With the experimental data from STAR on the centrality dependence of transverse momentum $p_T$ spectra of pions and protons in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 {\rm GeV}$, we investigate the scaling properties of transverse energy $E_T$ distributions at different centralities. In the framework of cluster formation and decay mechanism for particle production, the universal transverse energy distributions for pion and proton can be described separately but not simultaneously.
In this paper we will show that one can summarize the major two particle reaction plane azimuthal correlations for Au + Au mid-central collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =$ 200 GeV by defining a 2D azimuthal space which is a summary of the event by event average.
We present calculations of prompt and thermal photon production in Au-Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=19-200$~GeV. We discuss features of the spacetime profile of the plasma relevant for electromagnetic emission. We highlight how the suppression of prompt photon production at low $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ can provide a window to measure thermal photons in low collision energies.
The Chiral Magnetic Effect (CME) is predicted for mid-peripheral Au-Au collisions $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=200 GeV at RHIC. However many backgrounds can give signals that make the measurement hard to interpret. The STAR experiment has made a measurement that makes it possible to separate out the background from the signal. An event shape analysis is the key for controlling the effects of Transverse Momentum Conservation (TMC) in the Au-Au collisions. LHC Pb-Pb collision $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=2.76 TeV has made event plane measurements from which we calculate the CME and make predictions about what the event s…
We argue on a continuous (dynamical) kinetic freeze-out of $K^\pm, ϕ$ observed at midrapidity in collisions Au(1.23 A GeV) + Au. The simulations by means of a transport model of BUU type point to time independent transverse momentum slope parameters after 20 fm/c. The complex interplay of expansion dynamics and strangeness production/exchange/absorption as well as elastic scatterings involved in the reaction network does not support the previous interpretation of a late freeze-out of $K^-$ due to larger cross sections.
We explore the effects of shadowing on inclusive J/psi and Upsilon(1S) production at AFTER@LHC. We also present the rates as a function of p_T and rapidity for p+Pb and Pb+p collisions in the proposed AFTER@LHC rapidity acceptance.
We investigate the squeezed back-to-back correlations (BBC) of $K^+$$K^-$, caused by the mass modification of the particle in the dense medium formed in d+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV and Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=62.4$ GeV. Considering some kaons may be not affected by the medium, we further study the BBC functions of $K^+$$K^-$ when parts of all kaons have a mass-shift. Our results indicate that the BBC functions of $K^+$$K^-$ can be observed when only about 10$\%$ of all kaons have a mass-shift in d+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV and the peripheral collisions …
We obtain a detailed description of all available hadron multiplicity yields in central Pb--Pb collisions at LHC measured in the rapidity interval $|y|<0.5$. We find that the hadronization of the fireball at LHC occurs at nearly identical intensive physical bulk conditions for all centralities similar to those seen already at RHIC.
We propose a novel phenomenological model of mean transverse momentum fluctuations based on the Geometrical Scaling hypothesis. Bose-Einstein correlations between two gluons generated from an identical color flux tube are taken into account as a source of the fluctuation. We calculate an event-by-event fluctuation measure $\sqrt{C_m}/\langle p_{\rm T}\rangle$ and show that ALICE data observed at $\sqrt s=$0.90 TeV for $p$+$p$ collisions are reproduced. By fitting our model to the experimental data, we evaluate the transverse size of the color flux tube as a function of the multiplicity.
We analyse the recently available experimental data on direct photon productions from Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=200 GeV RHIC and from Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=2.76 TeV LHC energies. The transverse momentum ($p_T$) distributions have been evaluated with the assumption of an initial quark gluon plasma phase at temperatures $T_i$=404 and 546 MeV with initial thermalisation times $τ_i$=0.2 and 0.1 fm/c respectively for RHIC and LHC energies. The theoretical evalutions agree reasonably well with the experimental observations. The thermal window for the LHC energy is justified t…
We predict the elliptic flow parameter v_2 in U+U collisions at sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV and in Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt{s_{NN}} = 2.76 TeV using a hybrid model in which the evolution of the quark gluon plasma is described by ideal hydrodynamics with a state-of-the-art lattice QCD equation of state, and the subsequent hadronic stage by a hadron cascade model.
In hydrodynamical modeling of ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions, the freeze-out is typically assumed to take place at a surface of constant temperature or energy density. A more physical approach is to assume that freeze-out takes place at a surface of constant Knudsen number. We evaluate the Knudsen number as a ratio of the expansion rate of the system to the pion scattering rate, and apply the constant Knudsen number freeze-out criterion to ideal hydrodynamical description of heavy-ion collisions at RHIC ($\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}=200$ GeV) and the LHC ($\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}=2760$ GeV) ener…
In this paper, we use the Gaussian distribution to analyze transverse momentum spectra of K_0^S and K^(*0) at midrapidity in d +Au, Cu+Cu and p+p Collisions at 200 GeV. The two-component Gaussian distribution can approximately agree with the experimental data and the three-component distribution can perfectly agree with the data in the given range. Moreover, there is a significantly positive correlation between the temperature and the collision centrality.
