The decays eta, eta-prime --> pi+ pi- l+ l- (with l = e, mu) are investigated within a chiral unitary approach which combines the chiral effective Lagrangian with a coupled-channels Bethe-Salpeter equation. Predictions for the decay widths and spectra are given.
The self-energy of an eta in a nuclear medium is calculated in a chiral unitary model, and applied to eta states in nuclei. Our calculation predicts an attractive eta nucleus optical potential which can accommodate many eta bound states in different nuclei.
The dominant decay mode of the eta-prime, eta-prime -> eta pi pi, is investigated within the framework of infrared regularized U(3) chiral perturbation theory up to fourth chiral order and including one-loop corrections. We find reasonable agreement with experimental data and observe convergence of the chiral series.
The hadronic decays eta -> pi pi pi, eta-prime -> pi pi pi and eta-prime -> eta pi pi are investigated within a U(3) chiral unitary approach. Final state interactions are included by deriving the effective s-wave potentials for meson meson scattering from the chiral effective Lagrangian and iterating them in a Bethe-Salpeter equation. With only a small set of parameters we are able to explain both rates and spectral shapes of these decays.
The hadronic decays eta, eta-prime -> 3 pi and eta-prime -> eta pi pi are investigated within the framework of U(3) chiral effective field theory in combination with a relativistic coupled-channels approach. Final state interactions are included by deriving s- and p-wave interaction kernels for meson-meson scattering from the chiral effective Lagrangian and iterating them in a Bethe-Salpeter equation. Very good overall agreement with currently available data on decay widths and spectral shapes is achieved.

Final state interactions are included by deriving s- and p-wave interaction kernels for meson-meson scattering from the chiral effective Lagrangian and iterating them in a Bethe-Salpeter equation. Photo- and electroproduction of eta, eta-prime mesons on protons are investigated within a relativistic chiral unitary approach based on coupled channels. The s wave potentials for electroproduction and meson-baryon scattering are derived from a chiral effective Lagrangian which includes the eta-prime as an explicit degree of freedom and incorporates important features of the underlying QCD Lagrangian such as the axial U(1) anomaly. The effective potentials are iterated in a Bethe-Salpeter equation and cross sections for eta, eta-prime photo- and electroproduction from protons are obtained. Th…

We investigate the decays of pi^0, eta and eta-prime into two photons in an effective U(3) chiral Lagrangian approach without employing large N_c arguments. Tree level and one-loop contributions from the anomalous Wess-Zumino-Witten Lagrangian are calculated and the importance of eta--eta-prime mixing is discussed. Unitarity corrections beyond one-loop play an important role for the decays with off-shell photons and are included by employing a coupled channel Bethe-Salpeter equation which satisfies unitarity constraints and generates vector-mesons from composed states of two pseudoscalar meson…
We investigate the decays eta, eta-prime --> pi^+ pi^- gamma up to next-to-leading order in the framework of the combined 1/N_c and chiral expansions. Counter terms of unnatural parity at next-to-leading order with unknown couplings are important to acommodate the results both to the experimental decay width and the photon spectrum. The presence of these coefficients does not allow for a determination of the number of colors from these decays.
The importance of Born terms and resonance exchange for eta and eta-prime photoproduction off both the proton and neutron within U(3) baryon chiral perturbation theory is investigated. Low-lying resonances such as the vector mesons and J^P= 1/2^+, 1/2^- baryon resonances are included explicitly and their contributions together with the Born terms are calculated. The coupling constants of the resonances are determined from strong and radiative decays. We obtain reasonable agreement with experimental data near threshold.
