The Kerr-Newman spinning particle displays some remarkable relations to the Dirac electron and has a reach spinor structure which is based on a twistorial description of the Kerr congruence determined by the Kerr theorem. We consider the relation between this spinor-twistorial structure and spinors of the Dirac equation, and show that the Dirac equation may naturally be incorporated into Kerr-Schild formalism as a master equation controlling the twistorial structure of Kerr geometry. As a result, the Dirac electron acquires an extended space-time structure having clear coordinate description with natural incorporation of a gravitational field. The relation between the Dirac wave function and Kerr geometry is realized via a chain of links: {\it Dirac wave function $ \Rightarrow $ Complex Kerr-Newman Source $ \Rightarrow $ Kerr Theorem $ \Rightarrow $ Real Kerr geometry.} As a result, the wave function acquires the role of an ``order parameter'' which controls spin, dynamics, and twistorial polarization of Kerr-Newman space-time.
Kerr-Schild (KS) geometry of the rotating black-holes and spinning particles is based on the associated with Kerr theorem twistor structure which is defined by an analytic curve $F(Z)=0$ in the projective twistor space $Z \in CP^3 .$ On the other hand, there is a complex Newman representation which describes the source of Kerr-Newman solution as a "particle" propagating along a complex world-line $X(\t)\in CM^4,$ and this world-line determines the parameters of the Kerr generating function $F(Z).$ The complex world line is really a world-sheet, $\t= t + i σ,$ and the Kerr source may be conside…
Kerr-Schild (KS) geometry is based on a congruence of twistor null lines which forms a holographic space-time determined by the Kerr theorem. We describe in details integration of the non-stationary Debney-Kerr-Schild equations for electromagnetic excitations of black-holes taking into account the consistent back-reaction to metric. The exact KS solutions have the form of singular beam-like pulses supported on twistor null lines of the Kerr congruence. These twistor-beam pulses have very strong back reaction to metric and BH horizon and produce a fluctuating holographic KS geometry which takes…
Exact Kerr-Schild (KS) solutions for electromagnetic excitations of black-holes, have the form of singular beams supported on twistor lines of the KS geometry. These beams have a very strong back-reaction on the metric and horizon and create a fluctuating KS geometry occupying an intermediate position between the classical and quantum gravities. We consider the Kerr theorem, which determines the twistor structure of the KS geometry and the corresponding holographic prequantum space-time adapted to subsequent quantum treatment.
Kerr-Schild formalism is generalized by incorporation of the Kerr Theorem with polynomials of higher degrees in $Y\in CP^1.$ It leads to multisheeted twistor spaces and multiparticle solutions.
The Kerr spinning particle has a remarkable analytical twistorial structure. Analyzing electromagnetic excitations of the Kerr circular string which are aligned to this structure, we obtain a simple stringy skeleton of the spinning particle which is formed by a topological coupling of the Kerr circular singular string and by an axial singular stringy system. We show that the chiral traveling waves, related to an orientifold world-sheet of the axial stringy system, are described by the massive Dirac equation, so we argue that the axial string may play the part of a stringy carrier of wave funct…
Kerr's multi-particle solution is obtained on the base of the Kerr theorem. Choosing generating function of the Kerr theorem $F$ as a product of partial functions $F_i$ for spinning particles i=1,...k, we obtain a multi-sheeted, multi-twistorial space-time over $M^4$ possessing unusual properties. Twistorial structures of the i-th and j-th particles do not feel each other, forming a type of its internal space. Gravitation and electromagnetic interaction of the particles occurs via a singular twistor line which is common for twistorial structures of interacting particles. The obtained multi-par…
The Kerr theorem is revisited as part of the twistor program in six dimensions. The relationship between pure spinors and integrable 3-planes is investigated. The real condition for Lorentzian spacetimes is seen to induce a projective property in the space of solutions, reminiscent of the quaternionic structure of the 6-dimensional Lorentz group. The twistor equation (or Killing spinor equations generically) also has an interpretation as integrable null planes and a family of Einstein spacetimes with this property are presented in the Kerr-Schild fashion.
