This is the second part of a paper about a q-deformed analog of non-relativistic Schroedinger theory. It applies the general ideas of part I and tries to give a description of one-particle states on q-deformed quantum spaces like the braided line or the q-deformed Euclidean space in three dimensions. Hamiltonian operators for the free q-deformed particle in one as well as three dimensions are introduced. Plane waves as solutions to the corresponding Schroedinger equations are considered. Their completeness and orthonormality relations are written down. Expectation values of position and momentum observables are taken with respect to one-particle states and their time-dependence is discussed. A potential is added to the free-particle Hamiltonians and q-analogs of the Ehrenfest theorem are derived from the Heisenberg equations of motion. The conservation of probability is proved.
The aim of these three papers (I, II, and III) is to develop a q-deformed version of non-relativistic Schroedinger theory. Paper I introduces the fundamental mathematical and physical concepts. The braided line and the three-dimensional q-deformed Euclidean space play the role of position space. For both cases the algebraic framework is extended by a time element. A short review of the elements of q-deformed analysis on the spaces under consideration is given. The time evolution operator is introduced in a consistent way and its basic properties are discussed. These reasonings are continued by…
This is the third part of a paper about non-relativistic Schroedinger theory on q-deformed quantum spaces like the braided line or the three-dimensional q-deformed Euclidean space. Propagators for the free q-deformed particle are derived and their basic properties are discussed. A time-dependent formulation of scattering is proposed. In this respect, q-analogs of the Lippmann-Schwinger equation are given. Expressions for their iterative solutions are written down. It is shown how to calculate S-matrices and transition probabilities. Furthermore, attention is focused on the question what become…
A simple version of the q-deformed calculus is used to generate a pair of q-nonlocal, second-order difference operators by means of deformed counterparts of Darboux intertwining operators for zero factorization energy. These deformed non-local operators may be considered as supersymmetric partners and their structure contains contributions originating in both the Hermite operator and the quantum harmonic oscillator operator. There are also extra $\pm x$ contributions. The undeformed limit, in which all q-nonlocalities wash out, corresponds to the usual supersymmetric pair of quantum mechanical…
We propose a nonlinear modification of the Schrödinger equation that possesses the main properties of this equation such as the Galilean invariance, the weak separability of composite systems, and the homogeneity in the wave function. The modification is derived from the relativistic relation between the energy and momentum of free particle and, as such, it is the best relativistic extension of the Schrödinger equation that preserves the properties in question. The only change it effectively entails in the Schrödinger equation involves the conserved probability current. It is pointed out that …
Based on the well-known relation between Fokker-Planck equations and Schroedinger equations of quantum mechanics (QM), we propose new deformed Fokker-Planck (FP) equations associated with the Schroedinger equations of "discrete" QM. The latter is a natural discretization of QM and its Schroedinger equations are difference instead of differential equations. Exactly solvable FP equations are obtained corresponding to exactly solvable "discrete" QM, whose eigenfunctions include various deformations of the classical orthogonal polynomials.
We develop the equivalence between the two-dimensional Dirac oscillator and the anti-Jaynes-Cummings model within a q-deformed scenario. We solve the Hamiltonian spectrum and the time evolution for number and coherent initial states, focusing on the appearance of the Zitterbewegung effect. We show the lack of preservation of the q-deformed versions of the total angular momentum that reproduces a collapse-revival structure. We provide suitable relations for the non relativistic limit.
This MSc dissertation surveys nine interpretations of non-relativistic quantum mechanics. Extensive references are given. The interpretations covered are: the orthodox interpretation, Bohr's interpretation, the idea that the mind causes collapse, hidden variables, the many-worlds interpretation, the many-minds interpretation, Bohm's interpretation and two interpretations based on decoherent histories.
The motion of a particle is studied in a random space-time. It is assumed that the velocity is small enough for the non-relativistic approximation to be valid. The randomness of the metric induces a diffusion in coordinate space. Hence it is shown that the evolution of the probability density is given by Schroedinger equation.
