fluctuating and ordered states. Potential applications are to the proposed str…
In a frame of the $t-J-G$ model we derive the microscopical expression for the circulating orbital currents in layered cuprates using the anomalous correlation functions. In agreement with $μ$-on spin relaxation ($μ$SR), nuclear quadrupolar resonance (NQR) and inelastic neutron scattering(INS) experiments in YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{6+x}$ we successfully explain the order of magnitude and the monotonous increase of the {\it internal} magnetic fields resulting from these currents upon cooling. However, the jump in the intensity of the magnetic fields at T$_c$ reported recently seems to indicate a non-m…
We argue that nuclear magnetic resonance experiments are a site-sensitive probe for the electronic spectrum in the mixed state of the high-$T_c$ cuprates. Within a spin-fermion model, we show that the Doppler-shifted electronic spectrum arising from the circulating supercurrent changes the low-frequency behavior of the imaginary part of the spin-susceptibility. For a hexagonal vortex lattice, we predict that these changes lead to {\it (a)} a unique dependence of the $^{63}$Cu spin lattice relaxation rate, $1/T_1$, on resonance frequency, and {\it (b)} a temperature dependence of $T_1$ which va…
We study three proposals for broken symmetry in the cuprate pseudogap - oxygen antiferromagnetism, $Θ_{II}$ orbital loop currents, and circulating currents involving apex oxygens - through numerical exploration of multi-orbital Hubbard models. Our numerically exact results show no evidence for the existence of oxygen antiferromagnetic order or the $Θ_{II}$ phase in the three-orbital Hubbard model. The model also fails to sustain an ordered current pattern even with the presence of additional apex oxygen orbitals. We thereby conclude that it is difficult to stabilize the aforementioned phases i…
Resting on the gauge theory of topological quantum melting in 2+1 dimensions, we predict that a superconductor characterized by crystalline correlations on a length scale large compared to the lattice carries a new collective mode: the massive shear photon. This mode is visible in the electrodynamic response and the ramification of our theory is that electron energy loss spectroscopy can be employed to prove or disprove the existence of dynamical stripes in cuprate superconductors.
One of the leading issues in high-$T_C$ superconductors is the origin of the pseudogap phase in underdoped cuprates. Using polarized elastic neutron diffraction, we identify a novel magnetic order in the YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{6+x}$ system. The observed magnetic order preserves translational symmetry as proposed for orbital moments in the circulating current theory of the pseudogap state. To date, it is the first direct evidence of an hidden order parameter characterizing the pseudogap phase in high-$T_C$ cuprates.
Recent angle-resolved photoemission data for overdoped Bi2212 are explained. Of the peak-dip-hump structure, the peak corresponds the $\vec q =0$ component of a hole condensate which appears at $T_c$. The fluctuating part of this same condensate produces the hump. The bilayer splitting is large enough to produce a bonding hole and an electron antibonding quasiparticle Fermi surface. Smaller bilayer splittings observed in some experiments reflect the interaction of the peak structure with quasiparticle states near, but not at, the Fermi surface.
Within the phase fluctuation model for the pseudogap state of cuprate superconductors we identify a novel statistical "Berry phase" interaction between the nodal quasiparticles and fluctuating vortices. The effective action describing this model assumes the form of an anisotropic Euclidean quantum electrodynamics in (2+1) dimensions (QED_3) and naturally generates the marginal Fermi liquid behavior for its fermionic excitations. The doping axis in the x-T phase diagram emerges as a quantum critical line which regulates low energy fermiology. We examine the merits of our theory in light of avai…
IIn the pseudogap regime of the cuprates, charge order breaks a $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$ symmetry. Therefore, the interaction of charge order and quenched disorder due to potential scattering, can, in principle, be treated as a random field Ising model. A numerical analysis of the ground state of such a random field Ising model reveals local, glassy dynamics in both $2D$ and $3D$. The glassy dynamics are treated as a heat bath which couple to the itinerant electrons, leading to an unusual electronic non-Fermi liquid. If the dynamics are strong enough, the electron spectral function has no quasiparticl…
The letter deals with the spin-freezing process observed by means of NMR-NQR relaxation or by muon spin rotation in underdoped cuprate superconductors. This phenomenon, sometimes referred as coexistence of antiferromagnetic and superconducting order parameters, is generally thought to result from randomly distributed magnetic moments related to charge inhomogeneities (possibly stripes) which exhibit slowing down of their fluctuations on cooling below T$_c$ . Instead, we describe the experimental findings as due to fluctuating, vortex-antivortex, orbital currents state coexisting with d-wave su…
We discuss how Raman spectra of high temperature superconducting cuprates are affected by nearly-critical spin and charge collective modes, which are coupled to charge carriers near a stripe quantum critical point. We find that specific fingerprints of nearly-critical collective modes can be observed and that the selectivity of Raman spectroscopy in momentum space may be exploited to distinguish the spin and charge contribution. We apply our results to discuss the spectra of high-T_c superconducting cuprates finding that the collective modes should have masses with substantial temperature depe…
