Radiation Reaction for a Charged Brownian Particle

As it is known a model of a charged particle with finite size is a good tool to consider the effects of self- action and backreaction, caused by electromagnetic radiation. In this work the "size" of a charged particle is induced by its stochastic Brownian vibration. Appropriate equation of particle's motion with radiation force is derived. It is shown that the solutions of this equation correctly describe the effects of radiation reaction.

Charged Brown Particle: The More Retardation is - the Lower is the Effective Temperature

The Brownian motion of a charged particle with finite size (described by Sommerfeld model) is considered. It is found out that due to radiation reaction: (1) the effective temperature of such particle is lower, and (2) the acceleration of the average velocity is smaller, than that for classical Brown particle without electric charge.

Exact solution of the EM radiation-reaction problem for classical finite-size and Lorentzian charged particles

An exact solution is given to the classical electromagnetic (EM) radiation-reaction (RR) problem, originally posed by Lorentz. Radiation from a charged particle and radiation reaction -- revisited

We study the electromagnetic fields of an arbitrarily moving charged particle and the radiation reaction on the charged particle using a novel approach. We first show that the fields of an arbitrarily moving charged particle in an inertial frame can be related in a simple manner to the fields of a uniformly accelerated charged particle in its rest frame. Since the latter field is static and easily obtainable, it is possible to derive the fields of an arbitrarily moving charged particle by a coordinate transformation. Radiation Reaction in Classical Electrodynamics: the Case of Rotating Charged Sphere

In classical electrodynamics for rotating with variable angular velocity charged rigid sphere are found: the exact values of electromagnetic fields, the flux of radiating energy and the exact integral equation of rotation including the terms of self-rotation. The analysis of this eq. shows that on one hand, there is no "runaway" solutions, peculiar to the Lorentz-Dirac eq. of radiating point particle, on the other hand, there appear new problems, among them is the nonexistence of solution for some external moments of force.

Radiation reaction for a massless charged particle

We derive effective equations of motion for a massless charged particle coupled to the dynamical electromagnetic field having regard to the radiation back reaction. It is shown that unlike the massive case not all the divergences resulting from the self-action of the particle are Lagrangian, i.e. can be canceled out by adding appropriate counterterms to the original action. Tracking the radiation reaction energy when charged bodies accelerate

We address some questions related to radiation and energy conservation in classical electromagnetism. We first treat the well-known problem of energy accounting during radiation from a uniformly accelerating particle. We present and numerically solve a modified form of the equation of motion for a charged particle under the influence of an external force, taking into account the radiation reaction. This covariant equation is integrodifferential, as Dirac-Röhrlich's, but has several technical improvements. Radiation Reaction as a Non-conservative Force

We study a system of a finite size charged particle interacting with radiation field by exploiting the Hamilton's principle for non-conservative system introduced recently by Galley[1]. The said formulation leads to the equation of motion of the charged particle that turns out to be the same as obtained by Jackson[3].