We are presenting an internal trajectory model for a quantum particle in the Schroedinger non-relativistic approximation. This model is based on two new mathematical concepts: a complex analytical mechanics in Minplus complex analysis and a periodical non random process which gives a complex Ito formula. This model naturally generates a concept of spin or isospin and the Heisenberg inequalities, and leads to the Schroedinger equation using a generalization of the least action principle adapted to the trajectories of this type.
In this study, we solve the Klein-Gordon equation with equal scalar and vector q-deformed hyperbolic modified Pöschl-Teller potential. The explicit expressions of bound state spectra and the normalized eigenfunctions for s-wave bound states are obtained analytically. The energy equations and the corresponding wave functions for the special cases of the equally mixed q-deformed hyperbolic modified Pöschl-Teller potential for spinless particle are briefly discussed.
In continuation of a previous paper a close connection between Feynman propagators and a particular Lévy stochastic process is established. The approach can be easily applied to the Standard Model SU_C(3)xSU_L(2)xU(1) providing qualitative interesting results. Quantitative results, compatible with experimental data, are obtained in the case of neutrinos.
Starting from the relation between the kinetic energy of a free Levy-Schroedinger particle and the logarithmic characteristic of the underlying stochastic process, we show that it is possible to get a precise relation between renormalizable field theories and a specific Levy process. This subsequently leads to a particular cut-off in the perturbative diagrams and can produce a phenomenological mass spectrum that allows an interpretation of quarks and leptons distributed in the three families of the standard model.
A one-dimensional Schrödinger equation with position-dependent effective mass in the kinetic energy operator is studied in the framework of an $so(2,1)$ algebra. New mass-deformed versions of Scarf II, Morse and generalized Pöschl-Teller potentials are obtained. Consistency with an intertwining condition is pointed out.
Yes, there is. - A new kind of gauge theory is introduced, where the minimal coupling and corresponding covariant derivatives are defined in the space of functions pertaining to the functional Schroedinger picture of a given field theory. While, for simplicity, we study the example of an U(1) symmetry, this kind of gauge theory can accommodate other symmetries as well. We consider the resulting relativistic nonlinear extension of quantum mechanics and show that it incorporates gravity in the (0+1)-dimensional limit, where it leads to the Schroedinger-Newton equations. Gravity is encoded here i…
Starting on the basis of $q$-symmetric oscillator algebra and on the associate $q$-calculus properties, we study a deformed quantum mechanics defined in the framework of the basic square-integrable wave functions space. In this context, we introduce a deformed Schroedinger equation, which satisfies the main quantum mechanics assumptions and admits, in the free case, plane wave functions that can be expressed in terms of the q-deformed exponential, originally introduced in the framework of the basic-hypergeometric functions.
