It is now clear that the masses of the neutrino sector are much lighter than those of the other three sectors. There are many attempts to explain the neutrino masses radiatively by means of inert Higgses, which don't have vacuum expectation values. Then one can discuss cold dark matter candidates, because of no needing so heavy particles and having a $Z_2$ parity symmetry corresponding to the R-parity symmetry of the MSSM.
The most famous work would be the Zee model.
Recently a new type model along this line of thought was proposed by Mr. E. Ma. We paid attention to this idea. We introduce a flavor symmetry based on a dihedral group $D_6$ to constrain the Yukawa sector. For the neutrino sector, we find that the maximal mixing of atmospheric neutrinos is realized, it can also be shown that only an inverted mass spectrum, the value of $|V_{MNS_{13}}|$ is 0.0034 and so on. When one extends the Higgs sector, it leads to FCNCs mediated by Higgs fields generally. But in our model, the FCNCs are (of course) suppressed for the experiments sufficiently. For the fermionic CDM candidates, we find that the mass of the CDM and the inert Higgs should be larger than about 230 and 300 GeV, respectively. If we restrict ourselves to a perturbative regime, they should be lighter than about 750 GeV.
We discuss the impact of fermion mass matrices on some lepton number violating processes, namely baryogenesis via leptogenesis and neutrinoless double beta decay, and on some lepton flavor violating processes, namely radiative lepton decays in supersymmetric seesaw models.
Neutrino flavor mixing is explained within the recently proposed low-scale minimal linear seesaw model of neutrino mass generation, a variant of the standard linear seesaw led by a Dirac pair of extra sterile neutrinos which is odd under a discrete $Z_2$ symmetry and has a mass at or below the GeV scale. The tri-bimaximal mixing and its deviations are derived straightforwardly on the basis of the symmetry between $μ$ and $τ$ flavors, without introducing non-abelian discrete flavor symmetries in the first place.
We study the constraints on a minimal supersymmetric seesaw model imposed by neutrino data, charged lepton flavor violation, thermal leptogenesis and perturbativity. We show that it is possible to constrain the three heavy Majorana neutrino masses as well as the complex Yukawa coupling matrix. Our results provide a first step towards a seesaw benchmark model for further phenomenological studies and model building.
Now the bounds on the lepton-flavor violating (LFV) decay modes of tau lepton are being improved by the Belle experiment in the KEK B factory. In this paper the LFV decay of tau lepton is discussed in the supersymmetric seesaw model, using the current neutrino oscillation data.
We study the implications of the global $U(1)_R$ symmetry present in minimal lepton flavor violating implementations of the seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses. Our discussion is done in the context of explicit minimal type-I seesaw scenarios, where depending on the R-charge assignment different models can be constructed. We study the charged lepton flavor violating phenomenology of a concrete realization paying special attention to $μ\to eγ$ and $μ\to 3e$.
In the two zero flavor neutrino mass matrix scheme with nonvanishing Majorana effective mass $M_{ee}$ for the neutrino less double beta decay, four textures are compatible with observed data. We obtain the complete list of the possible textures of four zero Dirac neutrino mass matrix $m_D$ in the seesaw mechanism providing these four flavor neutrino textures. Explicit analytical analysis of $m_D$ turns out to provide the relation of $m_D \propto \sqrt{M_{ee}}$.
We discuss the linkage between dark matter mass in the one-loop radiative seesaw model and the effective neutrino mass for the neutrino less double beta decay. This linkage, which has been already numerically suggested, is confirmed to be a reasonable relationship by deriving analytical expressions for two zero flavor neutrino mass texture.
