Boundary Functions for Ideals in Analytic Limit Algebras

We develop a theory of boundary functions for ideals in trivially analytic subalgebras of simple AF C*-algebras with an injective 0-cocycle, a class which includes all full nest algebras. Boundary functions are maps from the spectrum of the diagonal of the analytic subalgebra to itself. The relation between boundary functions and ideal sets is explored and a description is given of meet and join irreducible boundary functions.

Boundary quotients and ideals of Toeplitz C*-algebras of Artin groups

We study the quotients of the Toeplitz C*-algebra of a quasi-lattice ordered group (G,P), which we view as crossed products by a partial actions of G on closed invariant subsets of a totally disconnected compact Hausdorff space, the Nica spectrum of (G,P). Our original motivation and our main examples are drawn from right-angled Artin groups, but many of our results are valid for more general quasi-lattice ordered groups. The Šilov Boundary for Operator Spaces

Motivated by the recent interest in the examination of unital completely positive maps and their effects in C*-theory, we revisit an older result concerning the existence of the Šilov ideal. The direct proof of Hamana's theorem for the existence of an injective envelope for a unital operator subspace X of some B(H) that we provide implies that the Šilov ideal is the intersection of C*(X) with any maximal boundary operator subsystem in B(H). Meet irreducible ideals in direct limit algebras

We study the meet irreducible ideals in certain direct limit algebras, namely the strongly maximal triangular subalgebras of AF C*-algebras. These ideals have a description in terms of the coordinates, or spectrum, that is a natural extension of one description of meet irreducible ideals in the upper triangular matrices. Additional information is available if the limit algebra is an analytic subalgebra of its C*-envelope or if the analytic algebra is trivially analytic with an injective 0-cocycle. Completely meet irreducible ideals are considered, and a distance formula is presented.

Nevanlinna counting functions and pull-back measures on maximal ideal space of $H^\infty$

In this paper we give precise characterizations of the relation between the Nevanlinna counting function and pull-back measure of an analytic self-map of the unit disk near the boundary. We show that it is quite worth considering these two concepts on the maximal ideal space of the bounded analytic functions.

Noncommutative boundaries and the ideal structure of reduced crossed products

A C*-dynamical system is said to have the ideal separation property if every ideal in the corresponding crossed product arises from an invariant ideal in the C*-algebra. Boundary quotients of C*-algebras of right LCM semigroups

We study C*-algebras associated to right LCM semigroups, that is, semigroups which are left cancellative and for which any two principal right ideals are either disjoint or intersect in another principal right ideal. If $P$ is such a semigroup, its C*-algebra admits a natural boundary quotient $\mathcal{Q}(P)$. We show that $\mathcal{Q}(P)$ is isomorphic to the tight C*-algebra of a certain inverse semigroup associated to $P$, and thus is isomorphic to the C*-algebra of an étale groupoid. The noncommutative Choquet boundary III: Operator systems in matrix algebras

We classify operator systems $S\subseteq \mathcal B(H)$ that act on finite dimensional Hilbert spaces by making use of the noncommutative Choquet boundary. S is said to be {\em reduced} when its boundary ideal is 0. In the category of operator systems, that property functions as semisimplicity does in the category of complex Banach algebras.