We analyze the influence of relativistic effects on the minimum evolution time between two orthogonal states of a quantum system. Defining the initial state as an homogeneous superposition between two Hamiltonian eigenstates of an electron in a uniform magnetic field, we obtain a relation between the minimum evolution time and the displacement of the mean radial position of the electron wavepacket. The quantum speed limit time is calculated for an electron dynamics described by Dirac and Schroedinger-Pauli equations considering different parameters, such as the strength of magnetic field and t…
A new approach in solution of simple quantum mechanical problems in deformed space with minimal length is presented. We propose the generalization of Schroëdinger equation in momentum representation on the case of deformed Heisenberg algebra with minimal length. Assuming that the kernel of potential energy operator do not change in the case of deformation, we obtain exact solution of eigenproblem of a particle in delta potential as well as double delta potential. Particle in Coulomb like potential is revisited and the problem of inversibility and hermicity of inverse coordinate operator is sol…
It is shown how the essentials of quantum theory, i.e., the Schroedinger equation and the Heisenberg uncertainty relations, can be derived from classical physics. Next to the empirically grounded quantisation of energy and momentum, the only input is given by the assumption of fluctuations in energy and momentum to be added to the classical motion. Extending into the relativistic regime for spinless particles, this procedure leads also to a derivation of the Klein-Gordon equation. Comparing classical Hamiltonian flow with quantum theory, then, the essential difference is given by a vanishing d…
In non relativistic quantum mechanics time enters as a parameter in the Schroedinger equation. However, there are various situations where the need arises to view time as a dynamical variable. In this paper we consider the dynamical role of time through the construction of a Lyapunov variable - i.e., a self-adjoint quantum observable whose expectation value varies monotonically as time increases. It is shown, in a constructive way, that a certain class of models admit a Lyapunov variable and that the existence of a Lyapunov variable implies the existence of a transformation mapping the origina…
The variational method in a reformulated Hamiltonian formalism of Quantum Electrodynamics is used to derive relativistic wave equations for systems consisting of n fermions and antifermions of various masses. The derived interaction kernels of these equations include one-photon exchange interactions. The equations have the expected Schroedinger non-relativistic limit. Application to some exotic few lepton systems is discussed briefly.
Within the framework of self-adjoint operator of time in non-relativistic quantum mechanics the equation describing change of the state of quantum system with respect to energy is introduced. The operator of time appears to be the generator of the change of energy while the operator of energy, that is conjugate to the operator of time, generates time evolution in this proposal. Two examples, one with discrete time and the other with continuous one, are given and the generalization of Schroedinger equation is proposed.
Within the framework of self-adjoint operator of time in non-relativistic quantum mechanics some properties of solutions of Schroedinger equation, related to Hilbert space formalism, are investigated for two types of time dependent Hamiltonian.
A new kind of gauge theory is introduced, where the minimal coupling and corresponding covariant derivatives are defined in the space of functions pertaining to the functional Schroedinger picture of a given field theory. While, for simplicity, we study the example of a U(1) symmetry, this kind of gauge theory can accommodate other symmetries as well. We consider the resulting relativistic nonlinear extension of quantum mechanics and show that it incorporates gravity in the (0+1)-dimensional limit, similar to recently studied Schroedinger-Newton equations. Gravity is encoded here into a univer…
A new convenient method to diagonalize the non-relativistic many-body Schroedinger equation with two-body central potentials is derived. It combines kinematic rotations (democracy transformations) and exact calculation of overlap integrals between bases with different sets of mass-scaled Jacobi coordinates, thereby allowing for a great simplification of this formidable problem. We validate our method by obtaining a perfect correspondence with the exactly solvable three-body ($N=3$) Calogero model in 1D.
In this work, we study the exact solution of Dirac equation in the hyper-spherical coordinate under influence of separable q-Deformed quantum potentials. The q-deformed hyperbolic Rosen-Morse potential is perturbed by q-deformed non-central trigonometric Scarf potentials, where whole of them can be solved by using Asymptotic Iteration Method (AIM). This work is limited to spin symmetry case. The relativistic energy equation and orbital quantum number equation lD-1 have been obtained using Asymptotic Iteration Method. The upper radial wave function equations and angular wave function equations …
In this article, after introducing a kind of q-deformation in quantum mechanics, first, q-deformed form of Dirac equation in relativistic quantum mechanics is derived. Then three important scat erring problem in physics are studied. All results have satisfied what we had expected before. Furthermore, effects of all parameters in the problems on the reflection and transmission coefficients are calculated and shown graphically.