Lepton flavor violating Higgs boson decays are studied within the context of seesaw models with Majorana massive neutrinos. Two models are considered: The SM-seesaw, with the Standard Model Particle content plus three right handed neutrinos, and the MSSM-seesaw, with the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model particle content plus three right handed neutrinos and their supersymmetric partners. The widths for these decays are derived from a full one-loop diagrammatic computation in both models, and they are analyzed numerically in terms of the seesaw parameters, namely, the Dirac and Majorana ma…
We discuss a neutrino mass model based on the S_4 flavor symmetry within the minimal seesaw framework, in which only two right-handed neutrinos are introduced and transform as 2 under S_4. Although the model contains less free parameters compared to the typical seesaw models, it provides a successful description of the observed neutrino parameters, and in particular, a nearly tri-bimaximal mixing pattern can be naturally accommodated. In addition, the heavy right-handed neutrino masses are found to be non-degenerate, while only the normal hierarchical mass spectrum is compatible with experimen…
This work proposes a neutrino mass model that is derived using the minimal seesaw mechanism which contains only two right-handed neutrinos, under the non-abelian discrete flavor symmetry $\mathbb{S}_4\otimes\mathbb{Z}_2$. Two standard model doublets, $L_μ$ and $L_τ$, are assigned simultaneously to a $\mathbf{2}$ representation of $\mathbb{S}_4$. When the scalar fields introduced in this model, addition to the Standard Model Higgs, and the leptons are coupled within the symmetry, the seesaw mechanism results in the tri-bi-maximal neutrino mixing. This study examined the possible deviations from…
In the 5D theory in which only 3 generation right-handed neutrinos are in the bulk, the neutrino flavor mixings and the mass spectrum can be constructed through the seesaw mechanism. The 5D seesaw is easily calculated just by a replacement of the Majorana mass eigenvalues, M_i, by 2 M_*tan(h)[πRM_i] (M_*: 5D Planck scale, R: compactification radius). The 5D features appear when the bulk mass, which induces the 4D Majorana mass, is the same as the compactification scale or larger than it. Depending on the type of bulk mass, the seesaw scales of the 3 generations are strongly split (the tan-func…
We generalize the democratic neutrino mixing Ansatz by incorporating the type-II seesaw mechanism with S(3) flavor symmetry. We find that bilarge neutrino mixing can naturally appear if the flavor democracy contribution is strongly suppressed due to significant cancellation between the conventional seesaw and triplet mass terms. Explicit S(3) symmetry breaking yields successful neutrino phenomenology and various testable correlations between the neutrino mass and mixing parameters. Among the results are a normal neutrino mass ordering, $0.005 \le |U_{e3}| \le 0.057$, $1 - \sin^2 2θ_{23} \ge 0.…
We discuss a GUT realization of the supersymmetric triplet seesaw mechanism(recently proposed by us in hep-ph/0604083 and further analyzed in hep-ph/0607298) where the exchange of the heavy triplet states generates both neutrino masses and soft SUSY breaking terms.
We propose a new type of radiative seesaw model in which observed neutrino masses are generated through a three-loop level diagram in combination with tree-level type-II seesaw mechanism in a renormalizable theory. We introduce a Non-abelian flavor symmetry $T_7$ in order to constrain the form of Yukawa interactions and Higgs potential. Although several models based on a Non-abelian flavor symmetry predict the universal coupling constants among the standard model like Higgs boson and charged leptons, which is disfavored by the current LHC data, our model can avoid such a situation. We show a b…
We examine the lepton-flavor violation caused by a Yukawa coupling matrix $y_{ν,ij}$ for right-handed neutrinos in the supersymmetric standard model. We stress that decay rates for $τ\rightarrowμγ$ and $μ\rightarrow eγ$ may reach the range to be accessible to near future experiments if left-right mixing terms in the slepton mass matrix are substantially large.
The Minimal Flavor Violation hypothesis (MFV) is extended to the R-parity violating MSSM, supplemented with a simple seesaw mechanism. The requirement of MFV is shown to suppress lepton and baryon-number violating couplings sufficiently to pass all experimental bounds, in particular those for proton decay, and is thus a viable alternative to R-parity. The phenomenological consequences for FCNC, LFV and colliders are briefly discussed. Typically, MFV predicts sizeable baryon-number violation in some characteristic channels, like single stop resonant production.
We present an update of previous work on charged lepton flavor violation (LFV) in the seesaw model. The most recent neutrino data fits and post WMAP mSUGRA benchmark scenarios are used as input. In this framework we compare the sensitivity of rare radiative decays on the right-handed Majorana mass scale M_R with the reach in slepton-pair production at a future linear collider.
