Inspired by the results of [R. Adin, A. Postnikov, Y. Roichman, Combinatorial Gelfand model, preprint math.RT arXiv:0709.3962], we propose combinatorial Gelfand models for semigroup algebras of some finite semigroups, which include the symmetric inverse semigroup, the dual symmetric inverse semigroup, the maximal factorizable subsemigroup in the dual symmetric inverse semigroup, and the factor power of the symmetric group. Furthermore we extend the Gelfand model for the semigroup algebras of the symmetric inverse semigroup to a Gelfand model for the $q$-rook monoid algebra.
We consider a tower of generalized rook monoid algebras over the field $\mathbb{C}$ of complex numbers and observe that the Bratteli diagram associated to this tower is a simple graph. We construct simple modules and describe Jucys-Murphy elements for generalized rook monoid algebras. Over an algebraically closed field $\Bbbk$ of positive characteristic $p$, utilizing Jucys-Murphy elements of rook monoid algebras, for $0\leq i\leq p-1$ we define the corresponding $i$-restriction and $i$-induction functors along with two extra functors. On the direct sum $\mathcal{G}_{\mathbb{C}}$ of the Grothe…
In this paper, we discuss modules and structures of the planar upper triangular rook monoid B_n. We first show that the order of B_n is a Catalan number, then we investigate the properties of a module V over B_n generated by a set of elements v_S indexed by the power set of {1, ..., n}. We find that every nonzero submodule of V is cyclic and completely decomposable; we give a necessary and sufficient condition for a submodule of V to be indecomposable. We show that every irreducible submodule of V is 1-dimensional. Furthermore, we give a formula for calculating the dimension of every submodule…
We show that a proper degeneracy at $q=0$ of the $q$-deformed rook monoid of Solomon is the algebra of a monoid $R_n^0$ namely the $0$-rook monoid, in the same vein as Norton's $0$-Hecke algebra being the algebra of a monoid $H_n^0 = H^0(A_{n-1})$ (in Cartan type~$A_{n-1}$). As expected, $R_n^0$ is closely related to the latter: it contains the $H^0(A_{n-1})$ monoid and is a quotient of $H^0(B_{n})$. We give a presentation for this monoid as well as a combinatorial realization as functions acting on the classical rook monoid itself. On the way we get a Matsumoto theorem for the rook monoid a r…
We obtain several presentations by generators and relations for the rook partition monoids and algebras, as well as their singular ideals. Among other results, we also calculate the minimal sizes of generating sets (some of our presentations use such minimal-size generating sets), and show that the singular part of the rook partition monoid is generated by its idempotents.
Kudryavtseva and Mazorchuk exhibited Schur-Weyl duality between the rook monoid algebra $\mathbb{C}R_n$ and the subalgebra $\mathbb{C}I_k$ of the partition algebra $\mathbb{C} A_k(n)$ acting on $(\mathbb{C}^n)^{\otimes k}$. In this paper, we consider a subalgebra $\mathbb{C}I_{k+\frac{1}{2}}$ of $\mathbb{C} I_{k+1}$ such that there is Schur-Weyl duality between the actions of $\mathbb{C} R_{n-1}$ and $\mathbb{C} I_{k+\frac{1}{2}}$ on $(\mathbb{C}^n)^{\otimes k}$. This paper studies the representation theory of partition algebras $\mathbb{C}I_k$ and $\mathbb{C}I_{k+\frac{1}{2}}$ for rook monoid…
Let $m,n\in \mathbb{N}$, and $V$ be a $m$-dimensional vector space over a field $F$ of characteristic $0$. Let $U=F\oplus V$ and $R_n$ be the rook monoid. In this paper, we construct a certain quasi-idempotent in the annihilator of $U^{\otimes n}$ in $FR_n$, which comes from some one-dimensional two-sided ideal of rook monoid algebra. We show that the two-sided ideal generated by this element is indeed the whole annihilator of $U^{\otimes n}$ in $FR_n$.
This paper gives a general algorithm for computing the character table of any Renner monoid Hecke algebra, by adapting and generalizing techniques of Solomon used to study the rook monoid. The character table of the Hecke algebra of the rook monoid (i.e., the Cartan type $A$ Renner monoid) was computed earlier by Dieng, Halverson, and Poladian using different methods. Our approach uses analogues of so-called A- and B-matrices of Solomon. In addition to the algorithm, we give explicit combinatorial formulas for the A- and B-matrices in Cartan type $C$ and use them to obtain an explicit descript…
The partition algebra is an associative algebra with a basis of set-partition diagrams and multiplication given by diagram concatenation. It contains as subalgebras a large class of diagram algebras including the Brauer, planar partition, rook monoid, rook-Brauer, Temperley-Lieb, Motzkin, planar rook monoid, and symmetric group algebras. We give a construction of the irreducible modules of these algebras in two isomorphic ways: first, as the span of symmetric diagrams on which the algebra acts by conjugation twisted with an irreducible symmetric group representation and, second, on a basis ind…
We study the partial Brauer monoid and its planar submonoid, the Motzkin monoid. We conduct a thorough investigation of the structure of both monoids, providing information on normal forms, Green's relations, regularity, ideals, idempotent generation, minimal (idempotent) generating sets, and so on. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions under which the ideals of these monoids are idempotent-generated. We find formulae for the rank (smallest size of a generating set) of each ideal, and for the idempotent rank (smallest size of an idempotent generating set) of the idempotent-generated su…