The self-energy of an eta meson in the nuclear medium is calculated in a chiral unitary approach. A coupled channel Bethe-Salpeter equation is solved to obtain the effective eta-N interaction in the medium. The base model reproduces well the free space pi-N elastic and inelastic scattering at the eta-N threshold or N^*(1535) region. The Pauli blocking on the nucleons, binding potentials for the baryons and self-energies of the mesons are incorporated, including the eta self-energy in a self-consistent way. Our calculation predicts about -54 -i29 MeV for the optical potential at normal nuclear …
The decays pi^0, eta, eta-prime -> gamma gamma are investigated up to next-to-next-to-leading order in the framework of the combined 1/N_c and chiral expansions. Without mixing of the pseudoscalar mesons the N_c independence of the pi^0 and eta decay amplitudes is shown to persist at the one-loop level, although the contribution of the Wess-Zumino-Witten term to the pertinent vertices is not canceled by the N_c dependent part of a Goldstone-Wilczek term. The decay amplitude of the singlet field, on the other hand, depends strongly on N_c and yields under the inclusion of mixing also a strong N…
We consider the chiral Lagrangian with a nonet of Goldstone bosons and a nonet of light vector mesons. The mixing between the pseudoscalar mesons eta and eta-prime is taken into account. A novel counting scheme is suggested that is based on hadrogenesis, which conjectures a mass gap in the meson spectrum of QCD in the limit of a large number of colors. Such a mass gap would justify to consider the vector mesons and the eta-prime meson as light degrees of freedom. The complete leading order Lagrangian is constructed and discussed. As a first application it is tested against electromagnetic tran…
In an effective theory containing only quark degrees of freedom, such as the extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model, the influence of the axial anomaly can be incorporated by a self-interaction of the 't Hooft determinant type. I will show that despite the theshold problem related to the eta-prime meson this leads to a significant suppression of the eta-prime coupling g_{η' q \bar{q}} to dynamical quarks which suggests a suppression of the eta-prime-NN vertex as compared to the eta-NN vertex.
It is pointed out that the decay of the recently observed charmonium eta_c^prime resonance, eta_c^prime -> eta_c pi pi is simply related to the well studied decay psi^prime -> J/psi pi pi and can thus be used for absolute normalization of other decay modes of the eta_c^prime. The total rate of the discussed decay should be approximately three to four times the corresponding rate for the psi^prime$ resonance making the channel with charged pions the most probable exclusive decay mode of the eta_c^prime with the branching ratio in the range 5-10 %.
The decays eta, eta-prime -> pi^+ pi^- gamma are investigated within an approach that combines one-loop chiral perturbation theory with a coupled channel Bethe-Salpeter equation which satisfies unitarity constraints and generates vector mesons dynamically from composite states of two pseudoscalar mesons. It is furthermore shown that the inclusion of the eta-prime as a dynamical degree of freedom does not renormalize the Wess-Zumino-Witten term.
Investigations of the mass and decays of the exotic hybrid are reviewed, including calculation of the pion1 to eta pion, eta-prime pion decay widths within the QCD sum rules technique. In this calculation, the recently-proposed eta, eta-prime quark mixing scheme is employed. The results indicate that the decay width Gamma(pion1 to eta pion) around 250 MeV is large compared with the decay width Gamma(pion1 to eta-prime pion) around 20 MeV. Inspired by these results, some phenomenological approaches are suggested to gain an understanding of the underlying mechanism of eta pion and eta-prime pion…
We calculate theoretically the formation spectra of eta'(958)-nucleus systems in the (p,d) reaction for the investigation of the in-medium modification of the eta' mass. We show the comprehensive numerical calculations based on a simple form of the eta' optical potential in nuclei with various potential depths. We conclude that one finds an evidence of possible attractive interaction between eta' and nucleus as peak structure appearing around the eta' threshold in light nuclei such as 11C when the attractive potential is stronger than 100 MeV and the absorption width is of order of 40 MeV or l…
The production of pseudo scalar, Eeta, Eta-prime, and vector, Omega, Rho, Phi, mesons in NN collisions at threshold-near energies is analyzed within a covariant effective meson-nucleon theory. It is shown that a good description of cross sections and angular distributions, for vector meson production, can be accomplished by considering meson and nucleon currents only, while for pseudo scalar production an inclusion of nucleon resonances is needed. The di-electron production from subsequent Dalitz decay of the produced mesons, $η'\to γγ^* \toγe^+e^-$ and $ω\to πγ^*\to πe^+e^-$ is also considere…
Axial U(1) dynamics are characterised by large OZI violations. Here we review the phenomenology of eta and eta-prime production and decay processes, and its connection to the anomalous glue that generates a large part of the masses of these pseudoscalar mesons.
We review the theory and phenomenology of the axial U(1) problem with emphasis on the role of gluonic degrees of freedom in eta and eta' production processes, especially the low-energy pN -> pN eta and pN -> pN eta' reactions.
We discuss the impact of recent progress in semileptonic D decays on light flavour spectroscopy and estimate mixing parameters in the eta-eta^prime system.
