The separation between the spin and the charge converts the quantum mechanical Pauli Hamiltonian into the Hamiltonian of the non-Abelian Georgi-Glashow model, notorious for its magnetic monopoles and confinement. The independent spin and charge fluctuations both lead to the Faddeev model, suggesting the existence of a deep duality structure and indicating that the fundamental carriers of spin and charge are knotted solitons.
We derive the Pauli equation for a charged spin particle confined to move on a spatially curved surface $\mathcal{S}$ in an electromagnetic field. Using the thin-layer quantization scheme to constrain the particle on $\mathcal{S}$, and in the transformed spinor representations, we obtain the well-known geometric potential $V_g$ and the presence of $e^{-iφ}$, which can generate additive spin connection geometric potentials by the curvilinear coordinate derivatives, and we find that the two fundamental evidences in the literature [Giulio Ferrari and Giampaolo Cuoghi, Phys. Rev. Lett. 100, 230403…
This work aims to reproduce a quantum system composed of a charged spin - $1/2$ fermion interacting with a dyon with an opposite electrical charge (charge-dyon system), utilizing a position-dependent effective mass (PDM) background in the non-relativistic regime via the PDM free Pauli equation. To investigate whether there is a PDM quantum system with the same physics (analogous model) that a charge-dyon system (target system), we resort to the PDM free Pauli equation itself. We proceed with replacing the exact bi-spinor of the target system into this equation, obtaining an uncoupled system of…
We review in this article the role which the work of Pauli and Weisskopf played in formulating a quantum field theory of spinless particles. To make our computations as transparent as possible, we offer a physicist's derivation of the Klein-Gordon-Fock equation. Since invariant functions play a significant part in our paper, we will discuss them in great detail. We emphasize Pauli's and Weisskopf's view that Dirac's hole theory is totally obsolete in formulating a consistent quantum field theory, be it for scalar or spinor particles. As an important example we present the calculation for produ…
Pauli spin blockade in quantum dot systems occurs when the charge transport is allowed only for some spin states, and it has been an efficient tool in spin-based qubit devices in semiconductors. We theoretically investigate a Pauli spin blockade in a triple quantum dot molecule consisting of three identical quantum dots in a semiconductor in the presence of an external magnetic field through the molecule. When the three-electron state is on resonance with two- or four-electron states, the Aharonov-Bohm oscillation and the Zeeman splitting lead to a periodic spin blockade effect. We focus on th…
It is shown that the Pauli equation and the concept of spin naturally emerge from logical inference applied to experiments on a charged particle under the conditions that (i) space is homogeneous (ii) the observed events are logically independent, and (iii) the observed frequency distributions are robust with respect to small changes in the conditions under which the experiment is carried out. The derivation does not take recourse to concepts of quantum theory and is based on the same principles which have already been shown to lead to e.g. the Schrödinger equation and the probability distribu…
We introduce a qauantitative measure of spin-charge separation, $ζ(t)$ which is based on the difference between the fluctuations with respect to background of the spin and charge profiles at any time t and is suitable for studying the non-equilibrium dynamics of excitations in strongly correlated systems. This quantity is not only a direct measure of the spin-charge separation in strongly correlated systems, but its long time behaviour can further serve as a possible order parameter for the interaction induced (Mott) insulating state. Within the nu- merically exact diagonzalization we calculat…
Spin-charge separation (SCS) is a striking manifestation of strong correlations in low-dimensional quantum systems, whereby a fermion splits into separate spin and charge excitations that travel at different speeds. Here, we demonstrate that periodic driving enables control over SCS in a Hubbard system near half-filling. In one dimension, we predict analytically an exotic regime where charge travels slower than spin and can even become 'frozen', in agreement with numerical calculations. In two dimensions, the driving slows both charge and spin, and leads to complex interferences between single…
Physical problems for which the existence of non-trivial topological Pauli phase (i.e. fractional quantization of angular orbital angular momenta that is possible in 2D case) is essential are discussed within the framework of two-dimensional Helmholtz, Schroedinger and Dirac equations. As examples in classical field theory we consider a "wedge problem" -- a description of a field generated by a point charge between two conducting half-planes -- and a Fresnel diffraction from knife-edge. In few-electron circular quantum dots the choice between integer and half-integer quantization of orbital an…
Quantum computation relies on accurate measurements of qubits not only for reading the output of the calculation, but also to perform error correction. Most proposed scalable silicon architectures utilize Pauli blockade of triplet states for spin-to-charge conversion. In recent experiments, there have been instances when instead of conventional triplet blockade readout, Pauli blockade is sustained only between parallel spin configurations, with $|T_0\rangle$ relaxing quickly to the singlet state and leaving $|T_+\rangle$ and $|T_-\rangle$ states blockaded -- which we call \textit{parity readou…
