We define a metric operator in the 1/2-BPS sector of the D1-D5 CFT, the eigenstates of which have a good semi-classical supergravity dual; the non-eigenstates cannot be mapped to semi-classical gravity duals. We also analyse how the data defining a CFT state manifests itself in the gravity side, and show that it is arranged into a set of multipoles. Interestingly, we find that quantum mechanical interference in the CFT can have observable manifestations in the semi-classical gravity dual. We also point out that the multipoles associated to the normal statistical ensemble fluctuate wildly, indicating that the mixed thermal state should not be associated to a semi-classical geometry.
Construction of a five dimensional conformal supergravity (D=5 CSG) is attempted by applying the AdS/CFT correspondence to the F(4) AdS supergravity in six dimensions. As a first step, local transformation laws of D=5 CSG have been established, from which the Weyl weights of the various fields in D=5 can be predicted.
This paper presents a detailed discussion of the issue of supergravity perturbations around the flat five dimensional superspace required for manifest superspace formulations of the supergravity side of the AdS_{5}/CFT_{4} Correspondence.
We construct the supergravity solution for fully localized D2/D6 intersection. The near horizon limit of this solution is the supergravity dual of supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in 2+1 dimensions with flavor. We use this solution to formulate mirror symmetry of 2+1 dimensional gauge theories in the language of AdS/CFT correspondence. We also construct the supergravity dual of a non-commutative gauge theory with fundamental matter.
We will study the AdS/CFT correspondence in an intermediate region between the strong form of this correspondence (string theory on AdS being dual to a boundary CFT), and the weak form of this correspondence (supergravity on AdS being dual to a boundary CFT). We will go beyond the supergravity approximation in the AdS by using the fact that strings have an extended structure. We will also calculate the CFT dual to such string corrections in the bulk, and demonstrate that they are consistent with the strong form of the AdS/CFT correspondence. So, even though the conformal dimensions of both the…
Light cone gauge manifestly supersymmetric formulations of type IIB 10-dimensional supergravity in $AdS_5 \times S^5$ background and related boundary conformal field theory representations are developed. A precise correspondence between the bulk fields of IIB supergravity and the boundary operators is established. The formulations are given entirely in terms of light cone scalar superfields, allowing us to treat all component fields on an equal footing.
It is shown that local symmetry transformations of the maximal AdS supergravity in seven-dimensional anti de Sitter space induce those of the N=(2,0) conformal supergravity on the six-dimensional boundary at infinity. Boundary values of the AdS supergravity fields form a supermultiplet of the conformal supergravity.
Biconformal supergravity models provide a new gauging of the superconformal group relevant to the Maldacena conjecture. Using the group quotient method to biconformally gauge SU(2,2|N), we generate a 16-dim superspace. We write the most general even- and odd-parity actions linear in the curvatures, the bosonic sector of which is known to descend to general relativity on a 4-dim manifold.
Vasiliev's higher spin supergravity theory on three dimensional anti-de Sitter space is studied and, in particular, the partition function is computed at one loop level. The dual conformal field theory is proposed to be the N=(2,2) CP^N Kazama-Suzuki model in two dimensions. The proposal is based on symmetry considerations and comparison of the bulk partition function with the conformal field theory. Our findings suggest that the theory is strong-weak self-dual.
