We give an entanglement assisted scheme for quantum key distribution.
The scheme requires the maximally entangled 2-qubit state but does not require any quantum storage. The scheme is unconditionally secure under whatever Eve's attack.
Given the symmetric noisy channel with uncorrelated noise, our scheme can tolerate the bit error rate up to
26% in the 4-state case and 30% in the
6-state respectively, respectively. These values are higher than those of all currently known two-level-state schemes without using a quantum storage.
We introduce a private quantum money scheme with the note verification procedure based on Sampling Matching, a problem in the one-way communication complexity model introduced by Kumar et al.[Nature Communications 10, Article number: 4152]. Our scheme involves a Bank that produces and distributes quantum notes, noteholders who are untrusted and trusted local verifiers of the Bank to whom the holders send their notes in order to carry out transactions. The key aspects of our money scheme include: note verification procedure requiring a single round classical interaction between the local verifi…
Currently used digital signatures based on asymmetric cryptography will be vulnerable to quantum computers running Shor's algorithm. In this work, we propose a new quantum-assisted digital signature protocol based on symmetric keys generated by QKD, that allows signing and verifying messages in a simple way implementing an integration of currently available classical and quantum technologies. The protocol is described for a three-user scenario composed of one sender and two receivers. In contrast to previous schemes, it is independent of the message length. The security of the protocol has bee…
We demonstrate a phase-selective and colorless quantum receiver assisted by a silicon-on-insulator microring, enabling a low 1.3% QBER at 5.3kb/s secure-key rate. No penalty incurs compared to a delay interferometer. BiCMOS 3D-integration is proven feasible.
We propose an all-optical scheme to control the photon statistics using hybrid quantum plasmonic system. With the aid of dressed states assisted quantum interference effects, it is shown that the photon correlations of a signal field can be continuously modulated from bunching to antibunching under the control of a pump field. Apart from the exact multimode model, a single-mode model and an analytical treatment are also provided to help us identify the roles of multimode coupling and quantum interference between probability amplitudes. The proposed scheme, in contrast to the cavity quantum ele…
Non-Gaussian operations on two mode squeezed vacuum states (TMSV) in continuous variable measurement device independent quantum key distribution (CV-MDI-QKD) protocols have been shown to effectively increase the total transmission distances drastically. In this paper we show that photon subtraction on a two mode squeezed coherent (PSTMSC) state can further improve the transmission distances remarkably. To that end we also provide a generalized covariance matrix corresponding to PSTMSC, which has not been attempted before. We show that coherence, defined as the amount of displacement of vacuum …
We present an efficient proposal for error-rejecting quantum computing with quantum dots (QD) embedded in single-sided optical microcavities based on the interface between the circularly polarized photon and QDs. An almost unity fidelity of the quantum entangling gate (EG) can be implemented with a detectable error that leads to a recycling EG procedure, which improves further the efficiency of our proposal along with the robustness to the errors involved in imperfect input-output processes. Meanwhile, we discuss the performance of our proposal for the EG on two solid-state spins with currentl…
We consider the distribution of high-dimensional entangled states to multiple parties via noisy channels and the subsequent probabilistic conversion of these states to desired target states using stochastic local operations and classical communication. We show that such state-conversion protocols can be enhanced by embedded channel-estimation routines at no additional cost in terms of the number of copies of the distributed states. The defining characteristic of our strategy is the use of those copies for which the conversion was unsuccessful for the estimation of the noise, thus allowing one …
Qutrits (i.e., three-level quantum systems) can be used to achieve many quantum information and communication tasks due to their large Hilbert spaces. In this work, we propose a scheme to transfer an unknown quantum state between two flux qutrits coupled to two superconducting coplanar waveguide resonators. The quantum state transfer can be deterministically achieved without measurements. Because resonator photons are virtually excited during the operation time, the decoherences caused by the resonator decay and the unwanted inter-resonator crosstalk are greatly suppressed. Moreover, our appro…
This article presents an analysis of the extent to which local causal models or local realistic models of quantum theory (QT), including quantum field theory (QFT), are theoretically possible and practically feasible in light of the present state of these theories. Quantum physicists consider Bells famous inequality and its violation in experiments to be a strong indication that local realistic or local causal models of QT are not possible and that quantum theory as a whole is therefore not a local realistic or local causal theory. Based on a proposed definition of a "formal causal model" for …
