We explore the properties of dark matter in theories with two universal extra dimensions, where the lightest Kaluza-Klein state is a spin-0 neutral particle, representing a six-dimensional photon polarized along the extra dimensions. Annihilation of this 'spinless photon' proceeds predominantly through Higgs boson exchange, and is largely independent of other Kaluza-Klein particles. The measured relic abundance sets an upper limit on the spinless photon mass of 500 GeV, which decreases to almost 200 GeV if the Higgs boson is light. Searching for Standard Model Adjoint Scalars with Diboson Resonance Signatures

We explore the phenomenology of scalar fields in the adjoint representation of SM gauge groups. We write a general set of dimension 5 effective operators in which SM adjoint scalars couple to pairs of standard model bosons. Using these effective operators, we explore new possible decay channels of a scalar color octet into a gluon and a Z boson/ gluon and a photon. We recast several analyses from Run I of the LHC to find constraints on an a scalar octet decaying into these channels, and we project the discovery potential of color octets in our gluon+photon channel for the 14 TeV run of LHC.

Phenomenology of the three-flavor PNJL model and thermal strange quark production

We study the temperature dependence of the adjoint Polyakov loop and its implication for the momentum spectrum of gluons in the mean-field approximation. This allows us to calculate the contribution of the thermal (transverse) gluons to the thermodynamic pressure. As an application, we evaluate the rates for the strange quark pair-production processes $q\bar{q} \to s\bar{s}$ and $gg \to s\bar{s}$ as functions of temperature including thermal effects on quark deconfinement and chiral symmetry breaking.

Monte Carlo techniques in small-x physics: Formal studies and phenomenology

We discuss the solution to the BFKL equation in the adjoint representation at LO and NLO accuracy for the N = 4 SUSY theory. We use Monte Carlo techniques to study numerically the Gluon Green's function at LO and NLO directly written in the transverse momentum space which allows for the factorization of its infrared divergencies. Finally, we discuss the applicability of our approach to phenomenological searches for the BKP Odderon at the LHC.

Hadronically decaying color-adjoint scalars at the LHC

We study the phenomenology of the pair-production of scalar color-octet electroweak singlet states at the LHC. Such states appear in many extensions of the Standard Model. They can be pair-produced copiously at the LHC and will signal themselves as resonances in multijet final states. Beyond the QCD pair-production process we consider a vectorlike confinement scenario with an additional color-octet vector state. Phenomenology of SUSY SU(5) with type I+III seesaw

We consider a supersymmetric SU(5) model where two neutrino masses are obtained via a mixed type I+III seesaw mechanism induced by the component fields of a single SU(5) adjoint. We have analyzed the phenomenology of the model paying particular attention to flavour violating processes and dark matter relic density, assuming universal boundary conditions. We have found that, for a seesaw scale larger than $10^{12÷13}$ GeV, BR$(μ\to e γ)$ is in the reach of the MEG experiment in sizable regions of the parameter space. Phenomenology of SU(5) low-energy realizations: the diphoton excess and Higgs flavor violation

We discuss different $\rm SU(5)$ low-energy realizations and illustrate their use with the diphoton excess and Higgs flavor violation, which require new physics at the TeV scale. In particular, we study two scenarios for a $750$ GeV resonance: in the first one the resonance belongs to the adjoint of $\rm SU(5)$, being either an $\rm SU(2)_L$ singlet or a triplet, while in the second case the signal is due to the CP-even and CP-odd states of a new $\rm SU(2)_L$ Higgs doublet belonging to a ${\bf 45}_H$ or a ${\bf 70}_H$ representations, giving rise to a two-Higgs doublet model at low energies. …

Conformality Emergent In String Phenomenology

Use of the AdS/CFT correspondence to arrive at phenomenological gauge field theories is discussed, focusing on the orbifolded case without supersymmetry. An abelian orbifold with the finite group Z_p can give rise to a G = U(N)^p gauge group with chiral fermions and complex scalars in different bi-fundamental representations of G. The naturalness issue is discussed, particularly the absence of quadratic divergences in the scalar propagator at one loop. We discuss the collider signatures of electroweak (1,0)-mode excitations in the framework of two universal extra dimension (2UED) at the LHC and ILC. In general, pair production of electroweak (1,0)-mode particles of 2UED gives rise to multi lepton plus missing transverse momentum signal. Upto 1/R = 400 GeV two lepton plus missing transverse momentum signal and upto 1/R = 600 GeV three lepton plus missing transverse momentum signal stands over the $5σ$ standard deviation of the Standard Model background at the LHC with $100 fb^{-1}$ integrated luminosity. We construct gauge theories in two extra dimensions compactified on the chiral square, which is a simple compactification that leads to chiral fermions in four dimensions. Stationarity of the action on the boundary specifies the boundary conditions for gauge fields.
