The dissipative quantum system is studied using the Thirring model with a boundary mass. At the critical point where the Thirring coupling vanishes, the theory reduces to a free fermion theory with a boundary mass. We construct boundary states for the dissipative quantum systems in one dimension, which describes the system off the critical points as well as at the critical points.

We study the rolling tachyon and the dissipative quantum mechanics using the Thirring model with a boundary mass. But the quantum descriptions of the dissipative systems have well known ambiguities. We suggest some approach to solve the problems of this description. The generalized Poisson algebra for dissipative systems is considered.
Following the approach of Callan and Thorlacius applied to the superstring, we derive a supersymmetric extension of the non-local dissipative action of Caldeira and Leggett. The dissipative term turns out to be invariant under a group of superconformal transformations. When added to the usual kinetic term, it provides an example of supersymmetric dissipative quantum mechanics. As a by-product of our analysis, an intriguing connection to the homeotic/hybrid fermion model, proposed for CPT violation in neutrinos, appears.

We show how the recently proposed CFT for a bilayer Quantum Hall system at filling nu=m/pm+2, the Twisted Model (TM), is equivalent to the system of two massless scalar bosons with a magnetic boundary interaction as introduced in Nucl. Unitarity demands that the black-hole final state (what remains inside the event horizon at complete evaporation) must be unique. Assuming a UV theory with infinitely many fields, we propose that the uniqueness of the final state can be achieved via a mechanism analogous to the quantum-mechanical description of dissipation.

We extend the framework of Nambu-Hamiltonian Mechanics to include dissipation in $R^{3}$ phase space. We demonstrate that it accommodates the phase space dynamics of low dimensional dissipative systems such as the much studied Lorenz and Rössler Strange attractors, as well as the more recent constructions of Chen and Leipnik-Newton. Following the Nambu mechanics framework we demonstrate that the non-dissipative part of the Lorenz system can be generated by the intersection of two quadratic surfaces that form a doublet under the group SL(2,R). All manifolds are classified into four dinstict classes; parabolic, elliptical, cylindrical and hyperbolic. We study the phase diagram of this system (in the magnetic field/dissipation constant plane) and find a fractal structure which, in the limit of zero dissipation, matches the fractal energy level structure of the pure quantum mechanical version of this problem (Hofstadter model).

Here I discuss a concrete two dimensional case, the Thirring model, which illustrates several important concepts of this theory: the anomalous dimension of the fields; the exact solvability; the anomalies of the Ward-Takahashi identities. The Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equation describes the dynamics of a damped magnetization vector that can be understood as a generalization of Larmor spin precession.