Ingoing and outgoing principal null geodesics in Kerr spacetimes are characterized as part of parametrized families of strings in complex Kerr geometry and are associated with holomorphic curves in twistor space with help of the Kerr theorem. They are defined on 2-dimensional twistor manifolds, one for outgoing and one for ingoing principal null congruences, and are solutions of free twistor string models on these 2-dimensional twistor manifolds. Such a twistor string model implies a conformal field theory and, assuming the applicability of the Cardy formula, agreement with the Bekenstein-Hawk…
We discuss basic features of the model of spinning particle based on the Kerr solution. It contains a very nontrivial {\it real} stringy structure consisting of the Kerr circular string and an axial stringy system. We consider also the complex and twistorial structures of the Kerr geometry and show that there is a {\it complex} twistor-string built of the complex N=2 chiral string with a twistorial $(x,θ)$ structure. By imbedding into the real Minkowski $\bf M^4$, the N=2 supersymmetry is partially broken and string acquires the open ends. Orientifolding this string, we identify the chiral and…
We discuss and prove an extended version of the Kerr theorem which allows one to construct exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell field equations from a holomorphic generating function $F$ of twistor variables. The exact multiparticle Kerr-Schild solutions are obtained from generating function of the form $F=\prod_i^k F_i, $ where $F_i$ are partial generating functions for the spinning particles $ i=1...k$. Solutions have an unusual multi-sheeted structure. Twistorial structures of the i-th and j-th particles do not feel each other, forming a type of its internal space. Gravitational and elec…
Structure of spinning particle based on the rotating black hole solution is considered. It has gyromagnetic ratio $g=2$ and a nontrivial twistorial and stringy systems. The mass and spin appear from excitations of the Kerr circular string, while the Dirac equation describes excitations of an {\it axial} stringy system which is responsible for scattering. Complex Kerr geometry contains an open twistor-string, target space of which is equivalent to the Witten's `diagonal' of the $ CP^3\times CP^{*3}$.
Four-dimensional Kerr-Schild geometry contains two stringy structures. The first one is the closed string formed by the Kerr singular ring, and the second one is an open complex string with was obtained in the complex structure of the Kerr-Schild geometry. The real and complex Kerr strings form together a membrane source of the over-rotating Kerr-Newman solution without horizon, $a =J/m >> m .$ It has also been obtained recently that the principal null congruence of the Kerr geometry, induced by the complex Kerr string, is determined by the Kerr theorem as a quartic in the projective twistor s…
We consider an extended version of the Kerr theorem incorporated in the Kerr-Schild formalism. It allows one to construct the series of exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell field equations from a holomorphic generating function $F$ of twistor variables. The exact multiparticle Kerr-Schild solutions are obtained from generating function of the form $F=\prod_i^k F_i, $ where $F_i$ are partial generating functions for the spinning particles $ i=1...k$. Gravitational and electromagnetic interaction of the spinning particles occurs via the light-like singular twistor lines. As a result, each spi…
We discuss the relation of the Kerr-Newman spinning particle to the Dirac electron and show that the Dirac equation may naturally be incorporated into Kerr-Schild formalism as a master equation controlling the Kerr-Newman geometry. As a result, the Dirac electron acquires an extended space-time structure of the Kerr-Newman geometry - singular ring of the Compton size and twistorial polarization of the gravitational and electromagnetic fields. Behavior of this Dirac -- Kerr-Newman system in the weak and slowly changed electromagnetic fields is determined by the wave function of the Dirac equati…
We consider Newman's representation of the Kerr geometry as a complex retarded-time construction generated by a source propagating along a complex world-line. We notice that the complex world-line forms really an open complex string, endpoints of which should have independent dynamics by the string excitations. The adjoined to complex Kerr string twistorial structure is determined by the Kerr theorem, and we obtain that the resulting Kerr's equation describes a quartic in projective twistor $CP^3 ,$ which is known as Calabi-Yau twofold of superstring theory. Along with other remarkable similar…

We show that higher degree Dirac currents of twistor and Killing spinors correspond to the hidden symmetries of the background spacetime which are generalizations of conformal Killing and Killing vector fields respectively. They are the generalizations of 1-form Dirac currents to higher degrees which are used in constructing the bosonic supercharges in supergravity theories. In the case of Killing spinors, we find that the equations satisfied by the higher degree Dirac currents are related to Maxwell-like and Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau equations. Correspondence between the Dirac currents and harmoni…
We present a holographic construction of solutions to the gravitational wave equation starting from QFT scattering amplitudes. The construction amounts to a change of basis from momentum to $(2,2)$ twistor space, together with a recently introduced analytic continuation between $(2,2)$ and $(1,3)$ spacetimes. We test the transform for three and four-point amplitudes in a classical limit, recovering both stationary and dynamical solutions in GR as parametrized by their tower of multipole moments, including the Kerr black hole. As a corollary, this provides a link between the Kerr-Schild classic…
We study the Dirac spectrum on compact Riemannian spin manifolds $M$ equipped with a metric connection $\nabla$ with skew torsion $T\inΛ^3M$ by means of twistor theory. An optimal lower bound for the first eigenvalue of the Dirac operator with torsion is found that generalizes Friedrich's classical Riemannian estimate. We also determine a novel twistor and Killing equation with torsion and use it to discuss the case in which the minimum is attained in the bound.
