We prove that certain Gibbs measures on subshifts of finite type are nonsingular and ergodic for certain countable equivalence relations, including the orbit relation of the adic transformation (the same as equality after a permutation of finitely many coordinates). The relations we consider are defined by cocycles taking values in groups, including some nonabelian ones. This generalizes (half of) the identification of the invariant ergodic probability measures for the Pascal adic transformation as exactly the Bernoulli measures---a version of de Finetti's Theorem. Generalizing the other half, we characterize the measures on subshifts of finite type that are invariant under both the adic and the shift as the Gibbs measures whose potential functions depend on only a single coordinate. There are connections with and implications for exchangeability, ratio limit theorems for transient Markov chains, interval splitting procedures, `canonical' Gibbs states, and the triviality of remote sigma-fields finer than the usual tail field.
Geometric models and Teichmüller structures have been introduced for the space of smooth expanding circle endomorphisms and for the space of uniformly symmetric circle endomorphisms. The latter one is the completion of the previous one under the Techmüller metric. Moreover, the spaces of geometric models as well as the Teichmüller spaces can be described as the space of Hölder continuous scaling functions and the space of continuous scaling functions on the dual symbolic space. The characterizations of these scaling functions have been also investigated. The Gibbs measure theory and the dual G…
In this note we prove that every weak Gibbs measure for an asymptotically additive sequences is a Gibbs measure for another asymptotically additive sequence. In particular, a weak Gibbs measure for a continuous potential is a Gibbs measure for an asymptotically additive sequence. This allows, for example, to apply recent results on dimension theory of asymptotically additive sequences to study multifractal analysis for weak Gibbs measure for continuous potentials.
We define the notion of sequential Gibbs measures, inspired by on the classical notion of Gibbs measures and recent examples from the study of non-uniform hyperbolic dynamics. Extending previous results of Kempton-Pollicott and Ugalde-Chazottes, we show that the images of one block factor maps of a sequential Gibbs measure are also a sequential Gibbs measure, with the same sequence of Gibbs times. We obtain some estimates on the regularity of the potential of the image measure at almost every point.
One proves the equivalence of a Gibbs measure and a Gibbs conformal measure for a dynamical system (G,X) when G is a countably infinite discrete group acting expansively on a compact ultrametric space X. As an application one proves for any beta-shift, that the unique equilibrium measure for a function of summable variation is a Gibbs measure.
In this paper, we consider which kind of invariant measure on hereditary subshifts is not Gibbs measure. For the hereditary closure of a subshift $(X,S)$, we prove that in some situation, the invariant measure $ν*B_{p,1-p}$ can not be a Gibbs measure where $ν$ is an invariant measure on $(X,S)$. As an application, we show that for some $\B$-free subshifts, the unique equilibrium state $ν_η*B_{p,1-p}$ is not Gibbs measure.
Let (X,T) be a dynamical system, where X is a compact metric space and T a continuous onto map. For weak Gibbs measures we prove large deviations estimates.
We study the asymptotic behaviour of the escape rate of a Gibbs measure supported on a conformal repeller through a small hole. There are additional applications to the convergence of Hausdorff dimension of the survivor set.
We provide a quantification of the uniqueness of Gibbs measure for topologically mixing countable Markov shifts with locally Hölder continuous potentials. Corollaries for speed of convergence for approximation by finite subsystems are also given.
Any Borel probability measure supported on a Cantor set of zero Lebesgue measure on the real line possesses a discrete inverse measure. We study the validity of the multifractal formalism for the inverse measures of random weak Gibbs measures supported on the attractor associated with some $C^1$ random dynamics encoded by a random subshift of finite type, and expanding in the mean. The study requires, in particular, to develop in this context of random dynamics a suitable extension of the results known for heterogeneous ubiquity associated with deterministic Gibbs measures.
We formulate a general statement of the problem of defining invariant measures with certain properties and suggest an ergodic method of perturbations for describing such measures.
We consider multifractal random wavelet series built from Gibbs measures, and study the singularity spectra associated with the graph and range of these functions restricted to their iso-Hölder sets. To obtain these singularity spectra, we use a family of Gibbs measures defined on a sequence of topologically transitive subshift of finite type whose Hausdorff distance to the set of zeros of the mother wavelet tends to 0.
We characterize the finiteness of Gibbs measures for geodesic flows on negatively curved manifolds by several criteria, analogous to those proposed by Sarig for symbolic dynamical systems over an infinite alphabet. As an application, we recover Dal'bo-Otal-Peign{é} criterion of finiteness for the Bowen-Margulis measure on geometrically finite hyperbolic manifolds, as well as Peign{é}' examples of gemetrically infinite manifolds having a finite Bowen-Margulis measure. These criteria should be useful in the future to find more examples with finite Gibbs measures.
We study the set of $p$-adic Gibbs measures of the $q$-states Potts model on the Cayley tree of order three. We prove the vastness of the periodic $p$-adic Gibbs measures for such model by showing the chaotic behavior of the correspondence Potts--Bethe mapping over $\mathbb{Q}\_p$ for $p\equiv 1 \ (\rm{mod} \ 3)$. In fact, for $0 < |θ-1|\_p < |q|\_p^2 < 1$, there exists a subsystem that isometrically conjugate to the full shift on three symbols. Meanwhile, for $0 < |q|\_p^2 \leq |θ-1|\_p < |q|\_p < 1$, there exists a subsystem that isometrically conjugate to a subshift of finite type on $r$ sy…
Let $π$ be a factor map from a one-dimensional mixing shift of finite type $X$ onto a sofic shift $Y$. We investigate when $π$ sends Gibbs measures on $X$ to non-Gibbs measures on $Y$.
