A consistent picture of the Au+Au and D+Au, s^1/2 = 200 A GeV measurements at RHIC obtained with the PHENIX, STAR, PHOBOS and BRAHMS detectors including both the rapidity and transverse momentum spectra was previously developed with the simulation LUCIFER. The approach was modeled on the early production of a fluid of pre-hadrons after the completion of an initial, phase of high energy interactions. The formation of pre-hadrons is discussed here, in a perturbative QCD approach as advocated by Kopeliovich, Nemchik and Schmidt. In the second phase of LUCIFER, a considerably lower energy hadron-like cascade ensues. Since the dominant collisions occurring in this latter phase are meson-meson in character while the initial collisions are between baryons, i.e. both involve hadron sized interaction cross-sections, there is good reason to suspect that the observed elliptical flow will be produced naturally, and this is indeed found to be the case.
The production and thermalization of partons liberated in relativistic heavy ioncollisions is investigated within the parton cascade model. The momentum distribution of the partons near z=0 is found to become isotropic beyond about 1 fm/c after the overlap for the collision of lead nuclei at $\sqrt{s}=20 A GeV$ indicating a thermalization. At $\sqrt{s}=200 A GeV$ this is attained by about 0.5 fm/c after the complete overlap.
Elliptic flow at RHIC is computed event-by-event with NeXSPheRIO. We show that when symmetry of the particle distribution in relation to the reaction plane is assumed, as usually done in the experimental extraction of elliptic flow, there is a disagreement between the true and reconstructed elliptic flows (15-30% for $η$=0, 30% for $p_\perp$=0.5 GeV). We suggest a possible way to take into account the asymmetry and get good agreement between these elliptic flows.
In a series of recent publications, a new approach to the non-relativistic reduction of the electromagnetic current operator in calculations of electro-nuclear reactions has been introduced. In one of these papers, the conjecture that at energies of a few GeV, the bulk of the relativistic effects comes from the current and not from the nuclear dynamics was made, based on the large relativistic effects in the transverse-longitudinal response. Here, we explicitly compare a fully relativistic, manifestly covariant calculation performed with the Gross equation, with a calculation that uses a non-r…
A "breathing'' octupole $^{208}$Pb nucleus: resolving the elliptical-to-triangular azimuthal anisotropy puzzle in ultracentral relativistic heavy ion collisions
We use the relativistic distorted wave impulse approximation to analyze data on 16O(e,e'p)15N at |Q^2|\leq 0.4 (GeV/c)^2 that were obtained by different groups and seemed controversial. Results for differential cross-sections, response functions and A_TL asymmetry are discussed and compared to different sets of experimental data for proton knockout from p_{1/2} and p_{3/2} shells in 16O. We compare with a nonrelativistic approach to better identify relativistic effects. The present relativistic approach is found to accommodate most of the discrepancy between data from different groups, smoothi…
The relativistic hydrodynamical model HYLANDER-C is used to give estimates for single inclusive particle momentum spectra in $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 $GeV/nucleon$ Au+Au collisions that will be investigated experimentally in the near future. The predictions are based on initial conditions that the initial fireball has a longitudinal extension of 1.6 $fm$ and an initial energy density of 30.8 $GeV/fm^3$ as obtained from a cascade model. For the collision energy considered here, different stopping scenarios are explored for the first time. Our calculations give particle yields of the order of 10,000 to …
Predictions from the RQMD model are systematically compared to recently published charged hadron distributions of AGS Experiment 802 for central Si+Au collisions at 14.6$A$ GeV/$c$, taking into account both the experimental trigger condition and acceptance. The main features of the data, including K$^+$ production, can be understood quantitatively to better than 20\% within the framework of the model, although several discrepancies are found, most importantly for the proton spectra.
