The Ramanujan property for regular cubical complexes

This paper considers a higher-dimensional generalization of the notion of Ramanujan graphs, defined by Lubotzky, Phillips, and Sarnak. Specifically the Ramanujan property is studied for cubical complexes which are uniformized by an ordered product of regular trees. We construct explicit arithmetic examples using quaternion algebras over totally real fields. Here we reduce the Ramanujan property to special cases of the Ramanujan-Petersson conjecture for holomorphic Hilbert modular forms, many of which are known.

Infinite series of quaternionic 1-vertex cube complexes, the doubling construction, and explicit cubical Ramanujan complexes

We construct vertex transitive lattices on products of trees of arbitrary dimension $d \geq 1$ based on quaternion algebras over global fields with exactly two ramified places. Starting from arithmetic examples, we find non-residually finite groups generalizing earlier results of Wise, Burger and Mozes to higher dimension. We make effective use of the combinatorial language of cubical sets and the doubling construction generalized to arbitrary dimension. This paper brings the main definitions and results from "The Ramanujan Property for Simplicial Complexes" [arXiv:1605.02664]. No proofs are given. From Ramanujan Graphs to Ramanujan Complexes

Ramanujan graphs are graphs whose spectrum is bounded optimally. Such graphs have found numerous applications in combinatorics and computer science. In recent years, a high dimensional theory has emerged. In this paper these developments are surveyed. After explaining their connection to the Ramanujan conjecture we will present some old and new results with an emphasis on random walks on these discrete objects and on the Euclidean spheres. The latter lead to "golden gates" which are of importance in quantum computation.

Expander graphs in general, and Ramanujan graphs in particular, have been of great interest in the last three decades with many applications in computer science, combinatorics and even pure mathematics. Let $G$ be a topological group acting on a simplicial complex $\mathcal{X}$ satisfying some mild assumptions. For example, consider a $k$-regular tree and its automorphism group, or more generally, a regular affine Bruhat-Tits building and its automorphism group. Ramanujan complexes and Golden Gates in PU(3)

In a seminal series of papers from the 80's, Lubotzky, Phillips and Sarnak applied the Ramanujan-Petersson Conjecture for $GL_{2}$ (Deligne's theorem), to a special family of arithmetic lattices, which act simply-transitively on the Bruhat-Tits trees associated with $SL_{2}(\mathbb{Q}_{p})$.
