We study the effects of lepton flavour violation (LFV) on the production processes e+e- --> χ+_i χ-_j at a linear collider with longitudinal e+ and e- beam polarizations. In the case of LFV the sneutrino mass eigenstates have no definite flavour, therefore, in the t-channel more than one sneutrino mass eigenstate can contribute to the chargino production cross sections. Our framework is the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) including LFV terms. We show that in spite of the restrictions on the LFV parameters due to the current limits on rare lepton decays, the cross section σ(e+e- --> χ+_1 χ-_1) can change by a factor of 2 or more when varying the LFV mixing angles. We point out that even if the present bound on BR(tau- --> e- gamma) improves by a factor of thousand the influence of LFV on the chargino production cross section can be significant. These results could have an important impact on the strategies for determining the underlying model parameters at the linear collider.
We test the impact of the ATLAS and CMS multi-lepton searches performed at the LHC with 8 as well as 13 TeV center-of-mass energy (using only the pre-2018 results) on the chargino and neutralino sector of the NMSSM. Our purpose consists in analyzing the actual reach of these searches for a full model and in emphasizing effects beyond the MSSM that affect the performance of current (MSSM-inspired) electroweakino searches. To this end, we consider several scenarios characterizing specific features of the NMSSM electroweakino sector. We then perform a detailed collider study, generating Monte-Car…
Combining Pati-Salam (PS) and flavour symmetries in a renormalisable setup, we devise a scenario which produces realistic masses for the charged leptons. Flavour-symmetry breaking scalar fields in the adjoint representations of the PS gauge group are responsible for generating different flavour structures for up- and down-type quarks as well as for leptons. The model is characterised by new heavy fermions which mix with the Standard Model quarks and leptons. In particular, the partners for the third fermion generation induce sizeable sources of flavour violation. Focusing on the charged-lepton…
We apply the covariant derivative expansion method to integrate out the neutralinos and charginos in the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model. The results are presented as set of pure bosonic dimension-6 operators in the Standard Model effective field theory. Nontrivial chirality dependence in fermionic covariant derivative expansion are discussed carefully. The results are checked by computing the $hγγ$ effective coupling and the electroweak oblique parameters using the Standard Model effective field theory with our effective operators and direct loop calculation. In global fitting the propo…
In leptonic flavour models with discrete flavour symmetries, couplings between flavons and leptons can result in special flavour structures after they gain vacuum expectation values. At the same time, they can also contribute to the other lepton-flavour-violating processes. We study the flavon-induced LFV 3-body charged lepton decays and radiative decays and we take as example the $A_4$ discrete symmetry. In $A_4$ models, a $Z_3$ residual symmetry roughly holds in the charged lepton sector for the realisation of tri-bimaximal mixing at leading order. The only processes allowed by this symmetry…
If observed, charged lepton flavour violation is a clear sign of new physics - beyond the Standard Model minimally extended to accommodate neutrino oscillation data. We briefly review several extensions of the Standard Model which could potentially give rise to observable signals, also emphasising the rôle of charged lepton flavour violation in probing such new physics models.
The flavour lepton symmetry is gauged for both the Standard Model flavor group and its extension with three degenerate right-handed neutrinos. As a consequence of anomaly cancellation, exotic leptons are introduced which induce a see-saw mechanism that generates the masses of the SM leptons. The model is compared with Minimal Flavour Violation, the difference between the low-energy effective operators resulting is identified, as well as the distinctive experimental signals, particularly promising in the $μ-τ$ sector.

If observed, charged lepton flavour violation is a clear sign of new physics - beyond the Standard Model minimally extended to accommodate neutrino oscillation data. After a brief review of several charged lepton flavour violation observables and their current experimental status, we consider distinct extensions of the Standard Model which could potentially give rise to observable signals, focusing on the case of models in which the mechanism of neutrino mass generation is the common source of neutral and charged lepton flavour violation.
This note is a concise theoretical summary of the first session on new physics searches at the high-intensity frontier of the IFAE2017 Conference. Recent theoretical developments related to muonic lepton-flavour violation and $g-2$ are reviewed.
We suppose that the observed neutrino masses can be parametrised by a lepton number violating dimension-five operator, and calculate the mixing of double insertions of this operator into lepton flavour changing dimension-six operators of the standard model effective theory. This allows to predict the log-enhanced, but $m_ν^2$-suppressed lepton flavour violation that is generic to high-scale Majorana neutrino mass models. We also consider the Two Higgs Doublet Model, where the second Higgs allows the construction of three additional dimension-five operators, and evaluate the corresponding anoma…
A properly defined and suitably broken $U(2)$ flavour symmetry leads to successful quantitative relations between quark mass ratios and CKM angles. At the same time the intrinsic distinction introduced by $U(2)$ between the third and the first two families of quarks and leptons may support anomalies in charged and neutral current semi-leptonic $B$-decays of the kind tentatively observed in current flavour experiments. We show how this is possible by the exchange of the $(3,1)_{2/3}$ vector leptoquark in two $U(2)$-models with significantly different values of Lepton Flavour Universality violat…
