Expressions for frictional and conservative force combinations within the dissipative Lagrange-Hamilton formalism

Dissipative Lagrangians and Hamiltonians having Coulomb, viscous and quadratic damping,together with gravitational and elastic terms are presented for a formalism that preserves the Hamiltonian as a constant of the motion. Their derivations are also shown. The resulting L's and H's may prove useful in exploring new types of damped quantum systems.

Classical Lagrange formalism for non-conservative dynamical systems

The classical Lagrange formalism is generalized to the case of arbitrary stationary (but not necessarily conservative) dynamical systems. It is shown that the equations of motion for such systems can be derived in the standard ways from the Lagrange functions which are linear in system velocities, have no explicit dependence on time, and do not require the introduction of any additional degrees of freedom. Analytical Dynamics Development of the Canonical Equations

It is most common to construct the Hamiltonian function and Hamilton's canonical equations through a Legendre transformation of the Lagrangean function or through the central equation. These common perspectives, however, seem abstract and detached from classical analytical dynamics. A new and different approach is presented in which the Hamiltonian function is created as one investigates d'Alembert's equation of motion.