We study the near horizon geometry of black ring solutions in five-dimensional U(1)^3 supergravity with three electric dipole charges and one angular momentum. We consider the extremal vanishing horizon (EVH) limit of these solutions and show that the near horizon geometries develop locally AdS_3 throats which at the near-EVH near horizon limit the AdS_3 factor turns to a BTZ black hole. By analysing the first law of thermodynamics for black rings we show that at EVH limit it reduces to the first law of thermodynamics for BTZ black holes. Using the AdS3/CFT2 duality, we propose a dual CFT to d…
The standard formulation of the AdS/CFT correspondence is incomplete since it requires adding to a supergravity action some a priori unknown boundary terms. We suggest a modification of the correspondence principle based on the Hamiltonian formulation of the supergravity action, which does not require any boundary terms. Then all the boundary terms of the standard formulation naturally appear by passing from the Hamiltonian version to the Lagrangian one. As examples the graviton part of the supergravity action on the product of $AdS_{d+1}$ with a compact Einstein manifold $\cal E$ and fermions…
We computed a set of structures which appear in the four-point function of protected operators of dimension two in $\mathcal{N}=4$ Super Yang Mills with $SU(N)$ gauge group, at any order in a large $N$ expansion. They are determined only by leading order CFT data. By focusing on a specific limit, we made connection with the dual supergravity amplitude in flat space, where such structures correspond to iterated $s$-cuts. We made several checks and we conjecture that the same interpretation holds for supergravity amplitudes on $AdS_5 \times S^5$.
We present the complete Kaluza-Klein spectrum resulting from the compactification of IIB supergravity on S^5/Z_3. Knowledge of this spectrum allows us to perform a holographic computation of the difference of central charges c-a of the dual SU(N)^3 quiver gauge theory. We find the numerical value c-a=3/16, in exact agreement with the field theory result.
Anti-de Sitter supergravity models are considered in three dimensions. Precise asymptotic conditions involving a chiral projection are given on the Rarita-Schwinger fields. Together with the known boundary conditions on the bosonic fields, these ensure that the asymptotic symmetry algebra is the superconformal algebra. The classical central charge is computed and found to be equal to the one of pure gravity. It is also indicated that the asymptotic degrees of freedom are described by 2D "induced supergravity" and that the boundary conditions "transmute" the non-vanishing components of the WZW …
Recently a new class of asymptotically AdS ultra-spinning black holes has been constructed with a noncompact horizon of finite area [1], in which the asymptotic rotation is effectively boosted to the speed of light. We employ this technique for four-dimensional $U(1)^4$ and five-dimensional $U(1)^3$ gauged supergravity black holes. The obtained new exact black hole solutions for both cases possess a noncompact horizon; their topologies are a sphere with two punctures. We then demonstrate that the ultra-spinning limit commutes with the extremality condition as well as the near horizon limit for…
We obtain a family of heterotic supergravity backgrounds describing non-Kahler warped conifolds with three-form flux and an Abelian gauge bundle, preserving N=1 supersymmetry in four dimensions. At large distance from the singularity the usual Ricci-flat conifold is recovered. By performing a Z_2 orbifold of the T^{1,1} base, the conifold singularity can be blown-up to a four-cycle, leading to a completely smooth geometry. Remarkably, the throat regions of the solutions, which can be isolated from the asymptotic Ricci-flat geometry using a double-scaling limit, possess a worldsheet CFT descrip…
We have learnt that the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of supersymmetric black holes in five-dimensional minimal supergravity can be reproduced from microstate counting via the AdS/CFT and Kerr/CFT correspondence. In this note, we demostrate the coincidence of both formalisms for extremal and near-extremal black holes in five-dimensional minimal supergravity. Connection to AdS_2 gravity is also mentioned.
We compute the quantum gravity partition function of M-theory on $AdS_4 \times X_7 $ by using localization techniques in four-dimensional gauged supergravity obtained by a consistent truncation on the Sasaki-Einstein manifold $X_{7}$. The supergravity path integral reduces to a finite dimensional integral over two collective coordinates that parametrize the localizing instanton solutions. The renormalized action of the off-shell instanton solutions depends linearly and holomorphically on the "square root" prepotential evaluated at the center of $AdS_{4}$. The partition function resembles the L…
We study the four--point function of chiral primaries corresponding to the dilaton--axion sector in supergravity in the $AdS_5$/CFT$_4$ correspondence. We find relations between some of the supergravity graphs and compute their leading singularities. We discuss the issue of logarithmic singularities and their significance for the OPE structure of the CFT.