A Dirac bundle is a euclidean bundle over a riemannian manifold $M$ which is a compatible left $C\ell(M)$-module, together with a metric connection also compatible with the Clifford action in a natural way. We prove some vanishing theorems and introduce the twistor equation within this framework. In particular, we exhibit a characterization of solutions for this equation in terms of the Dirac operator $D$ and a suitable Weitzenböck-type curvature operator $\mathcal{R}$. Finally, we analyze the especial case of the Clifford bundle to prove existence of nontrivial solutions of the twistor equati…
It has been observed that exact solutions for electromagnetic (EM) excitations of the Kerr-Schild (KS) geometry form outgoing beams which have very strong back reaction to metric and break the black hole horizon. As a result, interaction of a black hole with nearby electromagnetic field and electromagnetic vacuum has to cover the horizon by a set of fluctuating microholes. We integrate and analyze the Debney-Kerr-Schild equations for electromagnetic excitations of a black-hole and obtain that the exact solutions for outgoing radiation contain two related but radically different components whic…
Recently, we introduced the "Newman-Penrose map," a novel correspondence between a certain class of solutions of Einstein's equations and self-dual solutions of the vacuum Maxwell equations, which we showed was closely related to the classical double copy. Here, we give an alternative definition of this correspondence in terms of quantities that are defined naturally on twistor space, and a shear-free null geodesic congruence on Minkowski space whose twistorial character is articulated by the Kerr theorem. The advantage of this reformulation is that it is purely geometrical in nature, being ma…
The Dirac electron theory and QED do not take into account gravitational field, while the corresponding Kerr-Newman solution with parameters of electron has very strong stringy, topological and non-local action on the Compton distances, polarizing space-time and deforming the Coulomb field. We discuss the relation of the electron to the Kerr's microgeon model and argue that the Kerr geometry may be hidden beyond the Quantum Theory. In particular, we show that the Foldi-Wouthuysen `mean-position' operator of the Dirac electron is related to a complex representation of the Kerr geometry, and to …
The earlier proposed conditions of (bi)quaternionic differentiability are nonlinear, give rize to the 2-spinor and the self-dual gauge structures and may be considered as the it generating system of equations (GSE) with respect to the source-free Maxwell, Yang-Mills and eikonal equations. We present the general solution of the GSE in terms of twistor variables, analize its rather specific gauge symmetry and demonstrate the relation of GSE to the equations of shear-free null congruences and, consequently, - to effective metrics of Kerr- Shild type. The concept of particles as singularities of p…
The basic first-order differential operators of spin geometry that are Dirac operator and twistor operator are considered. Special types of spinors defined from these operators such as twistor spinors and Killing spinors are discussed. Symmetry operators of massless and massive Dirac equations are introduced and relevant symmetry operators of twistor spinors and Killing spinors are constructed from Killing-Yano (KY) and conformal Killing-Yano (CKY) forms in constant curvature and Einstein manifolds. The squaring map of spinors gives KY and CKY forms for Killing and twistor spinors respectively…
We model the continuous material component of the Kerr-Newman disk as a discrete distribution of superluminal particles undergoing quantized orbital rotation with velocity $v/c = a/r$. By matching the discrete distribution in the continuous limit with the Kerr disk densities, we derive the quantized energy and momentum states of the superluminal orbits. We conclude that the Kerr-Newman disk may be modeled as a Dirac sea of these superluminal states and we identify possible excited states of the disk.