We propose a novel mechanism for the photo-induced superconducting-like response recently reported in cuprates and other strongly correlated materials. This mechanism relies on quantum-fluctuating bosons consisting of electron pairs. With periodic drive, the electron pairs and vacancies of pairs form a coherent non-equilibrium condensate, different from conventional superconductors, yet showing superconducting-like response in some regimes even with dissipation. Unlike the case of driven fermionic bands which results in the familiar Floquet bands with hybridization gaps, for driven bosons the …
The intrinsic metastable crystal structure of the cuprates results in local dynamical lattice instabilities, strongly coupled to the density fluctuations of the charge carriers. They acquire in this way simultaneously both, delocalized and localized features. It is responsible for a partial fractioning of the Fermi surface, i.e., the Fermi surface gets hidden in a region around the anti-nodal points, because of the opening of a pseudogap in the normal state, arising from a partial charge localization. The high energy localized single-particle features are a result of a segregation of the homog…
One of the leading issues in high-$\rm T_c$ copper oxide superconductors is the origin of the pseudogap phase in the underdoped regime of their phase diagram. Using polarized neutron diffraction, a novel magnetic order has been identified as an hidden order parameter of the pseudogap as the transition temperature corresponds to what is expected for the pseudogap. The observed magnetic order preserves translational symmetry as predicted for orbital moments in the circulating current theory. Being now reported in three different cuprates familles, it appears as a universal phenomenon whatever th…
The intrinsic structural metastability in cuprate high T$_c$ materials, evidenced in a checker-board domain structure of the CuO$_2$ planes, locally breaks translational and rotational symmetry. Dynamical charge - deformation fluctuations of such nano-size unidirectional domains, involving Cu-O-Cu molecular bonds, result in resonantly fluctuating diamagnetic pairs embedded in a correlated Fermi liquid. As a consequence, the single-particle spectral properties acquire simultaneously (i) fermionic low energy Bogoliubov branches for propagating Cooper pairs and (ii) bosonic localized glassy struc…
The interplay between charge order and superconductivity remains one of the central themes of research in quantum materials. In the case of cuprates, the coupling between striped charge fluctuations and local electromagnetic fields is especially important, as it affects transport properties, coherence and dimensionality of superconducting correlations. Here, we study the emission of coherent terahertz radiation in single-layer cuprates of the La$_{2-x}$Ba$_x$CuO$_4$ family, for which this effect is expected to be forbidden by symmetry. We find that emission vanishes for compounds in which the …
An unresolved issue concerning cuprate superconductors is whether the distribution of carriers in the CuO(2) plane is uniform or inhomogeneous. Because the carriers comprise a small fraction of the total charge density and may be rapidly fluctuating, modulations are difficult to detect directly. Here we demonstrate that in anomalous x-ray scattering at the oxygen K edge of the cuprates, the contribution of carriers to the scattering amplitude is selectively magnified 82 times. This enhances diffraction from the doped holes by more than 10^3, permitting direct structural analysis of the superco…
In order to explain the emergence of the anomalous pseudogap state and high-temperature superconductivity in the cuprates, intense research activity over three decades has focused on unravelling the connection between the various instabilities of the underdoped regime. In the high-temperature superconductor (Ca$_x$La$_{1-x}$)(Ba$_{1.75-x}$La$_{0.25+x}$)Cu$_3$O$_y$ (CLBLCO) isovalent chemical substitution produces smooth changes to the CuO$_2$ plane buckling and the Cu(II)-to-apical-oxygen distance, allowing us to study the interdependence of charge-density-wave (CDW) order, superconductivity a…
We show that the spectral lineshape of superconducting La$_{2-x}$Sr$_x$CuO$_4$ (LSCO) and Bi$_2$Sr$_2$CaCu$_2$O$_{8+δ}$ (Bi2212) can be well described by the coupling of the charge carriers to collective incommensurate charge-density wave (CDW) excitations. Our results imply that besides antiferromagnetic (AF) fluctuations also low-energy CDW modes can contribute to the observed dip-hump structure in the Bi2212 photoemission spectra. In case of underdoped LSCO we propose a possible interpretation of ARPES data in terms of a grid pattern of fluctuating stripes where the charge and spin scatteri…
The central puzzle of the cuprate superconductors at low hole density is the nature of the pseudogap regime. It has a number of seemingly distinct experimental signatures: a suppression of the paramagnetic spin susceptibility at high temperatures, low energy electronic excitations that extend over arcs in the Brillouin zone, X-ray detection of charge density wave order at intermediate temperatures, and quantum oscillations at high magnetic fields and low temperatures. We show that a model of competing charge density wave and superconducting orders provides a unified description of the intermed…

We derive the restricted optical-conductivity sum rule for a model with circulating orbital currents. It is shown that an unusual coupling of the vector potential to the interaction term of the model Hamiltonian results in a non-standard form of the sum rule. As a consequence, the temperature dependence of the restricted spectral weight could be compatible with existing experimental data for high-$T_c$ cuprates above the critical temperature $T_c$. We extend our results to the superconducting state, and comment on the differences and analogies between these two symmetry-breaking phenomena.
