Time--dependent integrals of motion which are linear forms in position and momentum are discussed for Husimi parametric forced oscillator. Generalization of these integrals of motion for q--oscillator is presented. Squeezing and quadrature correlation phenomena are discussed on the base of Schrödinger uncertainty relation. The properties of the generalized correlated states, squeezed states, even and odd coherent states (the Schrödinger cat states) are reviewed. The relation of the constructed nonclassical states to representations of the symplectic symmetry group and finite symmetry groups is discussed.
In a previous work the concept of quantum potential is generalized into extended phase space (EPS) for a particle in linear and harmonic potentials. It was shown there that in contrast to the Schrödinger quantum mechanics by an appropriate extended canonical transformation one can obtain the Wigner representation of phase space quantum mechanics in which the quantum potential is removed from dynamical equation. In other words, one still has the form invariance of the ordinary Hamilton-Jacobi equation in this representation. The situation, mathematically, is similar to the disappearance of the …
The phase space representation for a semiconfined harmonic oscillator model with a position-dependent effective mass is constructed. We have found the Husimi distribution function for the stationary states of the oscillator model under consideration for both cases without and with the applied external homogeneous field. The obtained function is expressed through the double sum of the parabolic cylinder function. Different special cases and the limit relations are discussed, too.
We consider a set of N linearly coupled harmonic oscillators and show that the diagonalization of this problem can be put in geometrical terms. The matrix techniques developed here allowed for solutions in both the classical and quantum regimes.
We study the emergence of a parity breaking coherent photonic state of a photon mode coupled to finite array of two-level systems, represented by pseudospins 1/2. The pseudospin-photon interaction is realised via a shift of the photonic oscillator equilibrium position by an amount linear in Cartesian component of the total pseudospin. We demonstrate analytically, that the instability is manifested in an upturn from concave to convex of the ground state energy dependence on the total pseudospin component coupled to the photons. The perturbation, sufficient for parity breaking, tends to zero in …
The squeezing effect arises in the interacting qubit-oscillator system is studied with the presence of a parametric oscillator in the Rabi model. Based on the generalized rotating wave approximation which works well in the wide range of coupling strength as well as detuning, the analytically derived approximate energy spectrum is compared with the numerically determined spectrum of the Hamiltonian. For the initial state of the bipartite system, the dynamical evolution of the reduced density matrix corresponding to the oscillator is obtained by partial tracing over the qubit degree of freedom. …
Quantum coherence and quantum correlations are studied in the strongly interacting system composed of two qubits and an oscillator with the presence of a parametric medium. To analytically solve the system, we employ the adiabatic approximation approach. It assumes each qubit's characteristic frequency is substantially lower than the oscillator frequency. To validate our approximation, a good agreement between the calculated energy spectrum of the Hamiltonian with its numerical result is presented. The time evolution of the reduced density matrices of the two-qubit and the oscillator subsystem…
Using Husimi function approach, we study the ``quantum phase space'' of a harmonic oscillator interacting with a plane monochromatic wave. We show that in the regime of weak chaos, the quantum system has the same symmetry as the classical system. Analytical results agree with the results of numerical calculations.
In this paper we provide the representation of the symplectic group $Sp(2n, \mathbb{R})$ in polymer quantum mechanics. We derive the propagator of the polymer free particle and the polymer harmonic oscillator without considering a polymer scale. The polymer scale is then introduced to reconcile our results with those expressions for the polymer free particle. The propagator for the polymer harmonic oscillator implies non-unitary evolution.
The transitionless tracking (TT) algorithm enables the exact tracking of quantum adiabatic dynamics in an arbitrary short time by adding a counterdiabatic Hamiltonian to the original adiabatic Hamiltonian. By applying Husimi's method originally developed for a quantum parametric oscillator (QPO) to the transitionless QPO achieved using the TT algorithm, we obtain the transition probability generating function with a time-dependent parameter constituted with solutions of the corresponding classical parametric oscillator (CPO). By obtaining the explicit solutions of this CPO using the phase-ampl…
The composition of the quantum potential and its role in the breakdown of classical symplectic symmetry in quantum mechanics is investigated. General expressions are derived for the quantum potential in both configuration space and momentum space representations. By comparing the configuration space and momentum space representations of the causal interpretation of quantum mechanics, the quantum potential is shown to break the symplectic symmetry that exists between these two representations in classical mechanics. In addition, it is shown that the quantum potential in configuration space may …
We extend the notion of quantum blob studied in previous work to excited states of the generalized harmonic oscillator in n dimensions. This extension is made possible by Fermi's observation in 1930 that the state of a quantum system may be defined in two different (but equivalent) ways, namely by its wavefunction Ψ or by a certain function g_{F} on phase space canonically associated with Ψ. We study Fermi's function when Ψ is a Gaussian (generalized coherent state). A striking result is that we can use the Ekeland--Hofer symplectic capacities to characterize the Fermi functions of the excited…
A Kerr-nonlinear parametric oscillator (KPO) can generate a quantum superposition of two oscillating states, known as a Schrödinger cat state, via quantum adiabatic evolution, and can be used as a qubit for gate-based quantum computing and quantum annealing. In this work, we investigate complex dynamics, i.e., chaos, in two coupled nondissipative KPOs at a few-photon level. After showing that a classical model for this system is nonintegrable and consequently exhibits chaotic behavior, we provide quantum counterparts for the classical results, which are quantum versions of the Poincaré surface…
We study quantum mechanics in the phase space associated with the coherent state (CS) manifold of Lie groups. Eigenstates of generators of the group are constructed as one dimensional integral superpositions of CS along their orbits. We distinguish certain privileged orbits where the superposition is in phase. Interestingly, for closed in phase orbits, the geometric phase must be quantized to $2π\mathbb{Z}$, else the superposition vanishes. This corresponds to exact Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization. The maximum of the Husimi-Kano $Q$ quasiprobability distribution is used to diagnose where in phase…
We revise the construction of creation/annihilation operators in quantum mechanics based on the representation theory of the Heisenberg and symplectic groups. Besides the standard harmonic oscillator (the elliptic case) we similarly treat the repulsive oscillator (hyperbolic case) and the free particle (the parabolic case). The respective hypercomplex numbers turn to be handy on this occasion, this provides a further illustration to Similarity and Correspondence Principle. Keywords: Heisenberg group, Kirillov's method of orbits, geometric quantisation, quantum mechanics, classical mechanics, P…
Classically the Harmonic Oscillator (HO) is the generic example for the use of angle and action variables phi in R mod 2 pi and I > 0. But the symplectic transformation (ϕ,I) to (q,p) is singular for (q,p) = (0,0). Globally {(q,p)} has the structure of the plane R^2, but {(phi,I)} that of the punctured plane R^2 -(0,0). This implies qualitative differences for the QM of the two phase spaces: The quantizing group for the plane R^2 consists of the (centrally extended) translations generated by {q,p,1}, but the corresponding group for {(phi,I)} is SO(1,2) = Sp(2,R)/Z_2, (Sp(2,R): symplectic group…