We employ a recent approach to the non-relativistic reduction of the electromagnetic current operator in calculations of electronuclear reactions. In contrast to the traditional scheme, where approximations are made for the transferred momentum, transferred energy and initial momentum of the struck nucleon in obtaining an on-shell inspired form for the current, we treat the problem exactly for the transferred energy and transferred momentum. We calculate response functions for the reaction $^2H(e,e'p)n$ at CEBAF (TJNAF) energies and find large relativistic corrections. We also show that in Pla…
Assuming the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process and relativistic diffusion equations with three sources at y = 0, we analyze eta-distributions of d+Au collision as well as Au+Au collisions at sqrt{s_{NN}} = 130 GeV and 200 GeV.
We investigate pion source sizes through the Yano-Koonin-Podgoretski\uı (YKP) parametrization for the Hanbury-Brown Twiss (HBT) effect in the CERN-SPS 158 GeV/A central collisions. We calculate two-particle correlation functions numerically based on a (3+1)-dimensional relativistic hydrodynamics with a first order phase transition and analyze the pair momentum dependence of the HBT radii extracted from the YKP parametrization in detail. We find that even in the case of a first order phase transition, expansion and the surface dominant freeze-out make the source in the hydrodynamical model opaq…
Using the isospin-dependent relativistic Vlasov-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (RVUU) model, we study charged pion ($π^\pm$) production in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$ 2.4 GeV. By fitting the density dependence of the $Δ$ resonance production cross section in nuclear medium to reproduce the experimental $π^\pm$ multiplicities measured by the HADES Collaboration, we obtain a good description of the rapidity distributions and transverse momentum spectra of $π^\pm$ in collisions at various centralities. Some shortcomings in the description of $π^{\pm}$ production may indicate the need for including th…
The implications of parton recombination processes on the dynamics of ultrarelativistic heavy-ion reactions are investigated. To do so, the quark-gluon string transport model has been extended for partonic recombination and fusion processes. Parton recombination leads to short equilibration times and improves significantly on the theoretical description of measured directed and elliptic flow, i.e., v_1 and v_2, distributions in Au+Au collisions at sqrt(s) = 200 GeV, in particular what concerns their pseudorapidity dependence. The shape of v_2(eta) is found to be closely related to fast thermal…
Triple differential cross sections of pions in heavy ion collisions at 1 GeV/nucl. are studied with the IQMD model. After discussing general properties of $Δ$ resonance and pion production we focus on azimuthal correlations: At projectile- and target-rapidities we observe an anticorrelation in the in-plane transverse momentum between pions and protons. At c.m.-rapidity, however, we find that high $p_t$ pions are being preferentially emitted perpendicular to the event-plane. We investigate the causes of those correlations and their sensitivity on the density and momentum dependence of the real …
Identical boson Hanbury-Brown-Twiss interferometry as applied to relativistic heavy-ion collisions is reviewed. Emphasis is placed on the use of hadronic scattering models to interpret the physical significance of experimental results. Interferometric studies with center-of-mass energies from < 1 GeV/nucleon up to 5500 GeV/nucleon are considered.
We study the production and dynamics of heavy quarks in the parton cascade model for relativistic heavy ion collisions. The model is motivated by the QCD parton picture and describes the dynamics of an ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collision in terms of cascading partons which undergo scattering and multiplication while propagating. We focus on the dynamics of charm quark production and evolution in p+p and Au+Au collisions for several different interaction scenarios, i.e. collisions only between primary partons without radiation of gluons, multiple collisions without radiation of gluons and mu…
A comprehensive and detailed analysis of hadronic abundances measured in Au-Au collisions at RHIC at sqrt(s)_NN = 130 and 200 GeV is presented. The rapidity densities measured in the central rapidity region have been fitted to the statistical hadronization model and the chemical freeze-out parameters determined as a function of centrality, using data from experiments BRAHMS, PHENIX and STAR. The chemical freeze-out temperature turns out to be independent of centrality to a few percent accuracy, whereas the strangeness under-saturation parameter gamma_S decreases from almost unity in central co…
A simple model based on relativistic geometry and final-state hadronic rescattering is used to predict pion source parameters extracted in two-pion femtoscopy studies of proton-proton collisions at s**(1/2) = 200 GeV. From studying the momentum and particle multiplicity dependences of these parameters in the context of this model and assuming a very short hadronization time, flow-like behavior is seen which resembles the flow behavior commonly observed in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.
