We study a continuous-variable entangled state composed of two states which are squeezed in two opposite quadratures in phase space. Various entanglement conditions are tested for the entangled squeezed state and we study decoherence models for noise, producing a mixed entangled squeezed state. We briefly describe a probabilistic protocol for entanglement swapping based on the use of this class of entangled states and the main features of a general generation scheme.
The upper and lower bounds of entanglement of formation are given for two mode squeezed thermal state. The bounds are compared with other entanglement measure or bounds. The entanglement distillation and the relative entropy of entanglement of infinitive squeezed state are obtained at the postulation of hashing inequality.
I study the three parameters bipartite quantum Gaussian state called squeezed asymmetric thermal state, calculate Gaussian entanglement of formation analytically and the up bound of relative entropy of entanglement, compare them with coherent information of the state.Based on the result obtained, one can determine the relative entropy of entanglement of the state with infinitive squeezing.
We propose a scheme for generating the superposition and the entanglement of squeezed vacuum states of electromagnetical fields. The scheme involves single-photon source, single photon detector, and cross Kerr nonlinearity. The Kerr nonlinearity required for generating the superposition of squeezed vacuum states is 1/2 of that required for generating the superposition of coherent states. The proposal can also be extended to generate the entanglement states between two coherent states and that between one coherent state and one squeezed vacuum state.
We show how one can entangle distant atoms by using squeezed light. Entanglement is obtained in steady state, and can be increased by manipulating the atoms locally. We study the effects of imperfections, and show how to scale up the scheme to build a quantum network.
In the previous paper, we adopted the method using quantum mutual entropy to measure the degree of entanglement in the time development of the Jaynes-Cummings model. In this paper, we formulate the entanglement in the time development of the Jaynes-Cummings model with squeezed states, and then show that the entanglement can be controlled by means of squeezing.
We demonstrate the feasibility to completely characterize entanglement by negativities of quasiprobabilities. This requires the complete solution of a sophisticated mathematical problem, the so-called separability eigenvalue problem. Its solution is obtained for a non-Gaussian continuous variable quantum state, a two-mode squeezed state undergoing dephasing. This is a standard scenario for experiments with quantum-correlated radiation fields.
A class of squeezed boson and fermion states is studied with particular emphasis on the nature of entanglement. We first investigate the case of bosons, considering two-mode squeezed states. Then we construct the fermion version to show that such states are maximum entangled, for both bosons and fermions. To achieve these results, we demonstrate some relations involving squeezed boson states. The generalization to the case of fermions is made by using Grassmann variables.
The position variance of a single-mode Yuen states can go below the standard quantum limit. For two-mode squeezed states, it is shown that the time-dependent evolution of the entanglement of formation can be contractive, going below that of the squeezed state with minimum Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen dispersions, and increasing thereafter. The rate of change of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen dispersions as a function of the two-mode phases control this process. Contractive entanglement is shown to be equivalent to a rotating phase space accompanied by time-dependent single-mode squeezing.
We propose a method to refine entanglement via swapping from a pair of squeezed vacuum states by performing the Bell measurement of number sum and phase difference. The resultant states are maximally entangled by adjusting the two squeezing parameters to the same value. We then describe the teleportation of number states by using the entangled states prepared in this way.
Quadrature squeezed cylindrically polarized modes contain entanglement not only in the polarization and spatial electric field variables but also between these two degrees of freedom [1]. In this paper we present tools to generate and detect this entanglement. I investigate the decoherence of two-mode squeezed vacuum states by analyzing the relative entropy of entanglement. I consider two sources of decoherence: (i) the phase damping and (ii) the amplitude damping due to the coupling to the thermal environment. In particular, I give the exact value of the relative entropy of entanglement for the phase damping model. For the amplitude damping model, I give an upper bound for the relative entropy of entanglement, which turns out to be a good approximation for the entanglement measure in usual experimental situations.
The generation of quantum entanglement of macroscopic or mesoscopic bodies in mechanical motion is generally bounded by the thermal fluctuation exerted by their environments. Here we propose a scheme to establish stationary entanglement between two mechanically oscillating mirrors of a cavity. It is revealed that, by applying a broadband squeezed laser acting as a squeezed-vacuum reservoir to the cavity, a stable entanglement between the mechanical mirrors can be generated. We study experimentally the lifetime of a special class of entangled states in an atomic clock, squeezed spin states. In the presence of anisotropic noise, their lifetime is strongly dependent on squeezing orientation. We measure the Allan deviation spectrum of a clock operated with a phase-squeezed input state. For integration times up to 50 s the squeezed clock achieves a given precision 2.8(3) times faster than a clock operating at the standard quantum limit.
