The functional renormalisation group is applied to the effective action for scattering of two nonrelativistic fermions. The resulting physical effective action is shown to contain the correct threshold singularity. The corresponding "bare" action respects Galilean invariance up to second order in momenta. Beyond that order it contains terms that violate this symmetry and, for the particular regulator considered, nonanalytic third-order terms. The corresponding potential can be expanded around a nontrivial fixed point using the power counting appropriate to a system with large scattering length.
The Wilsonian renormalisation group is applied to a system of two nonrelativistic particles interacting via short-range forces and coupled to an external EM field. By demanding that a fully off-shell one-particle-irreducible 5-point amplitude is independent of the cutoff, a renormalisation group equation is derived for the interaction current density. This is solved to obtain the fixed point corresponding to the unitary limit. The scaling behaviour of perturbations around this point is analysed. Some of these terms are related by gauge invariance to terms in the effective-range expansion; othe…
We present a comprehensive study of the quark sector of $2+1$ flavour QCD, based on a self-consistent treatment of the coupled system of Schwinger-Dyson equations for the quark propagator and the full quark-gluon vertex. The individual form factors of the quark-gluon vertex are expressed in a special tensor basis obtained from a set of gauge-invariant operators. The sole external ingredient used as input to our equations is the Landau gauge gluon propagator with $2+1$ dynamical quark flavours, obtained from studies with Schwinger-Dyson equations, the functional renormalisation group approach, …
The Hohenberg-Kohn theorem and the Kohn-Sham equations, which are at the basis of the Density Functional Theory, are reformulated in terms of a particular many-body density, which is translational invariant and therefore is relevant for self-bound systems. In a similar way that there is a unique relation between the one-body density and the external potential that gives rise to it, we demonstrate that there is a unique relation between that particular many-body density and a definite many-body potential. The energy is then a functional of this density and its minimization leads to the ground-s…