Starting from a recent model of the eta'N interaction, we evaluate the eta'-nucleus optical potential, including the contribution of lowest order in density, t rho/2m_eta', together with the second order terms accounting for eta' absorption by two nucleons. We also calculate the formation cross section of the eta' bound states from (pi+,p) reactions on nuclei. The eta'-nucleus potential suffers from uncertainties tied to the poorly known eta'N interaction, which can be partially constrained by the experimental modulus of the eta'N scattering length and/or the recently measured transparency rat…
The light-mass exotics with J^{PC}=1^{-+} observed at BNL and CERN may have a simple explanation as dynamically generated resonances in eta-prime pi rescattering in the final state interaction. This dynamics is mediated by the same anomalous glue which also generates the large mass of the eta-prime. OZI violating processes are also potentially important to eta-prime production in proton-proton collisions close to threshold.
This talk describes the reasons why $η$ and $η^\prime$ decays are an interesting topic of study for both theory and experiment. The main part discusses the results of the recent calculation of $η\to3π$ at two-loop order in ChPT. Some puzzling aspects of the results compared to earlier dispersive calculations are highlighted. I also like to remind the reader of the use of $η$ and $η^\prime$ decays for studying the anomaly.
Using the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model, we investigate whether $ω, η, η'$ and $D^-$ mesons form meson-nucleus bound states. Our results suggest that one should expect to find $η$- and $ω$-nucleus bound states in all the nuclei considered. Furthermore, it is shown that the $D^-$ meson will form quite narrow bound states with $^{208}$Pb.
We discuss the in-medium mass of the eta-prime meson under partial restoration of chiral symmetry. The chiral SU(3)\otimes SU(3) symmetry tells us the flavor singlet pseudoscalar meson eta-prime should degenerate with the octet $η$ meson in the SU(3) flavor limit, when chiral symmetry is restored in spite of U(1)A anomaly in the flavor single axial current. The suppression of the anomaly effect induces an order of 100 MeV reduction for the eta-prime mass at the saturation density without introducing a large absorption width. We show the formation spectrum of the eta-prime mesonic bound state i…
We present results of investigations aiming to determine the hadronic interaction of eta and eta-prime mesons with nucleons. Inferences are based on comparisons of both the differential cross sections and the close-to-threshold excitation functions for the p p --> p p eta and p p --> p p eta-prime reactions with predictions based on the assumption that the kinematically available phase space is homogeneously populated. We discuss the phenomenology of the initial and final state interaction, relevance of the hadronic and quark-gluon degrees of freedom for the reaction dynamics, and explain in d…
We study semileptonic decays B -> eta^(\prime) l nu, taking into account the flavor-singlet contribution (F^{singlet}_+) to the B -> eta^(\prime) form factors, which arises from the two-gluon emission in a decaying B meson. It has been recently pointed out that, in addition to large weak annihilation effects, the unknown value of F^{singlet}_+ prevents accurate theoretical estimates in the analysis of B -> eta^\prime K decays in QCD factorization. We present a certain method to determine F^{singlet}_+ with a reasonable accuracy, using B -> eta^(\prime) l nu and B -> pi l nu decays. We also inv…
A reggeized model for ηand η' photoproduction on the nucleon is presented. In this model, t-channel vector meson exchanges are described in terms of Regge trajectories to comply with the correct high energy behavior. We compare this reggeized model with an isobar model (η-MAID), where the t-channel exchanges are described by ρand ωpoles. Both models contain the same resonance contributions, and describe current γp \to ηp data up to E_γ^{lab} = 2 GeV quite well, but only the reggeized model can be successfully extended to higher energies. For the γp \to η' p reaction, the reggeized model is fou…
We analyse photoproduction of eta mesons off the proton in a gauge-invariant chiral unitary framework. The interaction kernel for meson-baryon scattering is derived from the leading order chiral effective Lagrangian and iterated in a Bethe-Salpeter equation. The recent precise threshold data from the Crystal Ball at MAMI can be described rather well and the complex pole corresponding to the S11(1535) is extracted. An extension of the kernel is also discussed.
It has been realized for a long time that knowing the eta and eta^prime wave functions in terms of quark and gluon components probes our understanding of non-perturbative QCD dynamics. Great effort has been given to this challenge -- yet no clear picture has emerged even with the most recent KLOE data. We point out which measurements would be most helpful in arriving at a more definite conclusion. A better knowledge of these wave functions will significantly help to disentangle the weight of different decay subprocesses in semi-leptonic decays of D+, Ds^+ and B+ mesons. The resulting insights …
Coupling constants of $η$ and $η^{\prime}$ mesons with nucleons have been calculated using the method of QCD sum rules. Starting from vacuum-to-meson correlation function of interpolating fields of two nucleons, its matrix element with respect to nucleon spinors has been considered. Coupling constants at the physical points have been estimated from extrapolation of results obtained at two other points. Anomalous glue has been found to give substantial contribution to the coupling constants and also accounts for a significant OZI-rule violation.