We investigate the rapidity dependence of the elliptical flow in heavy ion collisions at 200 GeV (cms), by employing a three-dimensional hydrodynamic evolution, based on different initial conditions, and different freeze-out scenarios. It will be shown that the form of pseudo-rapidity ($η$) dependence of the elliptical flow is almost identical to space-time-rapidity ($η_{s}$) dependence of the initial energy distribution, independent of the freeze-out prescriptions.
The features of net baryon productions and collective flow in relativistic heavy-ion collisions at energies reached at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), CERN Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) and BNL Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) with the model of Non-Uniform Flow Model(NUFM) are systematically studied in this paper. Especially we predict the feature of net baryon productions and collective flow at LHC $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=5500 GeV basing on the detailed study of that at RHIC $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=62.4 and 200GeV. The dependencies of the features of b…
We present a calculation of the global polarization of Lambda hyperons in relativistic Au-Au collisions at RHIC Beam Energy Scan range sqrt{s}_NN = 7.7 - 200 GeV with a 3+1 dimensional cascade + viscous hydro + cascade model, UrQMD+vHLLE. Within this model, the mean polarization of Lambda in the out-of-plane direction is predicted to decrease rapidly with collision energy from a top value of about 2% at the lowest energy examined. We explore the connection between the polarization signal and thermal vorticity and estimate the feed-down contribution to Lambda polarization due to the decay of hi…
Relativistic and unfactorized calculations for the nuclear transparency extracted from exclusive A(e,e'p) reactions for 0.3 \leq Q^2 \leq 10 (GeV/c)^2 are presented for the target nuclei C, Si, Fe and Pb. For Q^2 \geq 0.6 (GeV/c)^2, the transparency results are computed within the framework of the recently developed relativistic multiple-scattering Glauber approximation (RMSGA). The target-mass and Q^2 dependence of the RMSGA predictions are compared with relativistic distorted-wave impulse approximation (RDWIA) calculations. Despite the very different model assumptions underlying the treatmen…
Nuclear transparency in (e,e'p) reactions is evaluated in a fully relativistic distorted wave impulse approximation model. The relativistic mean field theory is used for the bound state and the Pauli reduction for the scattering state, which is calculated from a relativistic optical potential. Results for selected nuclei are displayed in a Q^2 range between 0.3 and 1.8 (GeV/c)^2 and compared with recent electron scattering data. For Q^2 = 0.3 (GeV/c)^2 the results are lower than data; for higher Q^2 they are in reasonable agreement with data. The sensitivity of the model to different prescript…
We compute the modification of the quark condensate $<\bar{q} q>$ in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions and estimate the 4-volume, where the quark condensate is small ($<\bar{q}q>/<\bar{q} q>_0\leq$ 0.1--0.3) using hadron phase-space distributions obtained with the quark-gluon string model. As a function of the beam energy the 4-volume rises sharply at a beam energy $E_{lab}/A \simeq$ (2--5) GeV, remains roughly constant up to beam energies $\simeq 20$ GeV and rises at higher energies. At low energies the reduction of the condensate is mainly due to baryons, while at higher energies the r…
We investigate hadronic particle spectra and flow characteristics of heavy-ion reactions in the FAIR/NICA energy range of $1\ A{\rm GeV} \le E_{\rm lab} \le 10\ A{\rm GeV}$ within a relativistic ideal hydrodynamic one-fluid approach. The particlization is realized by sampling the Cooper-Frye distribution for a grand canonical hadron gas on a hypersurface of constant energy density. Results of the hydrodynamic calculations for different underlying equations of state are presented and compared with experimental data and microscopic transport simulations. The sensitivity of the approach to physic…
We analyze the spectra of pions and protons in heavy-ion collisions at relativistic energies from 2 A GeV to 65+65 A GeV by using a jet-implemented hadron-string cascade model. In this energy region, hadron transverse mass spectra first show softening until SPS energies, and re-hardening may emerge at RHIC energies. Since hadronic matter is expected to show only softening at higher energy densities, this re-hardening of spectra can be interpreted as a good signature of the quark-gluon plasma formation.
