A note on the localization of J-groups

Let $\widetilde{JO}(X)=\widetilde{KO}(X)/TO(X)$ be the J-group of a connected finite CW complex X. We Obtain two computable formulas of $TO(X)_{(p)}$, the localization of $TO(X)$ at a prime p. Then we show how to use these two formulas of $TO(X)_{(p)}$ to find the J-orders of elements of $\widetilde{KO}(CP^m)$, at least the 2 and 3 primary factors of the canonical generators of $\widetilde{JO}(CP^m).$ Here $CP^m$ is the complex projective space.

A note on localizations of mapping spaces

Vanishing of the KNil groups: localization methods

The aim of this article is to introduce Vogel's localization theorem for classes of D-complexes: this generalization of Waldhausen's localization theorem is especially useful and powerful in that it gives an explicit and computable description of the local objects. Non-simple localizations of finite simple groups

Often a localization functor (in the category of groups) sends a finite simple group to another finite simple group. We study when such a localization also induces a localization between the automorphism groups and between the universal central extensions. As a consequence we exhibit many examples of localizations of finite simple groups which are not simple.

We extend the standard localization theory for function and section spaces due to Hilton-Mislin-Roitberg and Moller outside the CW category to the case of compact metric domain in the presence of a grouplike structure. Note on a theorem of Bousfield and Friedlander

On localizations of quasi-simple groups with given countable center

A group homomorphism $i: H \to G$ is a localization of $H$ if for every homomorphism $φ: H\rightarrow G$ there exists a unique endomorphism $ψ: G\rightarrow G$, such that $i ψ=φ$ (maps are acting on the right). Localisation and Completion with an addendum on the use of Brown-Peterson homology in stable homotopy

These are notes, by Z. Fiedorowicz, from lectures given by J. Frank Adams at the University of Chicago in spring of 1973. Right exact localizations of groups

We introduce several classes of localizations (idempotent monads) on the category of groups and study their properties and relations. The most interesting class for us is the class of localizations which coincide with their zero derived functors. We call them right exact (in the sense of Keune). Finite simple groups and localization

The purpose of this paper is to explore the concept of localization, which comes from homotopy theory, in the context of finite simple groups. We give an easy criterion for a finite simple group to be a localization of some simple subgroup and we apply it in various cases. Iterating this process allows us to connect many simple groups by a sequence of localizations. Localizations of Morava E-theory and deformations of formal groups

We study the relationship between the transchromatic localizations of Morava $E$-theory, $L_{K(n-1)}E_n$, and formal groups. In particular, we show that the coefficient ring $π_0L_{K(n-1)}E_n$ has a modular interpretation, representing deformations of formal groups with certain extra structure, and derive similar descriptions of the cooperations algebra and $E_{n-1}$-homology of this spectrum. As an application, we show that $L_{K(1)}E_2$ has exotic $\mathcal{E}_\infty$ structures not obtained by $K(1)$-localizing the $\mathcal{E}_\infty$ ring $E_2$.

Note on restriction maps of Chow rings to Weyl group invariants

Let G be an algebraic group corresponding to a compact Lie group. We study the restiction map from the Chow ring CH(BG) to the Wely group invariants CH(BT)^W. For example, we note that if G is simply connect and H(G) has torsion, then the restriction map is always not surjective.
