SUSY: New Perspectives and Variants

Although supersymmetry (SUSY) is thirty five years old, it is still one of the most attractive theories for physics beyond the standard model. Assuming that SUSY will be discovered at the LHC, the key question is: What SUSY model do we expect to be the correct one ? After reviewing briefly the advantages and problems of SUSY, several interesting models that have been proposed in the literature will be discussed. In particular, models such as the MSSM, BRpV, NMSSM, and possible extensions. We will also introduce the $μ\nuSSM$ whose interest resides in the fact that it generates a solution to the (famous) $μ$ problem of SUSY models that is connected to the (nowadays very popular) neutrino physics.

SUSY Variants of the Electroweak Phase Transition

The MSSM with a light right-handed stop and supersymmetric models with a singlet whose vev is comparable to that of the SU(2)_W Higgs allow for a strongly first-order electroweak phase transition even for a mass of the lightest Higgs around 100 GeV. Muon g-2 in Focus Point SUSY

We point out that the anomaly of the muon $g-2$ can be easily explained in a focus point supersymmetry scenario, which realizes the semi-natural supersymmetry. Among known focus point supersymmetry scenarios, we find that a model based on Higgs-gaugino mediation works with a mild fine-tuning $Δ=40$-$80$. We propose two new focus point supersymmetry scenarios where the anomaly of the muon $g-2$ is also explained. These scenarios are variants of the widely known focus point supersymmetry based on gravity mediation with universal scalar masses.

Precision SUSY Physics

We review the theoretical status and the future perspectives of the most important electroweak precision observables in the MSSM. This comprises the mass of the W boson, M_W, the effective leptonic mixing angle, sin^2(theta_eff), the mass of the lightest MSSM Higgs boson, m_h, and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, a_μ. The impact of the parametric uncertainties from the experimental errors of the input parameters is studied, and an estimate for the remaining uncertainties from unknown higher-order corrections is given. SUSY, Inflation and the Origin of Matter in the Universe

We consider the Standard Models of particle physics and hot big bang cosmology, and review the theoretical and experimental motivations for extending these models to include supersymmetry and inflation. An obvious extension would be to unite these two models into a single all-encompassing theory. We identify a list of theoretical challenges that such a theory must address, which we illustrate with a simple model - a variant of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric Standard Model - that addresses these challenges.

Dark matter from dynamical SUSY breaking

We consider explicit models of dynamical supersymmetry breaking where dark matter is a 10 -- 100 TeV strongly-interacting composite state carrying no standard model quantum numbers. These constructions are simple variants of well-known supersymmetry breaking mechanisms, augmented to allow for a large "flavor" symmetry. Dark matter is the lightest composite modulus charged under this symmetry and is a viable cold dark matter candidate with a thermal relic abundance. A natural renormalizable model of metastable SUSY breaking

We propose a model of metastable dynamical supersymmetry breaking in which all scales are generated dynamically. Our construction is a simple variant of the Intriligator-Seiberg-Shih model, with quark masses induced by renormalizable couplings to an auxiliary supersymmetric QCD sector. Since all scales arise from dimensional transmutation, the model has no fundamental dimensionful parameters. It also does not rely on higher-dimensional operators.

Natural Scherk-Schwarz Theories of the Weak Scale

Natural supersymmetric theories of the weak scale are under growing pressure given present LHC constraints, raising the question of whether untuned supersymmetric (SUSY) solutions to the hierarchy problem are possible. In this paper, we explore a class of 5-dimensional natural SUSY theories in which SUSY is broken by the Scherk-Schwarz mechanism. Waiting for mu->eg from the MEG experiment

The Standard Model (SM) predictions for the lepton flavor-violating (LFV) processes like mu->eg are well far from any realistic experimental resolution, thus, the appearance of m->eg at the running MEG experiment would unambiguously point towards a New Physics (NP) signal. Rare Flavor Processes in Maximally Natural Supersymmetry

We study CP-conserving rare flavor violating processes in the recently proposed theory of Maximally Natural Supersymmetry (MNSUSY). MNSUSY is an unusual supersymmetric (SUSY) extension of the Standard Model (SM) which, remarkably, is un-tuned at present LHC limits. Rare K decays: Challenges and Perspectives

At this stage of the LHC program, the prospect for a new physics signal in the very rare K ---> pi nu nu bar decays may be dented, but remains well alive thanks to their intrinsic qualities. Midi-review: Status of weak scale supersymmetry after LHC Run 2 and ton-scale noble liquid WIMP searches

While LHC has discovered a very Standard Model-like Higgs boson of mass m_h~ 125 GeV, no solid signal for physics beyond the Standard Model has emerged so far at LHC or at WIMP seach experiments. For the case of weak scale supersymmetry (SUSY), LHC has found rather generally that gluinos are beyond about 2.2 TeV whilst top squark must lie beyond 1.1 TeV. Why LHC?

I discuss LHC physics in the historical perspective of the progress in particle physics. After a recap of the Standard Model of particle physics, I discuss the high energy colliders leading up to LHC and their role in the discovery of these SM particles. Then I discuss the two main physics issues of LHC, i.e. Higgs mechanism and Supersymmetry. I briefly touch upon Higgs and SUSY searches at LHC along with their cosmological implications.

This work summarizes and puts in an overall perspective studies done within CMS concerning the discovery potential for squarks and gluinos, sleptons, charginos and neutralinos, SUSY dark matter, lightest Higgs, sparticle mass determination methods and the detector design optimisation in view of SUSY searches. D-brane Standard Model variants and Split Supersymmetry: Unification and fermion mass predictions

We study D-brane inspired models with U(3) x U(2) x U(1)^N gauge symmetry in the context of split supersymmetry. We consider configurations with one, two and three (N=1,2,3) abelian branes and derive all hypercharge embeddings which imply a realistic particle content. F-theory, GUTs, and the Weak Scale

In this paper we study a deformation of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking in a class of local F-theory GUT models where the scale of supersymmetry breaking determines the value of the mu term. Geometrically correlating these two scales constrains the soft SUSY breaking parameters of the MSSM. In this scenario, the hidden SUSY breaking sector involves an anomalous U(1) Peccei-Quinn symmetry which forbids bare mu and B mu terms.
