We show that a single-mode squeeze operator S(z) being an unitary operator with a purely continuous spectrum gives rise to a family of discrete real generalized eigenvalues. These eigenvalues are closely related to the spectral properties of S(z) and the corresponding generalized eigenvectors may be interpreted as resonant states well known in the scattering theory. It turns out that these states entirely characterize the action of S(z). This result is then generalized to N-mode squeezing.
We suggest and demonstrate a scheme to reconstruct the symmetric two-mode squeezed thermal states of spectral sideband modes from an optical parametric oscillator. The method is based on a single homodyne detector and active stabilization of the cavity. The measurement scheme have been successfully tested on different two-mode squeezed thermal states, ranging from uncorrelated coherent states to entangled states.
Capabilities of quantum optical SFG-gate seeded by squeezed light are investigated in the frame of frequency Schmidt modes. Methods to manage and manipulate extensively the properties and mode content of squeezed light are developed. Possibilities to block and select any certain Schmidt mode of squeezed light with conservation of non-classical properties are demonstrated. The significant phase sensitivity of the gate is shown and the ways to manage the spectral distribution of the output light due to the phase effects and variable coupling between modes in the gate are demonstrated. The effect…
In 1988, I translated a popular article 'Squeezed light' for the Hungarian mutation of Scientific American. How shall we say 'squeezed' in our language from now on? At the time, Janszky was already Hungary's top quantum optics theorist, he excelled in squeezed light research as well, so I did not want to decide without asking him. He voted for the word 'préselt' [prayshalt], and it worked, became standard in our talking and writing about squeezed light. To his memory, let me dedicate an easy route (two pages) to normal ordering the squeeze operator, based on my recent extension of the Wick theo…
Quantisation with Gaussian type states offers certain advantages over other quantisation schemes, in particular, they can serve to regularise formally discontinuous classical functions leading to well defined quantum operators. In this work we define a squeezed state quantisation in two dimensions using several families of squeezed states for one- and two-mode configurations. The completeness relations of the squeezed states are exploited in order to tackle the quantisation and semiclassical analysis of a constrained position dependent mass model with harmonic potential. The effects of the squ…
Collective many-body dynamics for time-dependent quantum Hamiltonian functions is investigated for a dynamical system that exhibits multiple degrees of freedom, in this case a combined (Paul and Penning) trap. Quantum stability is characterized by a discrete quasienergy spectrum, while the quasienergy states are symplectic coherent states. We introduce the generators of the Lie algebra of the symplectic group ${\cal {SL}}(2, \mathbb R)$, which we use to build the coherent states (CS) associated to the system under investigation. The trapped ion is treated as a harmonic oscillator (HO) to which…
Generalized $ \left\{ h (1) \oplus h(1) \right\} \uplus u(2) $ commensurate anisotropic Hamiltoninan and ladder operators; energy spectrum, eigenstates and associated coherent and squeezed states
Partial transpose is an important operation for quantifying the entanglement, here we study the (partial) transpose of any single (two-mode) operators. Using the Fock-basis expansion, it is found that the transposed operator of an arbitrary operator can be obtained by replacement of a^{†}(a) by a(a^{†}) instead of c-number within normal ordering form. The transpose of displacement operator and Wigner operator are studied, from which the relation of Wigner function, characteristics function and average values such as covariance matrix are constructed between density operator and transposed dens…
The two-mode quantum Rabi model with bilinear coupling is studied using extended squeezed states. We derive $G$-functions for each Bargmann index $q$% . They share a common structure with the $G$-function of the one-photon and two-photon quantum Rabi models. The regular spectrum is given by zeros of the $G$-function while the conditions for the presence of doubly degenerate (exceptional) eigenvalues are obtained in closed form through the lifting property. The simple singularity structure of the $G$-function allows to draw conclusions about the distribution of eigenvalues along the real axis a…
We theoretically investigate the implementation of the two-mode squeezing operator in circuit quantum electrodynamics. Inspired by a previous scheme for optical cavities [Phys. Rev. A $\textbf{73}$, 043803(2006)], we employ a superconducting qubit coupled to two nondegenerate quantum modes and use a driving field on the qubit to adequately control the resonator-qubit interaction. Based on the generation of two-mode squeezed vacuum states, firstly we analyze the validity of our model in the ideal situation and then we investigate the influence of the dissipation mechanisms on the generation of …

Terahertz (THz)-bandwidth continuous-wave (CW) squeezed light is essential for integrating quantum processors with time-domain multiplexing (TDM) by using optical delay line interferometers. Here, we utilize a single-pass optical parametric amplifier (OPA) based on a single-spatial-mode periodically poled ZnO:LiNbO3 waveguide, which is directly bonded onto a LiTaO3 substrate. The single-pass OPA allows THz bandwidth, and the absence of higher-order spatial modes in the single-spatial-mode structure helps to avoid degradation of squeezing. In addition, the directly bonded ZnO-doped waveguide ha…
We study spectral properties of quantum radiation of ultimately short duration. In particular, we introduce a continuous multimode squeezing operator for the description of subcycle pulses of entangled photons generated by a coherent-field driving in a thin nonlinear crystal with second order susceptibility. We find the ultrabroadband spectra of the emitted quantum radiation perturbatively in the strength of the driving field. These spectra can be related to the spectra expected in an Unruh-Davies experiment with a finite time of acceleration. In the time domain, we describe the corresponding …
The fundamental properties of recently introduced stretched coherent states are investigated. It has been shown that stretched coherent states retain the fundamental properties of standard coherent states and generalize the resolution of unity, or completeness condition, and the probability distribution that $n$ photons are in a stretched coherent state. The stretched displacement and stretched squeezing operators are introduced and the multiplication law for stretched displacement operator is established. The results of the action of the stretched displacement and stretched squeezing operator…