We give a brief overview of a non-Lagrangian approach to field theory based on a generalization of the Kerr-Penrose theorem and algebraic twistor equations. Explicit algorithms for obtaining the set of fundamental (Maxwell, SL(2, C)-Yang-Mills, spinor Weyl and curvature) fields associated with every solution of the basic system of algebraic equations are reviewed. The notion of a boost-invariant solution is introduced, and the unique axially-symmetric and boost-invariant solution which can be generated by twistor functions is obtained, together with the associated fields. It is found that this…
By employing a pseudo-orthonormal coordinate-free approach, the Dirac equation for particles in the Kerr--Newman spacetime is separated into its radial and angular parts. In the massless case to which a special attention is given, the general Heun-type equations turn into their confluent form. We show how one recovers some results previously obtained in literature, by other means.
Making use of twistor structures and the Kerr theorem for shear-free null geodesic congruences, an infinite family of electromagnetic fields satisfying the homogeneous Maxwell equations in flat Minkowski and the associated curved Kerr-Schild backgrounds is obtained for any such congruence in a purely algebraic way. Simple examples of invariant axisymmetric Maxwell fields are presented.
In this short paper, we review the Dirac equation on the zero-gravity Kerr-Newman spacetime. Our main objective is to provide a correspondence between the classification of the bound states for the zGKN spectrum and the usual hydrogenic states $1s_{1/2}$, $2s_{1/2}$, etc. of the Hydrogen atom.
The 4d Kerr geometry displays many wonderful relations with quantum world and, in particular, with superstring theory. The lightlike structure of fields near the Kerr singular ring is similar to the structure of Sen solution for a closed heterotic string. Another string, open and complex, appears in the complex representation of the Kerr geometry initiated by Lind and Newman . Combination of these strings forms a membrane source of the Kerr geometry which is parallel to the string/M-theory unification. In this paper we give one more evidence of this relationship, emergence of the Calabi-Yau tw…
We intrinsically characterize separability of the Dirac equation in Kerr-NUT-(A)dS spacetimes in all dimensions. Namely, we explicitly demonstrate that in such spacetimes there exists a complete set of first-order mutually commuting operators, one of which is the Dirac operator, that allows for common eigenfunctions which can be found in a separated form and correspond precisely to the general solution of the Dirac equation found by Oota and Yasui [arXiv:0711.0078]. Since all the operators in the set can be generated from the principal conformal Killing-Yano tensor, this establishes the (up to…
We develop the basics of twistor theory in de Sitter space, up to the Penrose transform for free massless fields. We treat de Sitter space as fundamental, as one does for Minkowski space in conventional introductions to twistor theory. This involves viewing twistors as spinors of the de Sitter group SO(4,1). When attached to a spacetime point, such a twistor can be reinterpreted as a local SO(3,1) Dirac spinor. Our approach highlights the antipodal map in de Sitter space, which gives rise to doublings in the standard relations between twistors and spacetime. In particular, one can generate a f…
We have recently proposed a deterministic matrix dynamics at the Planck scale, for gravity coupled to Dirac fermions, evolving in the so-called Connes time. By coarse-graining this dynamics over time intervals much larger than Planck time, we derived the space-time manifold, quantum theory, and classical general relativity, as low energy emergent approximations to the underlying matrix dynamics. In the present article, we show how to include Yang-Mills gauge fields in this Planck scale matrix dynamics. We do this by appropriately modifying the fundamental action for the previously introduced `…
We investigate the relationship between conformal and spin structure on lorentzian manifolds and see how their compatibility influences the formulation of rigid supersymmetric field theories. In dimensions three, four, six and ten, we show that if the Dirac current associated with a generic spinor defines a null conformal Killing vector then the spinor must obey a twistor equation with respect to a certain connection with torsion. Of the theories we consider, those with classical superconformal symmetry in Minkowski space can be reformulated as rigid supersymmetric theories on any lorentzian m…
In this paper we compute the square root of the generalized squared total angular momentum operator $J$ for a Dirac particle in the Kerr-Newman metric. The separation constant $λ$ arising from the Chandrasekahr separation ansatz turns out to be the eigenvalue of $J$. After proving that $J$ is a symmetry operator, we show the completeness of Chandrasekhar Ansatz for the Dirac equation in oblate spheroidal coordinates and derive an explicit formula for the propagator $e^{-itH}$.
