Within the framework of QED theory at finite temperature the thermal radiative corrections to spontaneous one-photon transition rates in hydrogen atom are investigated. The radiative one-loop self-energy corrections are described in the thermal case. Closed analytical expressions are derived and their numerical calculations for the spontaneous decay rate of the $ 2p $ state are carried out. Dominance of thermal radiative corrections to spontaneous Ly$_α $ decay rate over ordinary induced transition rate up to temperatures $ T < 6000 $ K is demonstrated.

We discuss the propagation of hydrogen atoms in static electric and magnetic fields in a longitudinal atomic beam spin echo (lABSE) apparatus. Depending on the choice of the external fields the atoms may acquire both dynamical and geometrical quantum mechanical phases. The results and main steps of an analytic calculation of radiative-recoil corrections of order $α(Zα)^5(m/M)m$ to the Lamb shift in hydrogen are presented. The calculations are performed in the infrared safe Yennie gauge. The discrepancy between two previous numerical calculations of these corrections existing in the literature is resolved. Our new result eliminates the largest source of the theoretical uncertainty in the magnitude of the deuterium-hydrogen isotope shift.

We apply the non-linear Euler-Heisenberg theory to calculate the electric field inside the hydrogen atom. We will demonstrate that the electric field calculated in the Euler-Heisenberg theory can be much smaller than the corresponding field emerging from the Maxwellian theory. In the hydrogen atom this happens only at very small distances. This effect reduces the large electric field inside the hydrogen atom calculated from the electromagnetic form-factors via the Maxwell equations. The energy content of the field is below the pair production threshold.

The cascade calculations have been done with an updated version of the extended standard cascade model that computes the evolution in the kinetic energy from the beginning of the cascade.