A minimal flavour violation hypothesis for leptons can be implemented essentially in two ways that are compatible with a type-I seesaw structure with three heavy singlet neutrinos $N$, and that satisfy the requirement of being predictive, in the sense that all lepton flavor violating (LFV) effects can be expressed in terms of low energy observables. The first realization is CP conserving and is based on the flavor group $SU(3)_e\times SU(3)_\ell\times O(3)_N$ (being $e$ and $\ell$ the SU(2) singlet and doublet leptons). The second realization allows for CP violation and is based on $SU(3)_e\ti…
We present a type-III version of inverse seesaw or, equivalently an inverse version of type-III seesaw. Naturally small neutrino masses arise at low-scale from the exchange of neutral fermions transforming as hyperchargeless SU(2) triplets. In order to implement tri-bimaximal lepton mixing we supplement the minimal SU(3)xSU(2)xU(1) gauge symmetry with an A4-based flavor symmetry. Our scenario induces lepton flavour violating (LFV) three body decays that can proceed at the tree level, while radiative li to lj gamma decays and mu-e conversion in nuclei are also expected to be sizeable. LFV decay…
Lepton flavor violating Higgs boson decays (LFVHD) are studied in the context of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) enlarged with three right handed neutrinos and their supersymmetric partners, and with the neutrino masses being generated by the seesaw mechanism. We compute the partial widths for these decays to one-loop order and analyze numerically the corresponding branching ratios in terms of the MSSM and seesaw parameters. We analyze in parallel the lepton flavor changing $ł_j\to l_i γ$ decays and explore the maximum predicted rates for LFVHD, mainly for $H^0,A^0 \to τ{\bar …
We discuss the leptonic flavor structure generated by a brane shifted extra dimensional seesaw model with a single right handed neutrino in the bulk. In contrast to previous works, no unitarity approximation for the $3 \times 3$ submatrix has been employed. This allows to study phenomenological signatures such as lepton flavor violating decays. A strong prediction of the model, assuming CP conservation, are the ratios of flavor violating charged lepton decay and Z decay branching ratios which are correlated with the neutrino mixing angles and the neutrino mass hierarchy. Furthermore, it is pos…
Diverse mass and mixing patterns between the quarks and leptons makes it challenging to construct a simple grand unified theory of flavor. We show that SO(10) SUSY GUTs with type II seesaw mechanism giving neutrino masses provide a natural framework for addressing this issue. A simple ansatz that the dominant Yukawa matrix (the 10-Higgs coupling to matter) has rank one, appears to simultaneously explain both the large lepton mixings as well as the observed quark flavor hierarchy in these models. A testable prediction of this ansatz is the neutrino mixing, U_{e3}, which should be observable in …
We propose a hybrid seesaw model based on $A_{4}$ flavor symmetry, which generates a large hierarchical flavor structure. In our model, tree-level and one-loop seesaw mechanisms predict different flavor structures in the neutrino mass matrix, and generate a notable hierarchy among them. We find that such a hierarchical structure gives a large effective neutrino mass which can be accessible by next-generation neutrinoless double beta decay experiments. Majorana phases can also be predictable. The $A_{4}$ flavor symmetry in the model is spontaneously broken to the $Z_{2}$ symmetry, leading to a …
In a seesaw mass matrix model M_f = m_L M_F^{-1} m_R^\dagger with a universal structure of m_L \propto m_R, as the origin of m_L (m_R) for quarks and eptons, flavor-triplet Higgs scalars whose vacuum expectation values v_i are proportional to the square roots of the charged lepton masses m_{ei}, i.e. v_i \propto \sqrt{m_{ei}}, are assumed. Then, it is investigated whether such a model can explain the observed neutrino masses and mixings (and also quark masses and mixings) or not.