This article is based on my PhD thesis and covers the following topics: Holographic meson spectra in a dilaton flow background, the mixed Coulomb-Higgs branch in terms of instantons on D7 branes, and a dual description of heavy-light mesons. Moreover, in a second part the conformal anomaly of four dimensional supersymmetric quantum field theories coupled to classical N=1 supergravity is explored in a superfield formulation. The complete basis for the anomaly and consistency conditions, which arise from cohomological considerations, are given. Possible implications for an extension of Zamolodch…
We give an update on recent results about the matching between CFT operators and KK states in the AdS/CFT correspondence, and add some new comments on the realization of the baryonic symmetries from the supergravity point of view.
We consider a system of D5/D1 branes in the supergravity background AdS_3xS^3xX, where X is T^4 or K3. By investigating the structure of the missing states in the conformal description, we are able to extend the AdS/CFT correspondence to W algebras. As a test of this new formulation the results are compared to Hilbert schemes and more general supergravity backgrounds as deformations by D3-branes or six-dimensional Calabi-Yau manifolds.
F(4) supergravity, the gauge theory of the exceptional six-dimensional Anti-de Sitter superalgebra, is coupled to an arbitrary number of vector multiplets whose scalar components parametrize the quaternionic manifold $SO(4,n)/SO(4)\times SO(n)$. By gauging the compact subgroup $SU(2)_d \otimes \cG$, where SU(2)_d is the diagonal subgroup of $SO(4)\simeq SU(2)_L\otimes SU(2)_R$ (the R-symmetry group of six-dimensional Poincaré supergravity) and $\cG$ is a compact group such that $dim\cG = n$, we compute the scalar potential which, besides the gauge coupling constants, also depends in non trivia…
F(4) supergravity, the gauge theory of the exceptional six-dimensional Anti-de Sitter superalgebra, is coupled to an arbitrary number of vector multiplets whose scalar components parametrize the quaternionic manifold SO(4,n)/SO(4)\times SO(n). By gauging the compact subgroup SU(2)_d \otimes G, where SU(2)_d is the diagonal subgroup of SO(4)= SU(2)_L\otimes SU(2)_R (the R-symmetry group of six-dimensional Poincare' supergravity) and G is a compact group such that dim G = n. The potential admits an AdS background for g=3m, as the pure F(4)-supergravity. The boundary F(4) superconformal fields ar…
We study near-extremal n-point correlation functions of chiral primary operators, in which the maximal scale dimension k is related to the others by k=\sum_i k_i-m with m equal to or smaller than n-3. Through order g^2 in field theory, we show that these correlators are simple sums of terms each of which factors into products of lower-point correlators. Terms which contain only factors of two- and three-point functions are not renormalized, but other terms have non-vanishing order g^2 corrections. We then show that the contributing AdS exchange diagrams neatly match this factored structure. In…
For a classical superconformal gauge theory in a conformal supergravity background, its chiral R-symmetry anomaly, Weyl anomaly and super-Weyl anomaly constitute a supermultiplet. We review how these anomalies arise from the five-dimensional gauged supergravity in terms of the AdS/CFT correspondence at the gravity level. The holographic production of this full superconformal anomaly multiplet provides a support and test to the celebrated AdS/CFT conjecture.
As was shown earlier, one-loop correction in 10d supergravity on AdS_5 x S^5 corresponds to the contributions to the vacuum energy and boundary 4d conformal anomaly which are minus the values for one n=4 Maxwell supermultiplet, thus reproducing the subleading term in their N^2-1 coefficient in the dual SU(N) SYM theory. We perform similar one-loop computations in 11d supergravity on AdS_7 x S^4 and 10d supergravity on AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4. In the AdS_7 case we find that the corrections to the 6d conformal anomaly a-coefficient and the vacuum energy are again minus the ones for one (2,0) tensor mu…
We determine from 11D supergravity the quadratic bulk action for the physical bosonic fields relevant for the computation of correlation functions of normalized chiral operators in D=6, N=(0,2) and D=3, N=8 supersymmetric CFT in the large N limit, as dictated by the AdS/CFT duality conjecture.