The combined Dirac-Kerr model of electron is suggested, in which electron has extended space-time structure of Kerr geometry, and the Dirac equation plays the role of a master equation controlling polarization of the Kerr congruence. The source contains a spinning disk bounded by a closed singular string of Compton size. It is conjectured that this Compton structure may be observed for polarized electrons under a very soft coherent scattering.
It is shown that the Dirac equation is separable by variables in a five-dimensional rotating Kerr-(anti-)de Sitter black hole with two independent angular momenta. A first order symmetry operator that commutes with the Dirac operator is constructed in terms of a rank-three Killing-Yano tensor whose square is a second order symmetric Stackel-Killing tensor admitted by the five-dimensional Kerr-(anti-)de Sitter spacetime. We highlight the construction procedure of such a symmetry operator. In addition, the first law of black hole thermodynamics has been extended to the case that the cosmological…
We present a gauged twistor model of a free massive spinning particle in four-dimensional Minkowski space. This model is governed by an action, referred to here as the gauged generalized Shirafuji (GGS) action, that consists of twistor variables, auxiliary variables, and $U(1)$ and $SU(2)$ gauge fields on the one-dimensional parameter space of a particle's worldline. The GGS action remains invariant under reparametrization and the local $U(1)$ and $SU(2)$ transformations of the relevant variables, although the $SU(2)$ symmetry is nonlinearly realized. We consider the canonical Hamiltonian form…
We find the quasinormal modes of the charged scalar and Dirac fields in the background of the rotating charged black holes, described by the Kerr-Newman-de Sitter solution. The dependence of the quasinormal spectrum upon the black hole parameters mass M, angular momentum a, charge Q, as well as on values of the Λ-term and field charge q is investigated. Special attention is given to the near extremal limit of the black hole charge. In particular, we find that for both scalar and Dirac fields, charged perturbations decay quicker for q>0 and slower for q<0 for values of black holes charge Q less…
We study scattering equations and formulas for tree amplitudes of various theories in four dimensions, in terms of spinor helicity variables and on-shell superspace for supersymmetric theories. As originally obtained in Witten's twistor string theory and other twistor-string models, the equations can take either polynomial or rational forms, and we clarify the simple relation between them. We present new, four-dimensional formulas for all tree amplitudes in the non-linear sigma model, a special Galileon theory and the maximally supersymmetric completion of the Dirac-Born-Infeld theory. The Dirac quasinormal modes (QNMs) of the Kerr-Newman black hole are investigated using continued fraction approach. It is shown that the quasinormal frequencies in the complex $ω$ plane move counterclockwise as the charge or angular momentum per unit mass of the black hole increases. They get a spiral-like shape, moving out of their Schwarzschild or Reissner-Nordström values and "looping in" towards some limiting frequencies as the charge and angular momentum per unit mass tend to their extremal values. The number of the spirals increases as the overtone number increases but decreases as the …
We formulate the Dirac equation for a massive neutral spin-half particle on a rotating black hole spacetime, and we consider its (quasi)bound states: gravitationally-trapped modes which are regular across the future event horizon. These bound states decay with time, due to the absence of superradiance in the (single-particle) Dirac field. We introduce a practical method for computing the spectrum of energy levels and decay rates, and we compare our numerical results with known asymptotic results in the small-$M μ$ and large-$M μ$ regimes. By applying perturbation theory in a horizon-penetratin…
Chandrasekhar separated the Dirac equation for spinning and massive particles in Kerr geometry in radial and angular parts. Chakrabarti solved the angular equation and found the corresponding eigenvalues for different Kerr parameters. The radial equations were solved asymptotically by Chandrasekhar. In the present paper, we use the WKB approximation to solve the spatially complete radial equation and calculate analytical expressions of radial wave functions for a set of Kerr and wave parameters. From these solutions we obtain local values of reflection and transmission coefficients.
It is shown, in the context of a recent formulation of elementary particles in terms of, what may be called, a Quantum Mechanical Kerr-Newman metric, that spin is a consequence of a space-time cut off at the Compton wavelength and Compton time scale. On this basis, we deduce the Dirac equation from a simple coordinate transformation.