The transverse momentum spectra of secondary $η$ particles produced in $P+P$, $D+Au$ and $Au+Au$ interactions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV at different centralities have been studied in the light of a non-extensive thermodynamical approach. The results and the possible thermodynamical insights, thus obtained, about the hadronizing process have also been discussed in detail.
Preconception-free analyses of the inclusive invariant transverse-momentum distribution data taken from the measurements of Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=130$ GeV and $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV have been performed. It is observed that the distributions exhibit for $p_{T}\geq 2$ GeV/c remarkably good power-law behavior ($p_{T}$-scaling) with general regularities. This power-law behavior leads us in particular to recognize that the concept of centrality, albeit its simple appearance, is rather complex; its underlying geometrical structure has to be understood in terms of fractal dimensions. Ex…
It is proposed to identify a strong electric field created during relativistic collisions of asymmetric nuclei via observation of pseudorapidity and transverse momentum distributions of hadrons with the same mass but opposite charges. The detailed calculation results for the directed flow within the Parton-Hadron String Dynamics model are given for Cu-Au interactions at the NICA collision energies of $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=9$ and $5$ GeV. The separation effect is observable at 9 GeV as clearly as at 200 GeV
The bound-free electron-positron pair production is considered for relativistic heavy ion collisions. In particular, cross sections are calculated for the pair production with the simultaneous capture of the electron into the 1s ground state of one of the ions and for energies that are relevant for the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Colliders (LHC). In the framework of perturbation theory, we applied Monte-Carlo integration techniques to compute the lowest-order Feynman diagrams amplitudes by using Darwin wave functions for the bound states of the elec- trons and S…
We simulate the fragmentation processes in the \CaCa collisions at the bombarding energy 1.05 GeV/u using the Lorentz covariant RQMD and the non-covariant QMD approaches, incorporated with the statistical decay model. By comparing the results of RQMD with those of QMD, we examine the relativistic effects and find that the multiplicity of the $α$ particle after the statistical decay process is sensitive to the relativistic effects. It is shown that the Lorentz covariant approach is necessary to analyze the fragmentation process even at the energy around \Elab = 1 GeV/u as long as we are concern…
The BUU transport model is applied to study strangeness and pion production in nucleus-nucleus collisions. Starting from proton induced reactions, we further investigate Si+Au, Au+Au and Pb+Pb collisions in the energy range between 2 and 40 A$\cdot$GeV and compare with data and with other transport calculations. The $q \bar q$ annihilation, or resonance, channel simulated by the string model in meson-nucleon collisions at $\sqrt{s} > 2$ GeV is introduced. The importance of this channel for a good description of the proton-nucleus data on $K^+$ production is demonstrated. We, furthermore, show …
We present a systematic analysis of two-pion interferometry for the central Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{S_{NN}}$ = 3, 5, 7, 11, 17, 27, 39, 62, 130 and 200 GeV/c with the help of a multiphase transport (AMPT) model. Emission source-size radius parameters $R_{long}$, $R_{out}$, $R_{side}$ and the chaotic parameter $λ$ are extracted and compared with the experimental data. Transverse momentum and azimuthal angle dependencies of the HBT radii are also discussed for central Au+Au collisions at 200 GeV/c. The results show that the HBT radii in central collisions do not change much above 7 GeV/c. For…