In the type I + II seesaw formula the mass matrix of light neutrinos m_nu receives contributions from the exchanges of both heavy Majorana neutrinos and SU(2)_L-triplet Higgs bosons. We propose a new parameterization for the Dirac-type Yukawa coupling matrix of neutrinos in this case, which generalizes the well known Casas-Ibarra parameterization to type I + II seesaw and is useful when the triplet term in m_nu is known. Neutrino masses and mixing, lepton flavor violation in decays like mu -> e γwithin mSUGRA models and leptogenesis can then be studied within this framework. We illustrate the …
The inverse and linear seesaw scenarios are two typical extensions of the canonical seesaw mechanism, which contain much more sterile degrees of freedom but can naturally explain the smallness of three active neutrino masses at a sufficiently low energy scale (e.g., the TeV scale). To fully describe the mixing among three active neutrinos, three sterile neutrinos and three extra gauge-singlet neutral fermions in either of these two seesaw paradigms, we present the {\it first} full parametrization of the $9\times 9$ flavor mixing matrix in terms of 36 rotation angles and 36 CP-violating phases.…
We discuss a linear seesaw model with local $U(1)_{B-L}$ and modular $A_4$ symmetries. The neutrino mass matrix for linear seesaw mechanism is realized by $U(1)_{B-L}$ charge assignment and the nature of modular $A_4$ symmetry. We formulate neutrino mass and carry our numerical analysis showing some predictions for observables in neutrino sector. Remarkably, the case of inverted neutrino mass ordering (IO) is realized by a specific region around $τ=ω=e^{2πi/3}$, which is favored by a string theory. Thus, our prediction would be very strong in case of IO.
When the standard model is extended with right-handed neutrinos the symmetries of the resulting Lagrangian are enlarged with a new global U(1)R Abelian factor. In the context of minimal seesaw models we analyze the implications of a slightly broken U(1)R symmetry on charged lepton flavor violating decays. We find, depending on the R-charge assignments, models where charged lepton flavor violating rates can be within measurable ranges. In particular, we show that in the resulting models due to the structure of the light neutrino mass matrix muon flavor violating decays are entirely determined b…
We advance a method used to analyse the neutrino properties (masses and mixing) in the seesaw mechanism. Assuming the hierarchical Dirac and light neutrino masses we establish rather simple relations between the light and the heavy neutrino parameters in the favored region of the solar and the atmospheric neutrino experiments. A empirical condition satisfied by the RH mixing angles is obtained.
Flavor physics has been crucial in the development of particle physics and it will keep being so in the future. Nowadays, this kind of processes, in particular lepton flavor changing observed in neutrino oscillations, give us the clearest evidence of the fact that the Standard Model of fundamental interactions needs to be modified. Some of the most popular theories that try to asses this issue postulate the existence of new heavy right-handed neutrinos, with masses in the energy range that the LHC experiment is currently exploring. In this thesis, we study the connection between the possible e…
In the presence of a low scale seesaw of type I + III, flavor violating effects in the leptonic sector are expected. Their presence in the charged sector is due to the mixing of the fermionic vector-like weak triplets with the chiral doublets, which cause non-universality of the tree-level Z coupling. We investigate the bounds on the Yukawa couplings which are responsible for the mixing and present the results for two minimal cases, a fermionic triplet with a singlet or two fermionic triplets. Different channels for these processes are considered and their current and future potential to probe…
In type I seesaw models with flavor symmetries accounting for the lepton mixing angles the CP asymmetry in right-handed neutrino decays vanishes in the limit in which the mixing pattern is exact. We study the implications that additional degrees of freedom from type II seesaw may have for leptogenesis in such a limit. We classify in a model independent way the possible realizations of type I and II seesaw schemes, differentiating between classes in which leptogenesis is viable or not. We point out that even with the interplay of type I and II seesaws there are generic classes of minimal models…
We discuss a linear seesaw model with as minimum field content as possible, introducing a modular $S_4$ with the help of gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetries. Due to rank two neutrino mass matrix, we have a vanishing neutrino mass eigenvalue, and only the normal mass hierarchy of neutrinos is favored through the modular $S_4$ symmetry. In our numerical $Δχ^2$ analysis, we especially find rather sharp prediction on sum of neutrino masses to be around $60$ meV in addition to the other predictions.