There have recently been interests in transferring entanglement between two quantum systems in different Hilbert spaces. In particular, the study of entanglement transfer from a continuous-variable to a qubit system has a primary importance due to practical implications. A continuous-variable system easily propagates entanglement while a qubit system is easy to manipulate. The dynamics of entanglement between two - level atoms interacting with a common squeezed reservoir is investigated. It is shown that for spatially separated atoms there is a unique asymptotic state depending on the distance between the atoms and the atom - photons detuning. In the regime of strong correlations there is a one - parameter family of asymptotic steady - states depending on initial conditions. In contrast to the thermal reservoir both types of asymptotic states can be entangled. We calculate the amount of entanglement in the system in terms of concurrence.
We consider the coherent state radiation field inside a micromaser cavity and study the entanglement mediated by it on a pair of two level atoms passing though the cavity one after the other. We then investigate the effects of squeezing of the cavity field on the atomic entanglement. We compute the entanglement of formation for the emerging mixed two-atom state and show that squeezing of the cavity radiation field can increase the atomic entanglement.
Tunable interaction between two atoms in a cavity is realized by interacting the two atoms with an extra controllable single-mode squeezed field. Such a controllable interaction can be further used to control entanglement between the two atoms against amplitude damping decoherence caused by spontaneous emissions. For the independent amplitude damping decoherence channel, entanglement will be lost completely without controls, while it can be partially preserved by the proposed strategy. I propose the multi-mode squeezed thermal state based on the multi-mode pure entangled state. The correlation matrix of the state is characterized by two parameters. I then analysis the separable condition for this state, and calculating the relative entropy of the state with respect to the same kind of fully separable state in order to provide an upper bound of the relative entropy of entanglement. The bound is compared with the other bounds which were obtained with reduced state.
We investigate the systematic use of the Schwinger representation, by virtue of which two boson fields are equivalent to an effective spin, for casting multimode squeezed states into multipartite spin entangled states. We study the exact decoherence dynamics of the entangled squeezed state of two single-mode optical fields interacting with two independent and uncorrelated environments. We analyze in detail the non-Markovian effects on the entanglement evolution of the initially entangled squeezed state for different environmental correlation time scales. We investigate the properties of quantum entanglement of two-mode squeezed states interacting with linear baths with general gain and loss parameters. By explicitly solving for ρfrom the master equation, we determine analytical expressions of eigenvalues and eigenvectors of ρ^{T_A} (the partial transposition of density matrix ρ). In Fock space, ρ^{T_A} is shown to maintain a block diagonal structure as the system evolves. It has been shown that entanglement distillation of Gaussian entangled states by means of local photon subtraction can be improved by local Gaussian transformations. Here we show that a similar effect can be expected for the distillation of an asymmetric Gaussian entangled state that is produced by a single squeezed beam. We show that for low initial entanglement, our largely simplified protocol generates more entanglement than previous proposed protocols. Some non-classical properties such as squeezing, sub-Poissonian photon statistics or oscillations in photon-number distributions may survive longer in a phase-sensitive environment than in a phase-insensitive environment. We examine if entanglement, which is an inter-mode non-classical feature, can also survive longer in a phase-sensitive environment. Differently from the single-mode case, we find that making the environment phase-sensitive does not aid in prolonging entanglement.

The proposed inequality is optimal for the state under consideration and robust against particle losses up to 2/3. Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) entanglement is a criterion that is more demanding than just certifying entanglement. We theoretically and experimentally analyze the low resource generation of bi-partite continuous variable entanglement, as realized by mixing a squeezed mode with a vacuum mode at a balanced beam splitter, i.e. the generation of so-called vacuum-class entanglement. We investigate the entanglement and nonlocality properties of one- and two-mode combination squeezed vacuum state (OTCSS, with two-parameter lamda and gamma) by analyzing the logarithmic negativity and the Bell's inequality. We investigate the entanglement patterns of photon-added and -subtracted four-mode squeezed vacuum states. Entanglements in different scenarios are analyzed by varying the number of photons added or subtracted in certain modes, which are referred to as the "player" modes, the others being "spectators." We demonstrate how to create maximal entanglement between two qubits that are encoded in two spectrally distinct solid-state quantum emitters embedded in a waveguide interferometer. The optical probe is provided by readily accessible squeezed light, generated by parametric down-conversion. We quantify multiparticle quantum entanglement in a system of N two-level atoms interacting with a squeezed vacuum state of the electromagnetic field. We calculate the amount of quantum entanglement present among one hundred such two-level atoms and also show the variation of that entanglement with the radiation field parameter. We show the continuous variation of the amount of quantum entanglement as we continuously increase the number of atoms from N=2 to N=100. We experimentally demonstrate entanglement distillation of the two mode squeezed state. Applying the annihilation operator to both modes, we increase the fraction of the two-photon component in the state, resulting in the increase of both squeezing and entanglement by about 50%.
We consider the problem of evaluating the entanglement of non-Gaussian mixed states generated by photon subtraction from entangled squeezed states. The entanglement measures we use are the negativity and the logarithmic negativity. These measures possess the unusual property of being computable with linear algebra packages even for high-dimensional quantum systems.