Based on a hydrodynamical model, we compare 130 GeV/$A$ Au+Au collisions at RHIC and 17 GeV/$A$ Pb+Pb collisions at SPS. The model well reproduces the single-particle distributions of both RHIC and SPS. The numerical solution indicates that huge amount of collision energy in RHIC is mainly used to produce a large extent of hot fluid rather than to make a high temperature matter; longitudinal extent of the hot fluid in RHIC is much larger than that of SPS and initial energy density of the fluid is only 5% higher than the one in SPS. The solution well describes the HBT radii at SPS energy but sh…
We present a nonperturbative dynamical study of $e^+e^-$ production in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions from AGS to SPS energies on the basis of the covariant transport approach HSD. For p + Be reactions the dilepton yield for invariant masses $M \leq 1.4$ GeV is found to be dominated by the decays of the $η, ρ, ω$ and $Φ$ mesons at all energies from 10 -- 450 GeV. For nucleus-nucleus collisions, however, the dilepton yield shows an additional large contribution from $π^+π^-$, $K^+K^-$ and $πρ$ channels. Systematic studies are presented for the 'free' meson mass scenario in compar…
We calculate the spectra of high energy photons emitted in relativistic Au+Au collisions for various centralities and compare to data recently collected at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider by the PHENIX collaboration. Our results for photons from primary hard scatterings and photons from interactions of jets with the medium are consistent with the measurements of neutral pion and direct photon production in p+p collisions and give a good description of direct photon spectra measured in Au+Au collisions. The contribution of photons from jet-to-photon conversion in the medium can be as large …
Relativistic quantum molecular dynamics based on the relativistic mean field theory (RQMD.RMF) is extended by including momentum-dependent potential. The equation of state (EoS) dependence of the directed and the elliptic flow of protons in the beam energy range of $2.3 < \sqrt{s_{NN}}< 20$ GeV is examined. It is found that the directed flow depends strongly on the optical potential at high energies,$\sqrt{s_{NN}} > 3 $ GeV, where no information is available experimentally. The correlation between effective mass at saturation density and the optical potential is found: smaller values of effect…
We estimate the energy density pile-up at mid-rapidity in central Pb+Pb collisions from 2 - 200 GeV/nucleon. The energy density is decomposed into hadronic and partonic contributions. A detailed analysis of the collision dynamics in the framework of a microscopic transport model shows the importance of partonic degrees of freedom and rescattering of leading (di)quarks in the early phase of the reaction for lab-energies > 30 GeV/nucleon. In Pb+Pb collisions at 160 GeV/nucleon the energy density reaches up to 4 GeV/fm^3, 95% of which are contained in partonic degrees of freedom.
Simulated results from a 2+1D relativistic viscous hydrodynamic model have been compared to the experimental data on the centrality dependence of invariant yield, elliptic flow ($v_{2}$), and hexadecapole flow ($v_{4}$) as a function of transverse momentum ($p_{T}$) of charged hadrons in Au-Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm {NN}}}$ = 200 GeV. Results from two types of initial transverse energy density profile, one based on the Glauber model and other based on Color-Glass-Condensate (CGC) are presented. We observe no difference in the simulated results on the invariant yield of charged hadrons for…
A combined analysis of the existing data on the reactions $γp \to p η^\prime $ and $pp \to ppη^\prime $, based on a relativistic meson exchange model of hadronic interactions, is presented.