The four light neutrino scenario, which explains the atmosphere, solar and LSND neutrino experiments, is studied in the framework of the seesaw mechanism. By taking both the Dirac and Majorana mass matrix of neutrinos to be singular, the four neutrino mass spectrum consisting of two almost degenerate pairs separated by a mass gap $\sim 1$ eV is naturally generated. Moreover the right-handed neutrino Majorana mass can be at $\sim 10^{14}$ GeV scale unlike in the usual singular seesaw mechanism. Abelian flavor symmetry is used to produce the required neutrino mass pattern. A specific example of …
Within low-scale seesaw mechanisms, such as the inverse and linear seesaw, one expects (i) potentially large lepton flavor violation (LFV) and (ii) sizeable non-standard neutrino interactions (NSI). We consider the interplay between the magnitude of non-unitarity effects in the lepton mixing matrix, and the constraints that follow from LFV searches in the laboratory. We find that NSI parameters can be sizeable, up to percent level in some cases, while LFV rates, such as that for μ-> e γ, lie within current limits, including the recent one set by the MEG collaboration. As a result the upcoming …
We analyze the lepton flavor violation processes $μ-e$ conversion, $l_i\rightarrow l_jγ$ and $l_i\rightarrow 3l_j$ in framework of the Standard Model (SM) extended with inverse seesaw mechanism, as a function of $\tildeη = 1 -|Det(\tilde {U}_{PMNS})|$ that parameterizes the departure from unitary of the light neutrino mixing sub-matrix $\tilde {U}_{PMNS}$. In a wide range of $\tildeη$, the predictions on the $μ-e$ conversion rates and the branching ratio of $μ\rightarrow eγ$ are sizeable to be compatible with the experimental upper limits or future experimental sensitivities. For large scale o…
We have studied the contribution of higher order corrections of the flavor symmetry breaking in the $A_4$ seesaw model with the supersymmetry. Taking account of possible higher dimensional mass operators, we predict the deviation from the tri-bimaximal lepton mixing for both normal hierarchy and inverted hierarchy of neutrino masses. We have found that the value of $\sin^2 2θ_{23}$ is larger than 0.96 and the upper bound of $\sin^2θ_{13}$ is 0.01. We have also examined the flavor changing neutral current of leptons from the soft SUSY breaking in slepton masses and A-terms within the framework …
We study lepton-flavor violating slepton production and decay at a future e^+e^- linear collider in context with the seesaw mechanism in mSUGRA post-LEP benchmark scenarios. The present knowledge in the neutrino sector as well as improved future measurements are taken into account. We calculate the signal cross-sections σ(e^{+/-}e^- -> l_β^{+/-} l_α^- \tildeχ_b^0 \tildeχ_a^0); l_δ=e, μ, τ; α=|= βand estimate the main background processes. Furthermore, we investigate the correlations of these signals with the corresponding lepton-flavor violating rare decays l_α -> l_β γ. It is shown that these…
We investigate charged lepton flavor violating (CFLV) processes in the `neutrinophilic Higgs+seesaw model', in which right-handed neutrinos couple only with an extra Higgs field which develops a tiny VEV and the right-handed neutrinos also have Majorana mass. The model realizes a seesaw mechanism around TeV scale without extremely small Dirac Yukawa couplings. A phenomenological feature of the model is CFLV processes induced by loop diagrams of the charged scalar particles and heavy neutrinos. Therefore, first we constrain the model's parameter space from the search for $μ\to eγ$. Next, we pre…
We study lepton flavor number violating rare B decays, $b \to s l_h^{\pm} l_l^{\mp}$, in a seesaw model with low scale singlet Majorana neutrinos motivated by the resonant leptogenesis scenario. The branching ratios of inclusive decays $ b \to s l_h^{\pm} \bar{l_l}^{\mp} $ with two almost degenerate singlet neutrinos at TeV scale are investigated in detail. We find that there exists a class of seesaw model in which the branching fractions of $ b \to s τμ$ and $τ\to μγ$ can be as large as $10^{-10}$ and $10^{-9}$ within the reach of Super B factories, respectively, without being in conflict wit…