We have developed a phenomenological approach which describes very well the pi0, eta and eta-prime meson production in the two-photon interactions. The simultaneous description of the pi0, eta and eta-prime meson two-photon form factors is consistent with data in the space-like region. The obtained form factors are implemented in the event generator EKHARA and the simulated cross sections are presented. Uncertainties in the measured form factors coming from the model dependence in Monte Carlo simulations are studied. The model predictions for the form factor slopes at the origin are given and …
We examine eta prime photoproduction, as a novel tool to study baryon resonances around 2 GeV, of particular interest to the quark shell model, which predicts a number of them. We find important roles of the form factors at the strong vertices, and show that the N^*(2080) can be probed efficiently by this reaction.
To accomodate recent RHIC data on eta prime multiplicity, we propose a minimal modification of the Witten-Veneziano relation at high temperature. This renders a significant drop of eta prime mass at high temperature signaling a restoration of the U(1)A, and the Goldstone character of etaprime.
The $η$-$η^\prime$ pseudoscalar mixing angle and the gluonium content of the $η^\prime$ meson are deduced from an updated phenomenological analysis of $V\to Pγ$ and $J/ψ\to VP$ decays. In absence of gluonium, the value of the mixing angle in the quark-flavour basis is found to be $ϕ_P=(41.5\pm 1.2)^\circ$ from $V\to Pγ$ and $ϕ_P=(40.5\pm 2.4)^\circ$ from $J/ψ\to VP$. In presence of gluonium, the values for the mixing angle and the gluonic content of the $η^\prime$ wave function are $ϕ_P=(41.4\pm 1.3)^\circ$ and $Z^2_{η^\prime}=0.04\pm 0.09$ from $V\to Pγ$ and $ϕ_P=(44.5\pm 4.3)^\circ$ and $Z^2…
The quark-mass dependence of the eta in the Schwinger model, which -- like the eta-prime in QCD -- becomes massive through the axial anomaly, is studied on the lattice with N_f=0,1,2. Staggered quarks are used, with a rooted determinant for N_f=1. In the chiral limit the Schwinger mass is reproduced, which suggests that the anomaly is being treated correctly.
U_A(1) symmetry breaking is studied by introducing the flavor mixing interaction proposed by Kobayashi, Maskawa and 't Hooft. Combining the one gluon exchange interaction, the rainbow like Schwinger-Dyson equation and the ladder like Bethe-Salpeter equation are derived. The anomalous PCAC relation in the framework of this approximation is considered. The masses of the pseudoscalar mesons pi,eta and eta' are calculated. It is found that the pion mass is not sensitive to the strength of the flavor mixing interaction. On the other hand, the masses of eta and eta' are reproduced by a relatively we…
In the framework of the QCD light-cone sum rules (LCSRs) we present the analysis of all $B, B_{s}\to η^{(\prime)}$ and $D, D_{s}\to η^{(\prime)}$ form factors ($f^+, f^0$ and $f^T$) by including $m_{η^{(\prime)}}^2$ corrections in the leading (up to the twist-four) and next-to-leading order (up to the twist-three) in QCD, and two-gluon contributions to the form factors at the leading twist. The SU(3)-flavour breaking corrections and the axial anomaly contributions to the distribution amplitudes are also consistently taken into account. The complete results for the $f^0$ and $f^T$ form factors …
In-medium modification of the eta' mass is discussed in the context of partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear medium. We emphasize that the U_A(1) anomaly effects causes the eta'-eta mass difference necessarily through the chiral symmetry breaking. As a consequence, the eta' mass is expected to be reduced by order of 100 MeV in nuclear matter where about 30% reduction of chiral symmetry takes place. The strong attraction relating to the eta' mass generation eventually implies that there should be also a strong attractive interaction in the scalar channel of the eta'-N two-body syste…
A phenomenological analysis of radiative $V\to Pγ$ and $P\to Vγ$ decays is performed with the purpose of determining the gluonic content of the $η$ and $η^\prime$ wave functions. Our results show that within our model there is no evidence for a gluonium contribution in the $η$, $Z_η^2=0.00\pm 0.12$, or the $η^\prime$, $Z_{η^\prime}^2=0.04\pm 0.09$. In terms of a mixing angle description this corresponds to $ϕ_P=(41.4\pm 1.3)^\circ$ and $|ϕ_{η^\prime G}|=(12\pm 13)^\circ$. In addition, the $η$-$η^\prime$ mixing angle is found to be $ϕ_P=(41.5\pm 1.2)^\circ$ if we don't allow for a gluonium comp…