We calculate excitation functions for open charm mesons in $Au+Au$ reactions from AGS to RHIC energies within the HSD transport approach which is based on string, quark, diquark ($q, \bar{q}, qq, \bar{q}\bar{q}$) and hadronic degrees of freedom. The open charm cross sections from $pN$ and $πN$ reactions are fitted to results from PYTHIA and scaled in magnitude to the available experimental data. From our dynamical calculations we find an approximate $m_T$-scaling for pions, kaons, $D$-mesons and $J/Ψ$ -- when discarding final state elastic scattering of kaons and $ϕ$-mesons with pions -- in ce…
The revised Landau hydrodynamic model is used to discuss the pseudorapidity distributions of the produced charged particles in Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at energies of sqrt(s_NN)= 19.6 and 22.4 GeV correspondingly on the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. It is found that the revised Landau hydrodynamic model alone can give a good description to the experimental measurements. This is different from that in the same collisions but at the maximum energy of sqrt(s_NN)= 200 GeV. Where, in addition to the revised Landau hydrodynamic model, the effects of leading particles have to be taken into a…
The production of low mass dileptons and soft photons from thermalized Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) and hadronic matter in relativistic heavy ion collisions is evaluated. A boost invariant longitudinal and cylindrically symmetric transverse expansion of the systems created in central collision of lead nuclei at CERN SPS, BNL RHIC, and CERN LHC, and undergoing a first order phase transition to hadronic matter is considered. A large production of low mass (M< 0.3 GeV) dileptons, and soft photons (p_T< 0.4 GeV) is seen to emanate from the bremsstrahlung of quarks and pions. We find an increase by a f…
We review the results from the various hydrodynamical and transport models on the collective flow observables from AGS to RHIC energies. A critical discussion of the present status of the CERN experiments on hadron collective flow is given. We emphasize the importance of the flow excitation function from 1 to 50 A$\cdot$GeV: here the hydrodynamic model has predicted the collapse of the $v_1$-flow and of the $v_2$-flow at $\sim 10$ A$\cdot$GeV; at 40 A$\cdot$GeV it has been recently observed by the NA49 collaboration. Since hadronic rescattering models predict much larger flow than observed at …
We evaluate the production of large mass diphotons from quark annihilation at BNL RHIC and CERN LHC energies from central collisions of gold nuclei. The collision is assumed to lead to either a thermally and chemically equilibrated quark gluon plasma, or a free-streaming quark gluon gas having an identical initial entropy, or a chemically equilibrating quark gluon system, with the same entropy at $T=T_c$. We also obtain an estimate of hard photon pairs from initial state quark annihilation and find that the thermal production dominates the yield up to $M \approx$ 4 GeV at RHIC, and up to 6 GeV…
An unfactorized and relativistic framework for calculating A(e,e'p) observables at typical JLAB energies is presented. Results of (e,e'p) model calculations for the target nuclei ^{12}C and ^{16}O are presented and compared to data from SLAC and JLAB.
This article is focused on the multiplicity and probability distribution of the emitted charged pions <N_π> for interaction of ^{84}Kr_{36} projectile with nuclear emulsion targets at kinetic energy 1 GeV per nucleon. In the wounded nucleon model frame work, we have calculated the total number of wounded nucleons (W) and total number of interactions (ν). The obtained results revealed that the average multiplicity of the charged pions <N_π> is dependent on the projectile and target mass. The calculated values of the wounded nucleons (W) and total number of interactions (ν) shows strong dependen…
We have revisited several interesting questions on how the rapidity-odd directed flow is developed in relativistic $^{197}$Au+$^{197}$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 and 39 GeV based on a multiphase transport model. As the partonic phase evolves with time, the slope of the parton directed flow at midrapidity region changes from negative to positive as a result of the later dynamics at 200 GeV, while it remains negative at 39 GeV due to the shorter life time of the partonic phase. The directed flow splitting for various quark species due to their different initial eccentricities is obser…
Particle production in relativistic collisions of heavy nuclei is analyzed in a wide range of incident energies 2.7 GeV $\le \sqrt{s_{NN}}\le$ 62.4 GeV. The analysis is performed within the three-fluid model employing three different equations of state (EoS): a purely hadronic EoS, an EoS with the first-order phase transition and that with a smooth crossover transition. It is found that the hadronic scenario fails to reproduce experimental yields of antibaryons (strange and nonstrange), starting already from lower SPS energies, i.e. $\sqrt{s_{NN}}>$ 5 GeV. Moreover, at energies above the top S…
Global evolution of the matter in relativistic collisions of heavy nuclei and the resulting global freeze-out parameters are analyzed in a wide range of incident energies 2.7 GeV $\le \sqrt{s_{NN}}\le$ 39 GeV. The analysis is performed within the three-fluid model employing three different equations of state (EoS): a purely hadronic EoS, an EoS with the first-order phase transition and that with a smooth crossover transition. Global freeze-out parameters deduced from experimental data within the statistical model are well reproduced within the crossover scenario. The 1st-order-transition scena…
We study soft hadron production in relativistic heavy ion collisions in a wide range of reaction energy, 4.8 GeV <sqrt{s_ NN}<200 GeV, and make predictions about yields of particles using the statistical hadronization model. In fits to experimental data, we obtain both statistical parameters as well as physical properties of the hadron source. We identify the properties of the fireball at the critical energy threshold, 6.26 GeV < sqrt{s_NN}^cr} <7.61 GeV, delineating for higher energies hadronization of an entropy rich phase. In terms of the chemical composition, one sees a phase which at low …
The parton and hadron cascade model PACIAE is used to investigate strange particle production in Au + Au collisions at GeV in different centralities and at 39, 11.5 and 7.7 GeV in the most central collision, respectively. It is shown that the transverse momentum distributions of strange particles by the PACIAE model fit the RHIC Beam Energy Scan experimental results well.