We discuss various approaches to extracting the full stress-energy tensor of the conformal field theory from the corresponding supergravity solutions, within the framework of the Maldacena conjecture. This provides a more refined probe of the AdS/CFT correspondence. We apply these techniques in considering the Casimir energy of the conformal field theory on a torus. It seems that either generically the corresponding supergravity solutions are singular (i.e., involve regions of large string-scale curvatures), or that they are largely insensitive to the boundary conditions of the CFT on the toru…
We study the four-point correlator of 1/2-BPS operators of weight 4 in N=4 SYM, which are dual to massive KK modes in AdS_5 supergravity. General field-theoretic arguments lead to a partially non-renormalized form of the amplitude that depends on two a priori independent functions of the conformal cross-ratios. We explicitly compute the amplitude in the large N limit at one loop (order g^2) and in AdS_5 supergravity. Surprisingly, the one-loop result shows that the two functions determining the amplitude coincide while in the supergravity regime they are distinctly different. We discuss the po…
We test the spectrum of string theory on AdS_5 x S^5 derived in hep-th/0305052 against that of single-trace gauge invariant operators in free N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. Masses of string excitations at critical tension are derived by extrapolating plane-wave frequencies at g_{YM}=0 down to finite J. On the SYM side, we present a systematic description of the spectrum of single-trace operators and its reduction to PSU(2,2|4) superconformal primaries via a refined Eratostenes' supersieve. We perform the comparison of the resulting SYM/string spectra of charges and multiplicities order by order …
We give a complete account of the Schrödinger representation approach to the calculation of the Weyl anomaly of ${\cal N}=4$ SYM from the AdS/CFT correspondence. On the AdS side, the $1/N^2$ correction to the leading order result receives contributions from all the fields of Type IIB Supergravity, the contribution of each field being given by a universal formula. The correct matching with the CFT result is thus a highly non-trivial test of the correspondence.
We calculate four-point correlation functions of two weight-2 and two weight-3 1/2-BPS operators in \mathcal{N}=4 SYM in the large N limit in supergravity approximation. By the AdS/CFT conjecture, these operators are dual to AdS supergravity scalar fields s_2 and s_3 with mass m^2 = -4 and m^2 = -3 respectively. This is the first non-trivial four-point function of mixed-weight operators of lowest conformal dimensions. We show that the supergravity-induced four-point function splits into a "free" and a "quantum" part, where the quantum contribution obeys non-trivial constraints coming from the …
We extend the search for supergravity solution duals of non-relativistic $d=3$ CFTs to $d=11$ supergravity. We consider the internal space to be an $S^2$ bundle over a product base: $S^2 \times S^2$ and $S^2 \times T^2$. For purely M-theoretic $S^2 \times S^2$, we find only magnetic fluxes preserving two supersymmetries. $S^2 \times T^2$ is far richer admitting in addition to magnetic fluxes, various non-trivial electric fluxes which break all supersymmetry.
We describe brane configurations that interpolate between the N=6 AdS4xCP3 background of Type IIA supergravity and the N=0 AdS4xCP3 background of massive Type IIA supergravity. Using the T-dual Type IIB configurations we prove that this leads to unequal Chern-Simons levels in the dual gauge theory, and find the precise relation between the parameters of the gauge theory and the RR fluxes of the background. This provides further evidence for the conjecture of Gaiotto and Tomasiello about the CFT dual of the massive Type IIA background.
