Jahn-Teller Anharmonic Coupling for an Octahedral System

The coupling between doubly degenerate electronic states and doubly degenerate vibrations is analysed for an octahedral system on the basis of the introduction of an anharmonic Morse potential for the vibronic part. The vibrations are described by anharmonic coherent states and their linear coupling with the electronic states is considered. The matrix elements of the vibronic interaction are builded and the energy levels corresponding to the interaction Hamiltonian are derived.

Ansatz for the Jahn-Teller triplet instability

A threefold degenerate electronic state is Jahn-Teller unstable with respect to symmetry lowering distortions, which transform as the five quadrupolar modes. The solution of the corresponding vibronic Hamiltonian is constructed using the analytical method introduced by Bargmann, as an alternative to existing group-theoretical methods based on coefficients of fractional parentage. It involves the construction of an Ansatz which incorporates SO(5) to SO(3) symmetry breaking. The resulting Jahn-Teller equations are derived, and solved in terms of radial polynomials and Gegenbauer functions.

Symmetries of the Jahn Teller System and their Solvability

We present a method of obtaining the quasi exact solution of the Jahn Teller systems in the framework of osp(2,2) superalgebra. The hamiltonian have been solved in the Bargmann-Fock space by obtaining an expression as linear and bilinear combinations of the generators of osp(2,2). In particulare, we have discussed quasi exact solvability of Exe Jahn-Teller Hamiltonian.

A New Approach to Analyse $H\otimes (2h\oplus g)$ Jahn-Teller System for $C_{60}$

The Jahn-Teller effect and spin--orbit coupling: friends or foes?

The Jahn-Teller effect is one of the most fundamental phenomena important not only for physics, but also for chemistry and material science. Solving the Jahn-Teller problem and taking into account strong electron correlations we show that quantum entanglement of the spin and orbital degrees of freedom via spin--orbit coupling strongly affects this effect. Pseudo-Jahn-Teller interaction among electronic resonant states of H3

We study the electronic resonant states of H3 with energies above the potential energy surface of the H3+ ground state. These resonant states are important for the dissociative recombination of H3+ at higher collision energies, and previous studies have indicated that these resonant states exhibit a triple intersection. Quasi-exact-solution of the Generalized Exe Jahn-Teller Hamiltonian

We consider the solution of a generalized Exe Jahn-Teller Hamiltonian in the context of quasi-exactly solvable spectral problems. This Hamiltonian is expressed in terms of the generators of the osp(2,2) Lie algebra. Analytical expressions are obtained for eigenstates and eigenvalues. The solutions lead to a number of earlier results discussed in the literature. However, our approach renders a new understanding of ``exact isolated'' solutions.

Two-Frequency Jahn-Teller Systems in Circuit QED

We investigate the simulation of Jahn-Teller models with two non-degenerate vibrational modes using a circuit QED architecture. Typical Jahn-Teller systems are anisotropic and require at least a two-frequency description. The proposed simulator consists of two superconducting lumped-element resonators interacting with a common flux qubit in the ultrastrong coupling regime. Collective Modes in the Cooperative Jahn-Teller Model: Path Integral Approach

We discuss analytical approximations to the ground-state phase diagram and the elementary excitations of the cooperative Jahn-Teller model describing strongly correlated spin-boson system on a lattice in various quantum optical systems. Based on the mean-field theory approach we show that the system exhibits quantum magnetic structural phase transition which leads to magnetic ordering of the spins and formation of the bosonic condensates. We determine existing of one gapless Goldstone mode and two gapped amplitude modes inside the symmetry-broken phase.

Quantum Simulation of Cooperative Jahn-Teller Systems with Linear Ion Crystals

The Jahn-Teller effect explains distortions and non-degenerate energy levels in molecular and solid-state physics via a coupling of effective spins to collective bosons. Here we propose and theoretically analyze the quantum simulation of a many-body Jahn-Teller model with linear ion crystals subjected to magnetic field gradients. We show that the system undergoes a quantum magnetic structural phase transition which leads to a reordering of particle positions and the formation of a spin-phonon quasi-condensate in mesoscopic ion chains.

We consider the nonlinear effects in Jahn-Teller system of two coupled resonators interacting simultaneously with flux qubit using Circuit QED. Entanglement sharing in $E\otimesε$ Jahn-Teller model in the presence of a magnetic field

We discuss the ground state entanglement of the $E\otimesε$ Jahn-Teller model in the presence of a strong transverse magnetic field as a function of the vibronic coupling strength. A complete characterization is given of the phenomenon of entanglement sharing in a system composed by a qubit coupled to two bosonic modes. Using the residual $I$-tangle, we find that three-partite entanglement is significantly present in the system in the parameter region near the bifurcation point of the corresponding classical model.

Jahn-Teller systems from a cavity QED perspective

Jahn-Teller systems and the Jahn-Teller effect are discussed in terms of cavity QED models. By expressing the field modes in a quadrature representation, it is shown that certain setups of a two-level system interacting with a bimodal cavity is described by the Jahn-Teller $E\timesε$ Hamiltonian. Simulation of Jahn-Teller-Dicke Magnetic Structural Phase Transition with Trapped Ions

We study theoretically the collective E$\otimes$e Jahn-Teller-Dicke distortion in a system of trapped ions. We focus in the limit of infinite range interactions in which an ensemble of effective spins interacts with two collective vibrational modes with U(1) symmetric couplings. Observation of the dynamic Jahn-Teller effect in the excited states of nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond

The optical transition linewidth and emission polarization of single nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers are measured from 5 K to room temperature. Inter-excited state population relaxation is shown to broaden the zero-phonon line and both the relaxation and linewidth are found to follow a T^5 dependence for T up to 100 K. This dependence indicates that the dynamic Jahn-Teller effect is the dominant dephasing mechanism for the NV optical transitions at low temperatures.

Jahn-Teller induced Berry phase in spin-orbit coupled Bose-Einstein condensates

We demonstrate that Berry phases may greatly affect the dynamics of spin-orbit coupled Bose-Einstein condensates. The effective model Hamiltonian under consideration is shown to be equivalent to the Exe Jahn-Teller model first introduced in molecular physics. The corresponding conical intersection is identified and the Berry phase acquired for a wave packet encircling the intersection studied.