We propose a simple ansatz for neutrino phenomenology, in which the relevant lepton mass matrices take the universal Fritzsch-like form and the seesaw relation holds under a particular condition. There exist six textures of this nature, but their consequences on neutrino oscillations are exactly the same. We show that our scenario is viable to account for the cosmological baryon number asymmetry via thermal leptogenesis. Its predictions for the lepton-flavor-violating decays μ-> eγ, tau -> μγand τ-> eγare also presented. We find that the branching ratios of these rare processes depend strongly…
The aim of the work is to study LFV in a newly proposed Seesaw model of neutrino mass and to see whether it could explain LSND excess. The motivation of this Seesaw model was that there was no new physics beyond the TeV scale. By studying μ\to 3e in this model, it is shown that the upper bound on the branching ratio requires Higgs mass m_{h} of a new scalar doublet with lepton number L=-1 needed in the model has to be about 9 TeV. The predicted branching ratio for μ\to eν_{l}\barν_{l} is too small to explain the LSND. PACS: 11.30.Hv, 14.60.Pq
The top quark mass and the flavor mixing are studied in the context of a Seesaw model of Quark Masses based on the gauge group $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \times U(1)$. Six isosinglet quarks are introduced to give rise to the mass hierarchy of ordinary quarks. In this scheme, we reexamine a mechanism for the generation of the top quark mass. It is shown that, in order to prevent the Seesaw mechanism to act for the top quark, the mass parameter of its isosinglet partner must be much smaller than the breaking scale of $SU(2)_R$. As a result the fourth lightest up quark must have a mass of the order …
We study the minimal type-III seesaw model in which we extend the SM by adding two $SU(2)_L$ triplet fermions with zero hypercharge to explain the origin of the non-zero neutrino masses. We show that the naturalness conditions and the limits from lepton flavor violating decays provide very stringent bounds on the model parameters along with the constraints from the stability/metastability of the electroweak vacuum. We perform a detailed analysis of the model parameter space including all the constraints for both normal as well as inverted hierarchies of the light neutrino masses. We find that …
Neutrino are massless in the Standard Model. The most popular mechanism to generate neutrino masses are the type I and type II seesaw, where right-handed neutrinos and a scalar triplet are augmented to the Standard Model, respectively. In this work, we discuss a model where a type I + II seesaw mechanism naturally arises via spontaneous symmetry breaking of an enlarged gauge group. Lepton flavor violation is a common feature in such setup and for this reason, we compute the model contribution to the $μ\rightarrow eγ$ and $μ\rightarrow 3e$ decays. Moreover, we explore the connection between the…
In this paper, we examine the leptonic flavor invariants in the minimal seesaw model (MSM), in which only two right-handed neutrino singlets are added into the Standard Model in order to accommodate tiny neutrino masses and explain cosmological matter-antimatter asymmetry via leptogenesis mechanism. For the first time, we calculate the Hilbert series (HS) for the leptonic flavor invariants in the MSM. With the HS we demonstrate that there are totally 38 basic flavor invariants, among which 18 invariants are CP-odd and the others are CP-even. Moreover, we explicitly construct these basic invari…
In the Standard Model, Yukawa couplings parametrize the fermion masses and mixing angles with the exception of neutrino masses. The hierarchies and apparent regularities among the quark and lepton masses are, however, otherwise a mystery. We propose a new class of models having vector-like fermions that can potentially address this problem and provide a new mechanism for fermion mass generation. The masses of the third and second generations of quarks and leptons arise at tree level via the seesaw mechanism from new physics at moderately higher scales, while loop corrections produce the masses…
In the canonical seesaw framework flavor mixing and CP violation in weak charged-current interactions of light and heavy Majorana neutrinos are correlated with each other and described respectively by the $3\times 3$ matrices $U$ and $R$. We show that the very possibility of $\big|U^{}_{μi}\big| = \big|U^{}_{τi}\big|$ (for $i = 1, 2, 3$), which is strongly indicated by current neutrino oscillation data, automatically leads to a novel prediction $\big|R^{}_{μi}\big| = \big|R^{}_{τi}\big|$ (for $i = 1, 2, 3$). We prove that behind these two sets of equalities and the experimental evidence for le…
