Admissible Skein Modules

In this paper we introduce the notion of admissible skein modules associated to an ideal in a pivotal category. We explain how these modules are generalizations of the Kauffman skein algebra and how they relate to renormalized quantum invariants coming from non-semisimple categories.

Skein theories for virtual tangles

In this paper, we use skein-theoretic techniques to classify all virtual knot polynomials and trivalent graph invariants with certain smallness conditions. The first half of the paper classifies all virtual knot polynomials giving non-trivial invariants strictly smaller than the one given by the Higman-Sims spin model. In particular, we exhibit a family of skein theories coming from $\text{Rep}(O(2))$ with an interesting braiding. The Skein Relation for the (G_2,V)-Link Invariant

Pulling back the weight system associated with the exceptional Lie algebra G_2 by a modification of the universal Vassiliev-Kontsevich invariant yields a link invariant; extending it to 3-nets, we derive a recursive algorithm for its evaluation.

Dimension and Trace of the Kauffman Bracket Skein Algebra

Let $F$ be a finite type surface and $ζ$ a complex root of unity. The Kauffman bracket skein algebra $K_ζ(F)$ is an important object in both classical and quantum topology as it has relations to the character variety, the Teichmüller space, the Jones polynomial, and the Witten-Reshetikhin-Turaev Topological Quantum Field Theories. We compute the rank and trace of $K_ζ(F)$ over its center, and we extend a theorem of Frohman and Kania-Bartoszynska which says the skein algebra has a splitting coming from two pants decompositions of $F$.

Skein modules

We describe in this chapter (Chapter IX) the idea of building an algebraic topology based on knots (or more generally on the position of embedded objects). That is, our basic building blocks are considered up to ambient isotopy (not homotopy or homology). For example, one should start from knots in 3-manifolds, surfaces in 4-manifolds, etc. However our theory is, until now, developed only in the case of links in 3-manifolds, with only a glance towards 4-manifolds.
