We prove a Model Existence Theorem for a fully infinitary logic for metric structures. This result is based on a generalization of the notions of approximate formulas and approximate truth in normed structures introduced by Henson and studied in different forms by Anderson and Fajardo & Keisler. This theorem extends Henson's Compactness Theorem for approximate truth in normed space structures to infinitary formulas.

Infinitary first-order categorical logic

We present a unified categorical treatment of completeness theorems for several classical and intuitionistic infinitary logics with a proposed axiomatization. This provides new completeness theorems and subsumes previous ones by Gödel, Kripke, Beth, Karp, Joyal, Makkai and Fourman/Grayson. As an application we prove, using large cardinals assumptions, the disjunction and existence properties for infinitary intuitionistic first-order logics.

Expressive power of infinitary [0, 1]-valued logics

We consider model-theoretic properties related to the expressive power of three analogues of $L_{ω_1, ω}$ for metric structures. We give an example showing that one of these infinitary logics is strictly more expressive than the other two, but also show that all three have the same elementary equivalence relation for complete separable metric structures. Which Classes of Structures Are Both Pseudo-elementary and Definable by an Infinitary Sentence?

When classes of structures are not first-order definable, we might still try to find a nice description. There are two common ways for doing this. One is to expand the language, leading to notions of pseudo-elementary classes, and the other is to allow infinite conjuncts and disjuncts. In this paper we examine the intersection. Namely, we address the question: Which classes of structures are both pseudo-elementary and $\mathcal{L}_{ω_1 ω}$-elementary? We find that these are exactly the classes that can be defined by an infinitary formula that has no infinitary disjunctions.

Positive model theory and infinitary logic

We study the basic properties of a dual "spectral" topology on positive type spaces of h-inductive theories and its essential connection to infinitary logic. The topology is Hausdorff, has the Baire property, and its compactness characterises positive model completeness; it also has a basis of clopen sets and is described by the formulas of geometric logic. Infinitary generalizations of Deligne's completeness theorem

Given a regular cardinal $κ$ such that $κ^{<κ}=κ$, we study a class of toposes with enough points, the $κ$-separable toposes. Epimorphisms, definability and cardinalities

Generalizing a theorem of Campercholi, we characterize, in syntactic terms, the ranges of epimorphisms in an arbitrary class of similar first-order structures (as opposed to an elementary class). Metric Scott analysis

We develop an analogue of the classical Scott analysis for metric structures and infinitary continuous logic. Among our results are the existence of Scott sentences for metric structures and a version of the Lopez-Escobar theorem. We consider the complexity (in terms of the arithmetical hierarchy) of the various quantifier levels of the diagram of a computably presented metric structure.