Hybrid quantum gates hold great promise for quantum information processing since they preserve the advantages of different quantum systems. Here we present compact quantum circuits to deterministically implement controlled-NOT, Toffoli, and Fredkin gates between a flying photon qubit and diamond nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers assisted by microcavities. The target qubits of these universal quantum gates are encoded on the spins of the electrons associated with the diamond NV centers and they have long coherence time for storing information, and the control qubit is encoded on the polarizations o…
Multiparticle entanglement is of great significance for quantum metrology and quantum information processing. We here present an efficient scheme to generate stable multiparticle entanglement in a solid state setup, where an array of silicon-vacancy centers are embedded in a quasi-one-dimensional acoustic diamond waveguide. In this scheme, the continuum of phonon modes induces a controllable dissipative coupling among the SiV centers. We show that, by an appropriate choice of the distance between the SiV centers, the dipole-dipole interactions can be switched off due to destructive interferenc…
Quantum metrology overcomes standard precision limits and plays a central role in science and technology. Practically it is vulnerable to imperfections such as decoherence. Here, we demonstrate quantum metrology for noisy channels such that entanglement with ancillary qubits enhances the quantum Fisher information for phase estimation but not otherwise. Our photonic experiment covers a range of noise for various types of channels, including for two randomly alternating channels such that assisted entanglement fails for each noisy channel individually. We have simulated noisy channels by implem…
Encoding qubits in multiple degrees of freedom (DOFs) of a quantum system allows less-decoherence quantum information processing with much less quantum resources. We present a compact and scalable quantum circuit to determinately implement a hyper-parallel controlled-controlled-phase-flip (hyper-$\rm{C^2PF}$) gate on a three-photon system in both the polarization and spatial DOFs. In contrast with the one with many qubits encoding in one DOF only, our hyper-$\rm{C^2PF}$ gate operating two independent $\rm{C^2PF}$ gates on a three-photon system with less decoherence, and reduces the quantum res…
We present two deterministic schemes for constructing a CNOT gate and a Toffoli gate on photon-atom and photon-atom-atom hybrid quantum systems assisted by bad cavities, respectively. They are achieved by cavity-assisted photon scattering and work in the intermediate coupling region with bad cavities, which relaxes the difficulty of their implementation in experiment. Also, bad cavities are feasible for fast quantum operations and reading out information. Compared with previous works, our schemes do not need any auxiliary qubits and measurements. Moreover, the schematic setups for these gates …
The quantum spin states of atomic ensemble are of special interesting for both fundamental studies and precision measurement applications. Here, we propose a scheme to prepare collective quantum states of an atomic ensemble placed in an optical cavity via homodyne measurement of probing light field. The effective interactions of atoms mediated by photons are enhanced by the optical cavity, and the output probe light could also be entangled with the collective spin states. By selectively measuring the quadrature of output light, we can prepare various quantum states, including superposition sta…
The memory effects in non-Markovian quantum dynamics can induce the revival of quantum coherence, which is believed to provide important physical resources for quantum information processing (QIP). However, no real quantum algorithms have been demonstrated with the help of such memory effects. Here, we experimentally implemented a non-Markovianity-assisted highfidelity refined Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm (RDJA) with a solid spin in diamond. The memory effects can induce pronounced nonmonotonic variations in the RDJA results, which were confirmed to follow a non-Markovian quantum process by measuri…

Continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD) offers an approach to achieve a potential high secret key rate (SKR) in metropolitan areas. There are several challenges in developing a practical CV-QKD system from the laboratory to the real world. One of the most significant points is that it is really hard to adapt different practical optical fiber conditions for CV-QKD systems with unified hardware. Thus, how to improve the performance of practical CV-QKD systems in the field without modification of the hardware is very important. Here, a systematic optimization method, combining the m…