We investigate pion photoproduction off the proton in a manifestly gauge-invariant chiral unitary extension of chiral perturbation theory. In a first step, we consider meson-baryon scattering taking into account all next-to-leading order contact interactions. The resulting low-energy constants are determined by a fit to s-wave pion-nucleon scattering and the low-energy data for the reaction pi- p --> eta n. To assess the theoretical uncertainty, we perform two different fit strategies. Having determined the low-energy constants, we then analyse the data on the s-wave multipole amplitudes E0+ o…
The branching ratios for the neutral and charged B decay channels to $η' K$ and $ηK^*$ are well above the Standard Model expectations. Moreover, the mixing-induced CP asymmetry in $B \to ϕK_S$ is incompatible to that found in $B\to J/ψK_S$. We investigate whether a flavour-specific tree-level $b\to s \bar{s} s$ operator coming from R-parity violating supersymmetry can resolve both these discrepancies, without jeopardizing those results which are in agreement with the Standard Model. We found that it is possible to have a parameter space satisfying all these requirements, including that of a lo…
We include the eta-prime in chiral perturbation theory without employing 1/N_c counting rules. The method is illustrated by calculating the masses and decay constants of the Goldstone boson octet (pions, kaons, eta) and the singlet eta-prime up to one-loop order. The effective Lagrangian describing the interactions of the eta-prime with the Goldstone boson octet is presented up to fourth chiral order and the loop integrals are evaluated using infrared regularization, which preserves Lorentz and chiral symmetry.
A value for the $η$-$η^\prime$ mixing angle is extracted from the data on $VPγ$ transitions using simple quark-model ideas. The set of data covers {\it all} possible radiative transitions between the pseudoscalar and vector meson nonets. Two main ingredients of the model are the introduction of flavour-dependent overlaps for the various $q\bar{q}$ wave functions and the use of the quark-flavour basis to describe the $η$-$η^\prime$ system. In this basis the mixing angle is found to be $ϕ_P=(37.7\pm 2.4)^\circ$.
A two mixing angle description of the pseudoscalar decay constants associated to the $η$-$η^\prime$ system is used to parametrize the theoretical amplitudes of the radiative decays $(η,η^\prime)\toγγ$ and the coupling constants $g_{V(η,η^\prime)γ}$ with $V=ρ,ω,ϕ$. The parametrization is performed in both the ``octet-singlet'' basis and the ``quark-flavour'' basis. An excellent agreement with the most recent experimental data is achieved. Our analysis reveals that at the present experimental accuracy the two mixing angles differ significantly in the former basis but not in the latter, in accord…
We investigate the relevance of the instanton-induced determinantal 't Hooft interaction to the eta-nucleon coupling within the framework of a three-flavor linear sigma model in the OZI-rule-respecting basis. Instantons, in combination with the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry, are shown to provide the major mechanism for the ideal mixing between pseudoscalar strange and non-strange quarkonia. As long as 't Hooft's interaction captures most of the basic features of the axial QCD gluon anomaly, we identify the anomaly as the main culprit for the appearance of octet flavor symmetry in the…
The $η$-$η^\prime$ pseudoscalar mixing angle and the gluonium content of the $η^\prime$ meson are deduced from an updated phenomenological analysis of $J/ψ$ decays into a vector and a pseudoscalar meson. In absence of gluonium, the value of the mixing angle in the quark-flavour basis is found to be $ϕ_P=(40.7\pm 2.3)^\circ$. In presence of gluonium, the values for the mixing angle and the gluonic content of the $η^\prime$ wave function are $ϕ_P=(44.6\pm 4.4)^\circ$ and $Z^2_{η^\prime}=0.29^{+0.18}_{-0.26}$, respectively. The newly reported values of $B(J/ψ\toρπ)$ by the BABAR and BES Collabora…
We improve the calculations of the $η\to π^0 γγ$ decay within the context of meson chiral lagrangians. We use a chiral unitary approach for the meson-meson interaction, thus generating the $a_0(980)$ resonance and fixing the longstanding sign ambiguity on its contribution. This also allows us to calculate the loops with one vector meson exchange, thus removing a former source of uncertainty. In addition we ensure the consistency of the approach with other processes. First, by using vector meson dominance couplings normalized to agree with radiative vector meson decays. And, second, by checking…
The $η$-$η^\prime$ pseudoscalar mixing angle and the gluonium content of the $η^\prime$ meson are deduced from an updated phenomenological analysis of $J/ψ$ decays into a vector and a pseudoscalar meson. The values for the mixing angle and the gluonic content of the $η^\prime$ wave function are $ϕ_P=(44.5\pm 4.3)^\circ$ and $Z^2_{η^\prime}=0.28\pm 0.21$, respectively.