Relativistic quantum molecular dynamics with scalar and vector interactions based on the relativistic mean meson field theory, RQMD.RMF, is developed. It is implemented into the microscopic transport code JAM.The sensitivity of the directed and of the elliptic proton flow in high energy heavy-ion collisions on the stiffness of the RMF equation of state (EoS) is examined. These new calculations are compared to experimental data at mid-central Au + Au collisions in the beam energy range $2.5 < \sqrt{s_{NN}} < 20$ GeV. This new RQMD model with the relativistic mean field scalar and vector meson in…
A new set of equations for relativistic viscous hydrodynamics that captures both weak-coupling and strong-coupling physics to second order in gradients has been developed recently. We apply this framework to bulk physics at RHIC, both for standard (Glauber-type) as well as for Color-Glass-Condensate initial conditions and show that the results do not depend strongly on the values for the second-order transport coefficients. Results for multiplicity, radial flow and elliptic flow are presented and we quote the ratio of viscosity over entropy density for which our hydrodynamic model is consisten…
The dilepton transverse momentum spectra and invariant mass spectra for low $p_T <0.15$~GeV/c in Au+Au collisions of different centralities at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV are studied within the parton-hadron-string dynamics (PHSD) transport approach. The PHSD describes the whole evolution of the system on a microscopic basis, incorporates hadronic and partonic degrees-of-freedom, the dynamical hadronization of partons and hadronic rescattering. For dilepton production in p+p, p+A and A+A reactions the PHSD incorporates the leading hadronic and partonic channels (also for heavy flavors) and inclu…
We describe the remarkable accomplishments of the current heavy ion Pb--Pb collision experiments involving strange particle production, carried out at 158A GeV at CERN--SPS. These experimental results, together with the earlier 200A GeV S-induced reactions, imply that, at central rapidity, a novel mechanism of strangeness production arises, accompanied by excess entropy formation. We argue that: These results are consistent with the formation of a space-time localized, highly excited, dense state of matter; The freeze-out properties of strange hadrons are suggestive of the formation of a color…
The features of magnetic field in relativistic heavy-ion collisions are systematically studied by using a modified magnetic field model in this paper. The features of magnetic field distributions in the central point are studied in the RHIC and LHC energy regions. We also predict the feature of magnetic fields at LHC $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$= 900, 2760 and 7000 GeV based on the detailed study at RHIC $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 62.4, 130 and 200 GeV. The dependencies of the features of magnetic fields on the collision energies, centralities and collision time are systematically investigated, respectively.
It has been shown that a hot and dense deconfined nuclear matter state produced in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions, can be quantitatively described by the String Percolation phenomenological model. The model address the phase transition in terms of the two-dimensional continuum percolation theory over strings, which are schematic representations of the fundamental interactions among the partons of the colliding nuclei in the initial state. In this work, we present an extension of the critical string density results including the eccentricity dependence on the initial state geometry foc…
The statistical event-by-event analysis of inelastic interactions of 16O and 32S nuclei in emulsion at 60 A GeV/c and 200 A GeV/c reveals the existence of groups of high multiplicity events belonging to very central nuclear interactions with Gaussian pseudorapidity distributions for produced particles as suggested by the original hydrodynamic-tube model. Characteristics of these events are presented. The experimental observations are interpreted as a result of quark-gluon plasma formation in the course of central nuclear interactions.