Simulation of a quantum many-body system at finite temperatures is crucially important but quite challenging. Here we present an experimentally feasible quantum algorithm assisted with continuous-variable for simulating quantum systems at finite temperatures. Our algorithm has a time complexity scaling polynomially with the inverse temperature and the desired accuracy. We demonstrate the quantum algorithm by simulating finite temperature phase diagram of the Kitaev model. It is found that the important crossover phase diagram of the Kitaev ring can be accurately simulated by a quantum computer…
Quantum error-correcting codes are used to protect quantum information from decoherence. A raw state is mapped, by an encoding circuit, to a codeword so that the most likely quantum errors from a noisy quantum channel can be removed after a decoding process. A good encoding circuit should have some desired features, such as low depth, few gates, and so on. In this paper, we show how to practically implement an encoding circuit of gate complexity $O(n(n-k+c)/\log n)$ for an $[[n,k;c]]$ quantum stabilizer code with the help of $c$ pairs of maximally-entangled states. For the special case of an $…
Quantum linear system algorithms (QLSAs) have the potential to speed up algorithms that rely on solving linear systems. Interior Point Methods (IPMs) yield a fundamental family of polynomial-time algorithms for solving optimization problems. IPMs solve a Newton linear system at each iteration to find the search direction, and thus QLSAs can potentially speed up IPMs. Due to the noise in contemporary quantum computers, such quantum-assisted IPM (QIPM) only allows an inexact solution for the Newton linear system. Typically, an inexact search direction leads to an infeasible solution. In our work…
We perform a theoretical study on quantum correlations in an optomechanical system where the mechanical mirror is perturbatively coupled to an auxiliary qubit. In our study, we consider logarithmic negativity to quantify the degree of stationary entanglement between the cavity field and mechanical mirror, and, Gaussian quantum discord as an witness of the quantumness of the correlation beyond entanglement. Utilizing experimentally feasible parameters, we show that both entanglement and quantum discord enhance significantly with increase in mirror-qubit coupling. Moreover, we find that in prese…

We propose a method for optical interferometry in telescope arrays assisted by quantum networks. In our approach, the quantum state of incoming photons along with an arrival time index is stored in a binary qubit code at each receiver. Nonlocal retrieval of the quantum state via entanglement-assisted parity checks at the expected photon arrival rate allows for direct extraction of the phase difference, effectively circumventing transmission losses between nodes. Compared to prior proposals, our scheme (based on efficient quantum data compression) offers an exponential decrease in required enta…
The state of a quantum system acquires a phase factor, called the geometric phase, when taken around a closed trajectory in the parameter space, which depends only on the geometry of the parameter space. Due to its sensitive nature, the geometric phase is instrumental in capturing weak effects such as the acceleration-induced non-inertial quantum field theoretic effects. In this paper, we study the geometric phase response of a circularly rotating detector inside an electromagnetic cavity. Using the cavity, the non-inertial contribution to the geometric phase can be isolated from or strengthen…
Disorder in condensed matter and atomic physics is responsible for a great variety of fascinating quantum phenomena, which are still challenging for understanding, not to mention the relevant dynamical control. Here we introduce proof of the concept and analyze neural network-based machine learning algorithm for achieving feasible high-fidelity quantum control of a particle in random environment. To explicitly demonstrate its capabilities, we show that convolutional neural networks are able to solve this problem as they can recognize the disorder and, by supervised learning, further produce th…
Creation of entangled states of quantum systems with low decoherence rates is a cornerstone in practical implementation of quantum computations. Processes of separate dephasing in each qubit in experimentally feasible systems is commonly accepted to destroy entanglement. In this work, we consider a system of two strongly coupled qubits that interact with dephasing reservoirs. We demonstrate that interaction with dephasing reservoirs can contribute to the formation of a long-lived mixed entangled state with nonzero concurrence. The weight of the subradiant state in this mixed state tends toward…
Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) methods are the gold standard for studying equilibrium properties of quantum many-body systems -- their phase transitions, ground and thermal state properties. However, in many interesting situations QMC methods are faced with a sign problem, causing the severe limitation of an exponential increase in the sampling complexity and hence the run-time of the QMC algorithm. In this work, we develop a systematic, generally applicable, and practically feasible methodology for easing the sign problem by efficiently computable basis changes and use it to rigorously assess the …