The claim that the light quark mass ratio (m_d - m_u)/m_s can be extracted from the decay width ratio Gamma(eta' -> pi^0 pi^+ pi^-)/Gamma(eta' -> eta pi^+ pi^-) is critically investigated within a U(3) chiral unitary framework. The influence of the recent VES data on the eta' -> eta pi^+ pi^- decay is also discussed.
A phenomenological analysis of radiative $V\to Pγ$ and $P\to Vγ$ decays is performed in order to determine the gluonic content of the $η^\prime$ wave function. Our result shows that there is no evidence for such a gluonium contribution, $Z_{η^\prime}^2=0.04\pm 0.09$. In terms of a mixing angle description this corresponds to $ϕ_P=(41.4\pm 1.3)^\circ$ and $|ϕ_{η^\prime G}|=(12\pm 13)^\circ$.
We calculate the branching ratios and CP violating asymmetries of the four $B \to K \etap$ decays in the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach. Besides the full leading order contributions, the partial next-to-leading order (NLO) contributions from the QCD vertex corrections, the quark loops, and the chromo-magnetic penguins are also taken into account. The NLO pQCD predictions for the CP-averaged branching ratios are $Br(B^+ \to K^+ η) \approx 3.2 \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(B^\pm \to K^\pm \etar) \approx 51.0 \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(B^0 \to K^0 η) \approx 2.1 \times 10^{-6}$, and $Br(B^0 \to …
Preliminary results for the Dalitz plot distribution of $η^\prime\toηππ$ decays in the frameworks of Large-$N_c$ Chiral Perturbation Theory and Resonance Chiral Theory are given. We hope our results to be of some relevance for the present and forthcoming analysis of these decays at GAMS, CLEO, VES, KLOE-2, Crystal Ball, Crystal Barrel, WASA, and BES-III.
In this paper we perform a comprehensive study of the four $B \to K \etap$ decays in the pQCD factorization approach. We calculate the CP-averaged branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries of $B \to K\etap$ decays in the ordinary $η$-$\etar$, the $η$-$\etar$-$G$, and the $η$-$\etar$-$G$-$η_c$ mixing schemes. Besides the full LO contributions, all currently known NLO contributions to $B \to K \etap$ decays in the pQCD approach are taken into account. From our calculations and phenomenological analysis, we find the following. (a) The NLO contributions in general can provide significant enhan…
We construct a string-inspired model for the central production of $η$ and $η'$ mesons in proton-proton collisions, via double Pomeron exchange. Using general symmetry considerations, we construct a low-energy differential cross section for double glueball exchange in terms of some undetermined coupling constants and form factors. We extend this model to the Regge regime, replacing the glueball propagators with Pomeron trajectories, and modifying the interaction term by a factor derived from the 5-string scattering amplitude in flat space. We then fix the couplings which remain undetermined, u…
We argue that lattice calculations of the $η'$ mass in QCD with $N_c=2$ colors performed at non-zero baryon chemical potential can be used to study the mechanism responsible for the mass of the $η'$. QCD with two colors is an ideal laboratory because it exhibits confinement, chiral symmetry breaking and a would-be $U(1)_A$ Goldstone boson at all densities. Since the instanton density and the confinement scale vary with density in a very different way, instantons are clearly distinguishable from other possible mechanisms. There is an instanton prediction for the $η'$ mass at large density that …
Although recent experimental results in b-->s penguin process seem to be roughly consistent with the standard model predictions, there may be still large possibilities of new physics hiding in this processes. Therefore, here we investigate systematically the potential new physics effects that may appear in time-dependent CP asymmetries of B --> phi K^0, B--> eta^\prime K^0 and B--> K^0 π^0 decay modes, by classifying the cases for the values of the mixing-induced indirect CP asymmetries, S_{phi K^0}, S_{eta^\prime K^0}, S_{K^0 pi^0} which are compared to S_{J/psi K^0}. We also show that severa…