An exactly solvable position-dependent mass Schrödinger equation in two dimensions, depicting a particle moving in a semi-infinite layer, is re-examined in the light of recent theories describing superintegrable two-dimensional systems with integrals of motion that are quadratic functions of the momenta. To get the energy spectrum a quadratic algebra approach is used together with a realization in terms of deformed parafermionic oscillator operators. In this process, the importance of supplementing algebraic considerations with a proper treatment of boundary conditions for selecting physical w…
In this comment, we point out some shortcomings in two papers "Fractional quantum mechanics" [Phys. Rev. E 62, 3135 (2000)] and "Fractional Schroedinger equation" [Phys. Rev. E 66, 056108 (2002)]. We prove that the fractional uncertainty relation does not hold generally. The probability continuity equation in fractional quantum mechanics has a missing source term, which leads to particle teleportation, i.e., a particle can teleport from one place to another. Since the relativistic kinetic energy can be viewed as an approximate realization of the fractional kinetic energy, the particle teleport…
The similarity renormalization group is used to transform a general Dirac Hamiltonian into diagonal form. The diagonal Dirac operator consists of the nonrelativistic term, the spin-orbit term, the dynamical term, and the relativistic modification of kinetic energy, which are very useful to explore the symmetries hidden in the Dirac Hamiltonian for any deformed system. As an example, the relativistic symmetries in an axially deformed nucleus are investigated by comparing the contributions of every term to the single particle energies and their correlations with the deformation. The result shows…
The main purpose of the paper is an essentially probabilistic analysis of relativistic quantum mechanics. It is based on the assumption that whenever probability distributions arise, there exists a stochastic process that is either responsible for temporal evolution of a given measure or preserves the measure in the stationary case. Our departure point is the so-called Schrödinger problem of probabilistic evolution, which provides for a unique Markov stochastic interpolation between any given pair of boundary probability densities for a process covering a fixed, finite duration of time, provid…
We have developed a unified scheme for studying Non-Commutative algebras based on Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) and Snyder form in a relativistically covariant point particle Lagrangian (or symplectic) framework. Even though the GUP based algebra and Snyder algebra are very distinct, the more involved latter algebra emerges from an approximation of the Lagrangian model of the former algebra. Deformed Poincare generators for the systems that keep space-time symmetries of the relativistic particle models have been studied thoroughly. From a purely constrained dynamical analysis perspec…
We formulate an effective Schroedinger wave equation describing the quantum dynamics of a system of D0-branes by applying the Wilson renormalization group equation to the worldsheet partition function of a deformed sigma-model describing the system, which includes the quantum recoil due to the exchange of string states between the individual D-particles. We arrive at an effective Fokker-Planck equation for the probability density with diffusion coefficient determined by the total kinetic energy of the recoiling system. We use Galilean invariance of the system to show that there are three possi…
In this paper we show how all the quantum properties of Schroedinger and Pauli particles can be described entirely from within a Clifford algebra taken over the reals. There is no need to appeal to any `wave function'. To describe a quantum system, we define the Clifford density element [CDE] as a product of an element of a minimal left ideal and its Clifford conjugate. The properties of the system are then completely specified in terms of bilinear invariants of the first and second kind calculated using the CDE. Thus the quantum properties of a system can be completely described from within t…
The $\text{T}\bar{\text{T}}$-deformed classical Lagrangian of a 2D Lorentz invariant theory can be derived from the original one, perturbed only at first order by the bare $\text{T}\bar{\text{T}}$ composite field, through a field-dependent change of coordinates. Considering, as an example, the nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) model with generic potential, we apply this idea to non-relativistic models. The form of the deformed Lagrangian contains a square-root and is similar but different from that for relativistic bosons. We study the deformed bright, grey and Peregrine's soliton solutions. Contrar…
A comprehensive review of exactly solvable quantum mechanics is presented with the emphasis of the recently discovered multi-indexed orthogonal polynomials. The main subjects to be discussed are the factorised Hamiltonians, the general structure of the solution spaces of the Schroedinger equation (Crum's theorem and its modifications), the shape invariance, the exact solvability in the Schroedinger picture as well as in the Heisenberg picture, the creation/annihilation operators and the dynamical symmetry algebras, coherent states, various deformation schemes (multiple Darboux transformations)…