We discuss spectra of $AdS_3$ supergravities, arising in the near horizon geometry of D1/D5 systems in orbifolds/orientifolds of type IIB theory with 16 supercharges. These include models studied in a recent paper (hep-th/0012118), where the group action involves also a shift along a transversal circle, as well as IIB/$ΩI_4$, which is dual to IIB on $K3$. After appropriate assignements of the orbifold group eigenvalues and degrees to the supergravity single particle spectrum, we compute the supergravity elliptic genus and find agreement, in the expected regime of validity, with the elliptic ge…
Symmetry breaking by perturbations in the AdS/CFT correspondence is discussed. Perturbations of vector fields to the AdS_3 x S^3 solution of the six-dimensional N=(4,4) supergravity are considered. These perturbations are identified as descendents of chiral primary operators of a two-dimensional N=(4,4) CFT with conformal weight (2,2) or (1,1). We examine unbroken symmetries by the perturbations in the CFT side as well as in the supergravity side and find the same result: the N=(4,2) or N=(2,4) Poincare supersymmetry for the (2,2) perturbation and the N=(0,4) or N=(4,0) superconformal symmetry…
We consider graviton scattering in maximal supergravity on Anti-de Sitter space (AdS) in $d+1$ dimensions for $d=3,4,\text{and $6$}$ with no extra compact spacetime factor. Holography suggests that this theory is dual to an exotic maximally supersymmetric conformal field theory (CFT) in $d$ dimensions whose only light single trace operator is the stress tensor. This contrasts with more standard cases like Type IIB string theory on $AdS_5\times S^5$ dual to $\mathcal{N}=4$ Super-Yang-Mills, where the CFT has light single trace operators for each Kaluza-Klein mode on $S^5$. We compute the 1-loop…
We revisit the construction in four-dimensional gauged $Spin(4)$ supergravity of the holographic duals to topologically twisted three-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=4$ field theories. Our focus in this paper is to highlight some subtleties related to preserving supersymmetry in AdS/CFT, namely the inclusion of finite counterterms and the necessity of a Legendre transformation to find the dual to the field theory generating functional. Studying the geometry of these supergravity solutions, we conclude that the gravitational free energy is indeed independent from the metric of the boundary, and it van…
We develop the spacetime aspects of the computation of partition functions for string/M-theory on AdS(3) xM. Subleading corrections to the semi-classical result are included systematically, laying the groundwork for comparison with CFT partition functions via the AdS(3)/CFT(2) correspondence. This leads to a better understanding of the "Farey tail" expansion of Dijkgraaf et. al. from the point of view of bulk physics. Besides clarifying various issues, we also extend the analysis to the N=2 setting with higher derivative effects included.
According to one of Maldacena's dualities, type IIB string theory on AdS_3 X S^3 X K3 is equivalent to a certain N=(4,4) superconformal field theory. In this note we compute the elliptic genus of the boundary theory in the supergravity approximation. A finite quantity is obtained once we introduce a particular exclusion principle. In the regime where the supergravity approximation is reliable, we find exact agreement with the elliptic genus of a sigma model with target space K3^N/S_N.
Trace anomaly for dilaton coupled conformal theories on curved background with non-zero dilaton is found from supergravity side as an IR effect using AdS/CFT correspondence. For $d=2$ it coincides with the conformal anomaly for dilaton coupled scalar (up to total derivative term which is known to be ambiguous). In four-dimensional case we get conformal anomaly for ${\cal N}=4$ super YM theory interacting with conformal supergravity. In the same way the calculation of dilaton dependent conformal anomaly in higher dimensions seems to be much easier than using standard QFT methods.
We report our recent results concerning d5 gauged supergravity (dilatonic gravity) considered on AdS background. The finite action on such background as well as d4 holographic conformal anomaly (via AdS/CFT correspondence) are found. In such formalism the bulk potential is kept to be arbitrary, dilaton dependent function. Holographic RG in such theory is briefly discussed. d5 AdS brane-world Universe induced by quantum effects of brane CFT is constructed. Such brane is spherical, hyperbolic or flat one. Hence, the possibility of quantum creation of inflationary brane-world Universe is shown.
