In this paper we study the Hecke algebra associated with a complex reflection group W. We discuss some properties of the Galois group of the splitting field of this algebra, and study its action on the so-called fake degrees of W. The methods we use to study the Hecke algebra are based on the construction of representations of this algebra as monodromy of equations of Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov type.
We compute all the spin fake degrees for the exceptional Weyl groups, which are by definition the graded multiplicities of the simple modules of a spin Weyl group in its spin coinvariant algebra. The spin fake degrees are all shown to be palindromic polynomials.
The coinvariant algebra of a Weyl group plays a fundamental role in several areas of mathematics. The fake degrees are the graded multiplicities of the irreducible modules of a Weyl group in its coinvariant algebra, and they were computed by Steinberg, Lusztig and Beynon-Lusztig. In this paper we formulate a notion of spin coinvariant algebra for every Weyl group. Then we compute all the spin fake degrees for each classical Weyl group, which are by definition the graded multiplicities of the simple modules of a spin Weyl group in the spin coinvariant algebra. The spin fake degrees for the exce…
We introduce a notion of elliptic fake degrees for unipotent elliptic representations of a semisimple p-adic group. We conjecture, and verify in some cases, that the relation between the formal degrees of unipotent discrete series representations of a semisimple p-adic group and the elliptic fake degrees is given by the exotic Fourier transform matrix introduced by Lusztig in the study of representations of finite groups of Lie type.
We introduce two new partial orders on the standard Young tableaux of a given partition shape, in analogy with the strong and weak Bruhat orders on permutations. Both posets are ranked by the major index statistic offset by a fixed shift. The existence of such ranked poset structures allows us to classify the realizable major index statistics on standard tableaux of arbitrary straight shape and certain skew shapes. By a theorem of Lusztig--Stanley, this classification can be interpreted as determining which irreducible representations of the symmetric group exist in which homogeneous component…
Basic properties of symplectic reflection algebras over an algebraically closed field k of positive characteristic are laid out. These algebras are always finite modules over their centres, in contrast to the situation in characteristic 0. For the subclass of rational Cherednik algebras, we determine the PI-degree and the Goldie rank, and show that the Azumaya and smooth loci of the centre coincide.
This paper studies three results that describe the structure of the super-coinvariant algebra of pseudo-reflection groups over a field of characteristic $0$. Our most general result determines the top component in total degree, which we prove for all Shephard--Todd groups $G(m, p, n)$ with $m \neq p$ or $m=1$. Our strongest result gives tight bi-degree bounds and is proven for all $G(m, 1, n)$, which includes the Weyl groups of types $A$ and $B$/$C$. For symmetric groups (i.e. type $A$), this provides new evidence for a recent conjecture of Zabrocki related to the Delta Conjecture of Haglund--…
The spin analogues of several classical concepts and results for Hecke algebras are established. A Frobenius type formula is obtained for irreducible characters of the Hecke-Clifford algebra. A precise characterization of the trace functions allows us to define the character table for the algebra. The algebra is endowed with a canonical symmetrizing trace form, with respect to which the spin generic degrees are formulated and shown to coincide with the spin fake degrees. We further provide a characterization of the trace functions and the symmetrizing trace form on the spin Hecke algebra which…
Let G be a finite subgroup of SL(2,C). Let S_N#G^N be the wreath product of G by the symmetric group of degree N, acting symplectically on a complex vector space V of dimension 2N, with symplectic basis {x_i, y_i} i=1,...,N. In this paper we classify all the irreducible representations of S_N#G^N that can be extended to a representation of the associated symplectic reflection algebra H(k,c,N,G) (where k is a complex number and c a class function on the non-trivial elements of G) for non-zero values of k and with trivial action of the generators x_i,y_i\in H(k,c,N,G).
Following the generalization of the notion of families of characters, defined by Lusztig for Weyl groups, to the case of complex reflection groups, thanks to the definition given by Rouquier, we show that the degree and the valuation of the Schur elements (functions A and a) remain constant on the "families" of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of the exceptional complex reflection groups. The same result has already been obtained for the groups of the infinite series and for some special cases of exceptional groups.
