We propose a method for generating all symmetric Dicke states, either in the long-lived internal levels of N massive particles or in the polarization degrees of freedom of photonic qubits, using linear optical tools only. By means of a suitable multiphoton detection technique, erasing Welcher-Weg information, our proposed scheme allows the generation and measurement of an important class of entangled multiqubit states.

The Dicke model is a paradigmatic quantum-optical model describing the interaction of a collection of two-level systems with a single bosonic mode. Effective implementations of this model made it possible to observe the emergence of superradiance, i.e., cooperative phenomena arising from the collective nature of light-matter interactions. Via reservoir engineering and analogue quantum simulation techniques, current experimental platforms allow us not only to implement the Dicke model, but also to design more exotic interactions, such as the two-photon Dicke model. In the Hamiltonian case, this…
A methodology is devised for building optimal bases for the generalized Dicke model based on the symmetry adapted variational solution to the problem. At order zero, the matter sector is constructed by distributing $N_a$ particles in all the possible two-level subsystems connected with electromagnetic radiation; the next order is obtained when the states of $N_a-1$ particles are added and distributed again into the two-level subsystems; and so on. In the electromagnetic sector, the order zero for each mode is the direct sum of the Fock spaces, truncated to a value of the corresponding constant…

Both the electron transport-based qubits, implemented through double quantum dots, and the sources of indistinguishable single-photons like self-assembled quantum dots are strong candidates for the implementation of quantum technologies, such as quantum computers and quantum repeaters. Here, we demonstrate a reliable way of coupling these two types of qubits, uncovering the possibility of controlling and reading out the population of the double quantum dot via optical excitation. It is also showed that, in spite of the decoherence mechanisms affecting the qubits, the entanglement between them …
Quantum communication between remote superconducting systems is being studied intensively to increase the number of integrated superconducting qubits and to realize a distributed quantum computer. Since optical photons must be used for communication outside a dilution refrigerator, the direct conversion of microwave photons to optical photons has been widely investigated. However, the direct conversion approach suffers from added photon noise, heating due to a strong optical pump, and the requirement for large cooperativity. Instead, for quantum communication between superconducting qubits, we…
