An asymptotic approach for a Schroedinger type equation with a non selfadjoint slowly varying Hamiltonian of a special type is developed. The Hamiltonian is assumed to be the result of a small perturbation of an operator with a twofold degeneracy (turning) point, which can be diagonalized at this point. On Galilean invariance and nonlinearity in electrodynamics and quantum mechanics

Recent experimental results on slow light heighten interest in nonlinear Maxwell theories. We obtain Galilei covariant equations for electromagnetism by allowing special nonlinearities in the constitutive equations only, keeping Maxwell's equations unchanged. Combining these with linear or nonlinear Schroedinger equations, e.g. as proposed by Doebner and Goldin, yields a Galilean quantum electrodynamics.

Photon correlations from ultra-strong optical nonlinearities

We study the full field and frequency filtered output photon statistics of a resonator in thermal equilibrium with a bath and containing an arbitrarily large quartic nonlinearity. According to the general theory of photodetection, we derive general input-output relations valid for the ultra-anharmonic regime, where the nonlinearity becomes comparable to the energy of the resonator, and show how the emission properties are modified as compared to the generally assumed simple anharmonic regime. A particular class of which comprises "Hamiltonian CA" with equations of motion that bear similarities to Hamilton's equations, while they present discrete updating rules. Quantum transport in a class of nonlinear extensions of the Rudner-Levitov model is numerically studied in this paper. We show that the quantization of the mean displacement, which embodies the quantum coherence and the topological characteristics of the model, is markedly modified by nonlinearities. Peculiar effects such as a "trivial-nontrivial" transition and unidirectional long-range quantum transport are observed.
