The physics objectives of SuperB, an asymmetric electron-positron collider with a luminosity above 10^36/cm^2/s are described, together with the conceptual design of a novel low emittance design that achieves this performance with wallplug power comparable to that of the current B Factories, and an upgraded detector capable of doing the physics in the SuperB environment.
The Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) is a large international scientific facility proposed by the Chinese particle physics community to explore the Higgs boson and provide critical tests of the underlying fundamental physics principles of the Standard Model that might reveal new physics. The CEPC, to be hosted in China in a circular underground tunnel of approximately 100 km in circumference, is designed to operate as a Higgs factory producing electron-positron collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 240 GeV. The collider will also operate at around 91.2 GeV, as a Z factory, and a…
The Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) is a large international scientific project initiated and hosted by China. It is located in a 100-km circumference underground tunnel. The accelerator complex consists of a linear accelerator (Linac), a damping ring (DR), the Booster, the Collider and several transport lines. In the tunnel, space is reserved for a future pp collider, SPPC. The CEPC center-of-mass energy is 240 GeV, and at that collision energy will serve as a Higgs factory. The design also allows operation at 91 GeV for a Z factory and at 160 GeV for a W factory. The heart of the …
The worldwide High Energy Physics community widely agrees that the next collider should be a Higgs factory. Acknowledging this priority, in 2021 CERN has launched the international Future Circular Collider (FCC) Feasibility Study (FS). The FCC Integrated Project foresees, in a first stage, a high-luminosity high-energy electron-positron collider, serving as Higgs, top and electroweak factory, and, in a second stage, an energy frontier hadron collider, with a centre-of-mass energy of at least 100 TeV. In this paper, we address a few key elements of the FCC-ee accelerator design, its performance…
In November 2018, the CEPC released the Conceptual Design Report (CDR) with the physics potential investigation and the analysis about different detector concepts. Since then, intensive researches on the Higgs Physics at the CEPC have been progressed. The run at top thresholds are also taken into consideration and the physics potential around the center-of-mass energy of 360GeV is studied. The $ttH$ channel information boost the precision of Higgs width measurement by a factor of 2 with respect to 240 GeV Higgs Runs. Different Higgs decay modes are analyzed in the CEPC Higgs factory at the cen…
The Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) is a large-scale future collider facility that can serve as a factory of the Higgs boson, the W boson and the Z boson. This document provides a brief summary of the CEPC physics potential and the detector design concepts, both of which are laid out in detail in the Conceptual Design Report (CDR) released in November 2018. We also outline future directions and challenges. In the Addendum, we briefly describe the planning and the international organization of the CEPC. The next step for the CEPC team is to perform detailed technical design studies. …
With the LHC about to start its last data-taking period before being upgraded to the High-Luminosity LHC, it is time for the international high energy physics community to define the future of collider particle physics. The European Strategy for Particle Physics highlights an electron-positron Higgs boson factory as the main priority and as a first step towards a very high-energy future hadron collider. A staged Future Circular Collider (FCC), consisting of a luminosity-frontier highest-energy electron-positron collider (FCC-ee) followed by an energy-frontier hadron collider (FCC-hh), promises…
The design of a primary electron beam facility at CERN is described. The study has been carried out within the framework of the wider Physics Beyond Colliders study. It re-enables the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) as an electron accelerator, and leverages the development invested in Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) technology for its injector and as an accelerator research and development infrastructure. The facility would be relevant for several of the key priorities in the 2020 update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, such as an electron-positron Higgs factory, accelerator R\&D, …