For m^2 < a^2 + q^2, with m, a, and q respectively the source mass, angular momentum per unit mass, and electric charge, the Kerr--Newman (KN) solution of Einstein's equation reduces to a naked singularity of circular shape, enclosing a disk across which the metric components fail to be smooth. By considering the Hawking and Ellis extended interpretation of the KN spacetime, it is shown first that, similarly to the electron-positron system, this solution presents four inequivalent classical states. Next, it is shown that due to the topological structure of the extended KN spacetime it does adm…
The dynamics of a massive, relativistic spinning particle could be described either by the Dirac equation or by the Kerr solution of Einstein equations. However, one does not know a priori as to which of the two systems of equations should be used in a given situation, and the choice is dictated by experiments. It is expected that the Dirac equation holds for microscopic masses, and the Kerr solution for macroscopic masses. This suggests that Einstein gravity and the Dirac theory are limiting cases of a common underlying theoretical framework. Here we propose that such a framework is provided …
Quasinormal modes of a massive Dirac field were calculated for various static black hole backgrounds with the help of the WKB formula. These estimations, however, are rough and valid only for very small values of $μM$, where $M$ and $μ$ are mass of the black hole and field respectively. Thus, no accurate calculations of massive Dirac modes are known even for the Schwarzschild black hole and this is all the more so for the Kerr solution. Here we calculate quasinormal modes of a massive Dirac field in the Kerr background. We have shown that the infinitely long-lived quasinormal modes (quasireson…
By introducing a specific etheric-like vector in the Dirac equation with Lorentz Invariance Violation (LIV) in the curved spacetime, an improved method for quantum tunneling radiation of fermions is proposed. As an example, we apply this new method to a charged axisymmetric Kerr-Newman black hole. Firstly, considering LIV theory, we derive a modified dynamical equation of fermion with spin 1/2 in the Kerr-Newman black hole spacetime. Then we solve the equation and find the increase or decrease of black hole's Hawking temperature and entropy are related to constants $a$ and $c$ of the Dirac equ…
The Dirac theory of electron and QED neglect gravitational field, while the corresponding to electron Kerr-Newman gravitational field has very strong influence on the Compton distances. It polarizes space-time, deforms the Coulomb field and changes topology. We argue that the Kerr geometry may be hidden beyond the Quantum Theory, representing a complimentary space-time description.
Similarly as in AdS/CFT, the requirement that the action for spinors be stationary for solutions to the Dirac equation with fixed boundary conditions determines the form of the boundary term that needs to be added to the standard Dirac action in Kerr/CFT. We determine this boundary term and make use of it to calculate the two-point function for spinor fields in Kerr/CFT. This two-point function agrees with the correlator of a two dimensional relativistic conformal field theory.
Exact solutions of the Dirac general relativistic equation (DE) that describe the dynamics of a massive, electrically charged particle with half-integer spin in the curved spacetime geometry of an electrically charged, rotating Kerr-Newman-(anti) de Sitter black hole (BH) are investigated. We first, derive the DE in the Kerr-Newman-de Sitter (KNdS) BH background using a generalised Kinnersley null tetrad in the Newman-Penrose formalism. In this frame, we prove the separation of the DE into ordinary differential equations for the radial and angular parts. Under specific transformations of the i…
We show the appearance of geometric phase in a Dirac particle traversing in non-relativistic limit in a time-independent gravitational field. This turns out to be similar to the one originally described as a geometric phase in magnetic fields. We explore the geometric phase in the Kerr and Schwarzschild geometries, which have significant astrophysical implications. Nevertheless, the work can be extended to any spacetime background including that of time-dependent. In the Kerr background, i.e. around a rotating black hole, geometric phase reveals both the Aharonov-Bohm effect and Pancharatnam-B…
The self-conjugate Dirac Hamiltonian is obtained in the Kerr-Newman field. A transition is implemented to a Schrödinger-type relativistic equation. For the case where the angular and radial variables are not separated, the method of obtaining effective potentials is generalized. Effective potentials have isolated singularities on the event horizons as well as at certain parameters of the Kerr-Newman field and of the fermion in the neighborhoods of some values of the radial coordinate. For the extreme Kerr-Newman field, the impossibility of existence of stationary bound states of half-spin part…