We investigate Matrix theory in the large-N limit following the conjectured correspondence between Matrix theory and supergravity on the near-horizon limit of the D0-brane background. We analyze the complete fermionic spectrum of supergravity and obtain two-point functions of the supercurrents in Matrix theory. By examining the large-N scaling properties of the correlators, we discuss the consistency of the 11-dimensional interpretation of the supersymmetry of Matrix theory.
The non-renormalization of the 3-point functions $tr X^{k_1} tr X^{k_2} tr X^{k_3}$ of chiral primary operators in N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory is one of the most striking facts to emerge from the AdS/CFT correspondence. A two-fold puzzle appears in the extremal case, e.g. k_1 = k_2 + k_3. First, the supergravity calculation involves analytic continuation in the k_i variables to define the product of a vanishing bulk coupling and an infinite integral over AdS. Second, extremal correlators are uniquely sensitive to mixing of the single-trace operators $tr X^k$ with protected multi-trace operator…
The recent developments towards the possible non-perturbative formulation of string/M theory using supersymmetric Yang-Mills matrix models (SYMs) are discussed. In the first part, we give a critical review on the status of our present understanding, focusing on the connection of the D0-brane matrix models to supergravity and its relevance to the so-called Matrix-theory conjecture. We also discuss some problems concerning the conjectured relation between supergravity in AdS background and SYM from the viewpoint of D-brane interactions. We present a qualitative argument showing how the boundary …
We use the Atiyah-Singer index theorem to derive the general form of the one-loop corrections to observables in asymptotically anti-de Sitter (AdS$_4$) supersymmetric backgrounds of abelian gauged supergravity. Using the method of supergravity localization combined with the factorization of the supergravity action on fixed points (NUTs) and fixed two-manifolds (Bolts) we show that an analogous factorization takes place for the one-loop determinants of supergravity fields. This allows us to propose a general fixed-point formula for the logarithmic corrections to a large class of supersymmetric …
We study the global geometry of a general class of spacetimes of relevance to the supersymmetric $AdS_3/CFT_2$ correspondence in eleven-dimensional supergravity. Specifically, we study spacetimes admitting a globally-defined $\mathbb{R}^{1,1}$ frame, a globally-defined frame bundle with structure group contained in Spin(7), and an $AdS_3$ event horizon or conformal boundary. We show how the global frame bundle may be canonically realised by globally-defined null sections of the spin bundle, which we use to truncate eleven-dimensional supergravity to a gravitational theory of a frame with struc…
Superstrata are smooth horizonless microstate geometries for the supersymmetric D1-D5-P black hole in type IIB supergravity. In the CFT, 'superstratum states' are defined to be the component of the supergraviton gas that is obtained by breaking the CFT into '$|00\rangle$-strands' and acting on each strand with the 'small,' anomaly-free superconformal generators. We show that the recently-constructed supercharged superstrata represent a final and crucial component for the construction of the supergravity dual of a generic superstratum state and how the supergravity solution faithfully represent…
The asymptotic symmetry algebra of $\mathcal{N}=1$ supergravity was recently constructed using the well-known $2$D celestial CFT (CCFT) technique in ArXiv: 2007.03785. In this paper, we extend the construction to the maximally supersymmetric four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=8$ supergravity theory in asymptotically flat spacetime and construct the extended asymptotic symmetry algebra, which we call $\mathcal{N}=8$ $\mathfrak{sbms}_4$. We use the celestial CFT technique to find the appropriate currents for extensions of $\mathcal{N}=8$ super-Poincaré and $\mathrm{SU}(8)_R$ R-symmetry current algebr…
We study the non-commutative supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory at strong coupling using the AdS/CFT correspondence. The supergravity description and the UV/IR relation confirms the expectation that the non-commutativity affects the ultra-violet but not the infra-red of the Yang-Mills dynamics. We show that the supergravity solution dual to the non-commutative N=4 SYM in four dimensions has no boundary and defines a minimal scale. We also show that the relation between the B field and the scale of non-commutativity is corrected at large coupling and determine its dependence on the 't Hooft coupl…