A further discussion of the vortex fluid in the cuprate high Tc superconductors is presented. The crucial property of incompressibility towards the addition of net vorticity, leading to the marked nonlinearity of the response functions, is justified from first principles. We also discuss the Fermi Arc phenomenon of Campuzano as a consequence of the time-fluctuating phase in the vortex fluid.

Large pulsed magnetic fields up to 60 Tesla are used to suppress the contribution of superconducting fluctuations (SCF) to the ab-plane conductivity above Tc in a series of YBa2Cu3O6+x single crystals. The fluctuation conductivity is found to vanish nearly exponentially with temperature, allowing us to determine precisely the field H'c(T) and the temperature T'c above which the SCFs are fully suppressed. T'c is always found much smaller than the pseudogap temperature. A careful investigation near optimal doping shows that T'c is higher than the pseudogap T*, which indicates that the pseudogap …
The simple structure of HgBa$_2$CuO$_{4+δ}$ (Hg1201) is ideal among cuprates for study of the pseudogap phase as a broken symmetry state. We have performed $^{17}$O nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) on an underdoped Hg1201 crystal with transition temperature of 74 K to look for circulating orbital currents proposed theoretically and inferred from neutron scattering. The narrow spectra preclude static local fields in the pseudogap phase at the apical site, suggesting that the moments observed with neutrons are fluctuating. The NMR frequency shifts are consistent with a dipolar field from the Cu$…
High temperature superconductivity in the cuprates remains one of the most widely investigated, constantly surprising, and poorly understood phenomena in physics. Here, we describe briefly a new phenomenological theory inspired by the celebrated description of superconductivity due to Ginzburg and Landau and believed to describe its essence. This posits a free energy functional for the superconductor in terms of a complex order parameter characterizing it. We propose, for superconducting cuprates, a similar functional of the complex, in plane, nearest neighbor spin singlet bond (or Cooper) pai…
We introduce and study an XY-type model of thermal and quantum phase fluctuations in a two-dimensional correlated lattice d-wave superconductor based on the QED3 effective theory of high temperature superconductors. General features of and selected results obtained within this model were reported earlier in an abbreviated format (Z. Tesanovic, cond-mat/0405235). The model is geared toward describing not only the long distance but also the intermediate lengthscale physics of underdoped cuprates. In particular, we elucidate the dynamical origin and investigate specific features of the Cooper pai…
We describe two-dimensional quantum spin fluctuations in a superconducting Abrikosov flux lattice induced by a magnetic field applied to a doped Mott insulator. Complete numerical solutions of a self-consistent large N theory provide detailed information on the phase diagram and on the spatial structure of the dynamic spin spectrum. Our results apply to phases with and without long-range spin density wave order and to the magnetic quantum critical point separating these phases. We discuss the relationship of our results to a number of recent neutron scattering measurements on the cuprate super…
Superconductivity in high temperature superconductors is achieved by introducing charge carriers into cuprate insulators containing CuO$_2$ planes. Perturbation in these CuO$_2$ planes suppresses superconductivity by strongly affecting the electronic environment. Here we have use photoinduced electronic modification of Cu ion in CuO$_2$ plane to investigate the effect of local perturbation in Bi$_2$Sr$_2$Ca$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{10+δ}$. This method has been used to suppress superconducting transition temperature T$_c$. We show that our results on photoinduced suppression of superconductivity are consis…
The spontaneous expulsion of applied magnetic field, the Meissner effect, is a defining feature of superconductors; in Type-II superconductors above the lower critical field, this screening takes the form of a lattice of magnetic flux vortices. Using implanted spin-1/2 positive muons, one can measure the vortex lattice field distribution through the spin precession and deduce key parameters of the superconducting ground state, and thereby fundamental properties of the superconducting pairing. Muon spin rotation/relaxation ($μ$SR) experiments have indeed revealed much interesting physics in the…
The origin of the pseudogap (PG) phase and superconducting behaviors in high-Tc superconductors is proposed, based on the picture of Euclidean Q-balls formation, that carry Cooper/local-pair condensates inside their volumes. Unlike the baryonic Q-balls in supersymmetric standard model, the Euclidean Q-balls describe spin-/charge densities, that oscillate in Matsubara time, and are found in the 'nested' repulsive Hubbard model of high-Tc superconductors. Euclidean Q-balls arise due to global invariance of the effective theory under the phase rotation of the Fourier amplitudes of spin-/charge fl…