Transverse-Mass Spectra in Heavy-Ion Collisions at energies E_{lab} = 2--160 GeV/nucleon
Direct photon emission in heavy-ion collisions is calculated within a relativistic micro+macro hybrid model and compared to the microscopic transport model UrQMD. In the hybrid approach, the high-density part of the collision is calculated by an ideal 3+1-dimensional hydrodynamic calculation, while the early (pre-equilibrium-) and late (rescattering-) phase are calculated with the transport model. We study both models with Au+Au-collisions at \sqrt{s_NN} = 200 GeV and compare the results to experimental data published by the PHENIX collaboration.
Direct photon production, in $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=200 GeV Au+Au and in $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=2.76 TeV Pb+Pb collisions, are studied in a hydrodynamic model. Ideal hydrodynamic model, initialised to reproduce experimentally charged particle spectra in RHIC and LHC energy, also reproduces the PHENIX and ALICE measurements for the direct photon spectra in Au+Au collisions at RHIC and Pb+Pb collisions at LHC. The model however produces less elliptic flow than in experiment. Discrepancy between experiment and hydrodynamic simulation is comparatively less in Pb+Pb collisions at LHC than in Au+Au collisions at …
We present the direct photon production for $1<p_{T}<10$ GeV/$c$ derived from continuum in the dielectron invariant mass region $0.1<M_{ee}<0.3$ GeV/$c^{2}$ from one billion $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV Au+Au events taken in year 2010 and 2011. A clear excess in the invariant yield compared to the number of binary collision scaled $p+p$ reference is observed in the \pt~range 1-4 GeV/$c$. Model calculations with contributions from thermal radiation and initial hard parton scattering are consistent within uncertainties with the direct photon invariant yield.
The transverse momentum spectra of secondary $η$ particles produced in $P+P$, $D+Au$ and $Au+Au$ interactions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV at different centralities have been studied in the light of a non-extensive thermodynamical approach. The results and the possible thermodynamical insights, thus obtained, about the hadronizing process have also been discussed in detail.
We investigate the dependence of elliptic flows $v_2$ on transverse momentum $P_T$ for charged hadrons produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions at high energy by using a multi-source ideal gas model which includes the interaction contribution of the emission sources. Our calculated results are approximately in agreement with the experimental data over a wider $P_T$ range from the STAR and ALICE Collaborations. It is found that the expansion factor increases linearly with the impact parameter from most central (0-5%) to mid-peripheral (35-40%) collisions.
We report the direct virtual photon invariant yields in the transverse momentum ranges $1\!<\!p_{T}\!<\!3$ GeV/$c$ and $5\!<\!p_T\!<\!10$ GeV/$c$ at mid-rapidity derived from the dielectron invariant mass continuum region $0.10<M_{ee}<0.28$ GeV/$c^{2}$ for 0-80\% minimum-bias Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV. A clear excess in the invariant yield compared to the number-of-binary-collisions ($N_{bin}$) scaled $p+p$ reference is observed in the $p_T$ range $1\!<\!p_{T}\!<\!3$ GeV/$c$. For $p_T\!>6$ GeV/$c$ the production follows $N_{bin}$ scaling. Model calculations with contributions…
The transverse momentum and pseudorapidity distributions of final-state particles produced in proton-lead (p-Pb) collisions at center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair \sqrt{s_{NN}}=5.02 TeV are studied in the framework of a multisource thermal model. Experimental results measured by the ALICE and CMS Collaborations are described by the Tsallis transverse momentum distribution and the two-cylinder pseudorapidity distribution. Based on the parameter values extracted from the transverse momentum and pseudorapidity distributions, some other quantities are extracted. Then, the structure pictures of …
The transverse mass spectra of light mesons produced in Au-Au collisions at 200 GeV/nucleon are analyzed in Tsallis statistics. In high energy collisions, it has been found that the spectra follow a generalized scaling law. We applied Tsallis statistics to the description of different particles using the scaling properties. The calculated results are in agreement with experimental data of PHENIX Collaboration. And, the temperature of emission sources is extracted consistently.
Recently, F. Wang commented on our work "Scaling properties of background- and chiral-magnetically-driven charge separation in heavy ion collisions at $\sqrt{s}_{\rm NN} = 200$ GeV" and made several claims to support his conclusion that our results are fallacious. His conclusion and claims are not only incorrect; they show a fundamental disconnect with the rudiments of the $R_{Ψ_2}(ΔS)$ correlator. This rebuttal addresses the root misconception responsible for Wang's false claims.