The AdS/CFT duality maps supersymmetric heavy operators with conformal dimension of the order of the central charge to asymptotically AdS supergravity solutions. We show that by studying the quadratic fluctuations around such backgrounds it is possible to derive the 4-point correlators of two light and two heavy states in the supergravity approximation. We provide an explicit example in the AdS$_3$ setup relevant for the duality with the D1-D5 CFT. Contrary to previously studied examples, the supergravity correlator derived in this work differs from the result obtained at the CFT orbifold poin…
We construct the non-relativistic counterparts of some well-known supergravity solutions dual to relevant and marginal deformations of N=4 super Yang-Mills. The main tool we use is the null Melvin twist and we apply it to the N=1 and N=2* Pilch-Warner RG flow solutions as well as the Lunin-Maldacena solution dual to beta-deformations of N=4 super Yang-Mills. We also obtain a family of supergravity solutions with Schrodinger symmetry interpolating between the non-relativistic version of the N=1 Pilch-Warner and Klebanov-Witten fixed points. A generic feature of these non-relativistic background…
We carry out field redefinitions in ten-dimensional Type IIB supergravity and show that they do not give rise to any physical corrections to the holographic renormalization group structure in the AdS/CFT correspondence. We in particular show that the holographic Weyl anomaly of the N=4 SU(N) super Yang-Mills theory does not change under the field redefinition of the ten-dimensional metric of the form G_{MN} -> G_{MN}+αR G_{MN}+βR_{MN}. These results are consistent with the fact that classical supergravity represents the on-shell structure of massless modes of superstrings, which should not cha…
A survey of ideas, techniques and results from d=5 supergravity for the conformal and mass-perturbed phases of d=4 ${\cal N}$=4 Super-Yang-Mills theory
We give full details for the computation of the Kaluza--Klein mass spectrum of Type IIB Supergravity on AdS_5 x T^{11}, with T^{11}=SU(2)xSU(2)/U(1), that has recently lead to both stringent tests and interesting predictions on the AdS_5/CFT_4 correspondence for N=1 SCFT's (hep-th/9905226). We exhaustively explain how KK states arrange into SU(2,2|1) supermultiplets, and stress some relevant features of the T^{11} manifold, such as the presence of topological modes in the spectrum originating from the existence of non-trivial 3-cycles. The corresponding Betti vector multiplet is responsible fo…
We continue the studies of our earlier proposal for an AdS/CFT correspondence for time-dependent supergravity backgrounds. We note that by performing a suitable change of variables, the dual super Yang-Mills theory lives on a flat base space, and the time-dependence of the supergravity background is entirely encoded in the time-dependent couplings (gauge and axionic) and their supersymmetric completion. This form of the SYM allows a detailed perturbative analysis to be performed. In particular the one-loop Wilsonian effective action of the boundary SYM theory is computed. By using the holograp…
We explore four-dimensional Einstein-Weyl gravity and supergravity on anti-de Sitter spacetime. For a specific range of the coupling with appropriate boundary conditions, we show the effective equivalence of the theory with Einstein gravity and AdS supergravity at the quadratic Lagrangian level. Furthermore we show that these equivalences can be promoted to the full nonlinear level. We also show that the similar behavior holds for the generalized Gibbons-Hawking terms. From this we find that the correlation functions in the dual conformal field theory of Einstein-Weyl gravity and supergravity …
Four point functions of general N=4 1/2-BPS primary fields, satisfying the next-next-to-extremality condition Δ_{1}+Δ_{2}+Δ_{3}-Δ_{4}=4 are studied at large N and strong coupling. We apply new techniques to evaluate the effective couplings in supergravity, and confirm that the four derivative couplings arising in the five-dimensional supergravity vanish on-shell. We then show that the four point amplitude resulting from supergravity naturally splits into a "free" and an interactive part which resembles an effective quartic interaction. The precise structure agrees with superconformal symmetry …