Drinfeld orbifold algebras deform skew group algebras in polynomial degree at most one and hence encompass graded Hecke algebras, and in particular symplectic reflection algebras and rational Cherednik algebras. We introduce parametrized families of Drinfeld orbifold algebras for symmetric groups acting on doubled representations that generalize rational Cherednik algebras by deforming in degree one. We characterize rich families of maps recording commutator relations with their linear parts supported only on and only off the identity when the symmetric group acts on the natural permutation re…
We prove the following theorem. Let $G$ be a finite group generated by unitary reflections in a complex Hermitian space $V=\mathbb{C}^\ell$ and let $G'$ be any reflection subgroup of $G$. Let $\mathcal{H}(G)$ be the space of $G$-harmonic polynomials on $V$. There is a degree preserving isomorphism $ξ:\mathcal{H}(G')\otimes\mathcal{H}(G)^{G'}\overset{\sim}{\longrightarrow}\mathcal{H}$ of graded $\mathcal{N}$-modules, where $\mathcal{N}:=N_{\rm{GL}(V)}(G)\cap N_{\rm{GL}(V)}(G')$ and $\mathcal{H}^{G'}$ is the space of $G'$-fixed points of $\mathcal{H}$. This generalises a result of Douglass and D…
Given a rank $n$ irreducible finite reflection group $W$, the $W$-invariant polynomial functions defined in ${\mathbb R}^n$ can be written as polynomials of $n$ algebraically independent homogeneous polynomial functions, $p_1(x),\ldots,p_n(x)$, called basic invariant polynomials. Their degrees are well known and typical of the given group $W$. The polynomial $p_1(x)$ has the lowest degree, equal to 2. It has been proved that it is possible to choose all the other $n-1$ basic invariant polynomials in such a way that they satisfy a certain system of differential equations, including the Laplace …
We study the complex reflection groups G(r,p,n). By considering these groups as subgroups of the wreath products Z_r wr S_n, and by using Clifford theory, we define combinatorial parameters and descent representations of G(r,p,n), previously known for classical Weyl groups. One of these parameters is the flag major index, which also has an important role in the decomposition of these representations into irreducibles. A Carlitz type identity relating the combinatorial parameters with the degrees of the group, is presented.
Classical invariant theory of a complex reflection group $W$ highlights three beautiful structures: -- the $W$-invariant polynomials constitute a polynomial algebra, over which -- the $W$-invariant differential forms with polynomial coefficients constitute an exterior algebra, and -- the relative invariants of any $W$-representation constitute a free module. When $W$ is a duality (or well-generated) group, we give an explicit description of the isotypic component within the differential forms of the irreducible reflection representation. This resolves a conjecture of Armstrong, Rhoades and the…
Let $(V,W)$ be an exceptional spetsial irreducible reflection group $W$ on a complex vector space $V$, that is a group $G_n$ for $n \in \{4, 6, 8, 14, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37\}$ in the Shephard-Todd notation. We describe how to determine some data associated to the corresponding (split) "spets", given complete knowledge of the same data for all proper subspetses (the method is thus inductive). The data determined here is the set Uch$(\mathbb G)$ of "unipotent characters" of $\mathbb G$ and the associated set of Frobenius eigenvalues, and its repartition into fami…
We investigate the cohomology of the Milnor fibre of a reflection arrangement as a module for the group $Γ$ generated by the reflections, together with the cyclic monodromy. Although we succeed completely only for unitary reflection groups of rank two, we establish some general results which relate the isotypic componenents of the monodromy on the cohomology, to the Hodge structure and to the cohomology degree. Using eigenspace theory for reflection groups, we prove some sum formulae for additive functions such as the equivariant weight polynomial and certain polynomials related to the Euler c…
We compute the generic degrees of the Ariki--Koike algebras by first constructing a basis of matrix units in the semisimple case. As a consequence, we also obtain an explicit isomorphism from any semisimple Ariki--Koike algebra to the group algebra of the corresponding complex reflection group.
Using the invariant algebra of the reflection group denoted by $G\_{32}$ in Shephard-Todd classification, we construct three irreducible surfaces in $P^3$ with many singularities: one of them has degree $24$ and contains $1440$ quotient singularities of type $D\_4$.
Let $G\subset\GL(\BC^r)$ be a finite complex reflection group. We show that when $G$ is irreducible, apart from the exception $G=\Sgot_6$, as well as for a large class of non-irreducible groups, any automorphism of $G$ is the product of a central automorphism and of an automorphism which preserves the reflections. We show further that an automorphism which preserves the reflections is the product of an element of $N_{\GL(\BC^r)}(G)$ and of a "Galois" automorphism: we show that $\Gal(K/\BQ)$, where $K$ is the field of definition of $G$, injects into the group of outer automorphisms of $G$, and …