We survey the lepton flavor violation branching ratios Br(mu->e,gamma), Br(tau->mu,gamma), and Br(tau->e,gamma) in mSUGRA for a broad class of lepton mass matrix textures that give nearly tribimaximal lepton mixing. Small neutrino masses are generated by the type-I seesaw mechanism with non-degenerate right-handed neutrino masses. The textures exhibit a hierarchical mass pattern and can be understood from flavor models giving rise to large leptonic mixing. We study the branching ratios for the most general CP-violating forms of the textures. It is demonstrated that the branching ratios can be …
In this talk, we first give a brief review of the so-called minimal seesaw models and then concentrate on the minimal type-I seesaw model with two almost degenerate right-handed Majorana neutrinos of ${\cal O}(1 {\rm TeV})$. A specific texture of the neutrino Yukawa coupling matrix is proposed to achieve the nearly tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing pattern. This ansatz predicts (1) $θ^{}_{23} = π/4$, $|δ| = π/2$ and $\sin^2 θ^{}_{12} = (1 - 2 \tan^2 θ^{}_{13})/3$ in the $m^{}_1 = 0$ case; and (2) $θ^{}_{23} =π/4$ and $θ^{}_{13} = δ= 0$ in the $m^{}_3 = 0$ case. In both cases, the cosmological bary…
We consider tri-bimaximal lepton mixing within low-scale seesaw schemes where light neutrino masses arise from TeV scale physics, potentially accessible at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Two examples are considered, based on the A4 flavor symmetry realized within the inverse or the linear seesaw mechanisms. Both are highly predictive so that in both the light neutrino sector effectively depends only on three mass parameters and one Majorana phase, with no CP violation in neutrino oscillations. We find that the linear seesaw leads to a lower bound for neutrinoless double beta decay while the …
We study the lepton flavor violating decays such as $μ\to eγ$, $τ\to eγ$, $τ\to μγ$ in the three-loop radiative seesaw model proposed by Krauss, Nasri, and Trodden. In this model, the relevant coupling constants are larger for the heavier scalars that run inside loop diagrams to generate the appropriate magnitude of neutrino masses. Imposing a criterion that all the coupling constants must be small enough to be treated perturbatively, we find an upper bound on the mass of one of the scalars. By combining it with neutrino mass parameters, we derive lower bounds on the branching ratios of the le…
Flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNC) are studied on the basis of a ``democratic seesa'' mass matrix model, which yields a singular enhancement of the top-quark mass m_t and can give reasonable quark masses and CKM matrix elements. The most exciting aspect of the model is that the structure of the $6 \times 6$ right-handed fermion mixing matrix in the up-quark sector, $U^R_u$, shows an abnormal structure in contrast to that of $U^L_u$. This causes characteristic effects on the right-handed FCNC concerned with top quark. A single top-quark production at future $e^+ e^-$ colliders, $e^+ + e^- …
In this paper, we study the implications of the modular $A^{}_4$ flavor symmetry in constructing a supersymmetric minimal type-(I+II) seesaw model, in which only one right-handed neutrino and two Higgs triplets are introduced to account for the tiny neutrino masses, flavor mixing and CP violation. The right-handed neutrino as well as the Higgs triplets in this model are assigned into the trivial one-dimensional irreducible representation of the modular group $A^{}_{4}$. We show that the individual contributions to the neutrino masses from the right-handed neutrino and the Higgs triplet are com…
The right--handed neutrino mass matrix that is central to the understanding of small neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism can arise either (i) from renormalizable operators or (ii) from nonrenormalizable or super-renormalizable operators, depending on the symmetries and the Higgs content of the theory beyond the Standard Model. In this paper, we study lepton flavor violating (LFV) effects in the first class of seesaw models wherein the ν_R Majorana masses arise from renormalizable Yukawa couplings involving a B-L = 2 Higgs field. We present detailed predictions for τ-> μ+ γand μ-> e + γbra…