We study a class of strongly irreducible, multidimensional, topological Markov shifts, comparing two notions of "symmetric measure": exchangeability and the Gibbs (or conformal) property. We show that equilibrium measures for such shifts (unique and weak Bernoulli in the one dimensional case) exhibit a variety of spectral properties.
We describe the multifractal nature of random weak Gibbs measures on some class of attractors associated with $C^1$ random dynamics semi-conjugate to a random subshift of finite type. This includes the validity of the multifractal formalism, the calculation of Hausdorff and packing dimensions of the so-called level sets of divergent points, and a $0$-$\infty$ law for the Hausdorff and packing measures of the level sets of the local dimension.
Let $(X, σ_X), (Y, σ_Y)$ be one-sided subshifts with the specification property and $π:X\rightarrow Y$ a factor map. Let $μ$ be a unique invariant Gibbs measure for a sequence of continuous functions $\F=\{\log f_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}$ on $X$, which is an almost additive potential with bounded variation. We show that $πμ$ is also a unique invariant Gibbs measure for a sequence of continuous functions $\G=\{\log g_n\}_{n=1}^{\infty}$ on $Y$. When $(X, σ_X)$ is a full shift, we characterize $\G$ and $μ$ by using relative pressure. This almost additive potential $\G$ is a generalization of a continu…
We study the Hausdorff dimension of Gibbs measures with infinite entropy with respect to maps of the interval with countably many branches. We show that under simple conditions, such measures are symbolic-exact dimensional, and provide an almost sure value for the symbolic dimension. We also show that the lower local dimension dimension is almost surely equal to zero, while the upper local dimension is almost surely equal to the symbolic dimension. In particular, we prove that a large class of Gibbs measures with infinite entropy for the Gauss map have Hausdorff dimension zero and packing dime…
We establish bounds for the measure of deviation sets associated to continuous observables with respect to not necessarily invariant weak Gibbs measures. Under some mild assumptions, we obtain upper and lower bounds for the measure of deviation sets of some non-uniformly expanding maps, including quadratic maps and robust multidimensional non-uniformly expanding local diffeomorphisms. For that purpose, a measure theoretical weak form of specification is introduced and proved to hold for the robust classes of multidimensional nonuniformly expanding local diffeomorphisms and Viana maps.
Let $T : Λ\to Λ$ be an expanding map on a Cantor set. For each suitably normalized Hölder continuous potential, we construct a spectral triple from which one may recover the associated Gibbs measure as a noncommutative measure.
For a large class of irreducible shift spaces $X\subset\tA^{\Z^d}$, with $\tA$ a finite alphabet, and for absolutely summable potentials $Φ$, we prove that equilibrium measures for $Φ$ are weak Gibbs measures. In particular, for $d=1$, the result holds for irreducible sofic shifts.
The Gibbs measure theory for smooth potentials is an old and beautiful subject and has many important applications in modern dynamical systems. For continuous potentials, it is impossible to have such a theory in general. However, we develop a dual geometric Gibbs type measure theory for certain continuous potentials in this paper following some ideas and techniques from Teichmüller theory for Riemann surfaces. Furthermore, we prove that the space of those continuous potentials has a Teichmüller structure. Moreover, this Teichmüller structure is a complete structure and is the completion of th…
We prove the explicit formula for sofic and Rokhlin entropy of actions arising from some class of Gibbs measures. It provides a new set of examples with sofic entropy independent of sofic approximations. It is particularilly interresting, since in non-amenable case Rokhlin entropy was computed only in case of Bernoulli actions and for some examples with zero Rokhlin entropy. As an example we show that our formula holds for the supercritical Ising model. We also establish a criterion for uniqueness of Gibbs measure by means of f-invariant.
We prove a generalization of the fundamental inequality of Guivarc'h relating entropy, drift and critical exponent to Gibbs measures on geometrically finite quotients of CAT(-1) metric spaces. For random walks with finite superexponential moment, we show that the equality is achieved if and only if the Gibbs density is equivalent to the hitting measure. As a corollary, if the action is not convex cocompact, any hitting measure is singular to any Gibbs density.
We consider a hard core (HC) model with a countable set $\mathbb{Z}$ of spin values on the Cayley tree. This model is defined by a countable set of parameters $λ_{i}>0, i \in \mathbb{Z}\setminus\{0\}$. For all possible values of parameters, we give limit points of the dynamical system generated by a function which describes the consistency condition for finite-dimensional measures. Also, we prove that every periodic Gibbs measure for the given model is either translation-invariant or periodic with period two. Moreover, we construct uncountable set of Gibbs measures for this HC model.
For SFTs, any equilibrium measure is Gibbs, as long a $f$ has $d$-summable variation. This is a theorem of Lanford and Ruelle. Conversely, a theorem of Dobru{š}in states that for strongly-irreducible subshifts, shift-invariant Gibbs-measures are equilibrium measures. Here we prove a generalization of the Lanford-Ruelle theorem: for all subshifts, any equilibrium measure for a function with $d$-summable variation is "topologically Gibbs". This is a relaxed notion which coincides with the usual notion of a Gibbs measure for SFTs. In the second part of the paper, we study Gibbs and equilibrium me…
In this article we study algebraic structures of function spaces defined by graphs and state spaces equipped with Gibbs measures by associating evolution algebras. We give a constructive description of associating evolution algebras to the function spaces (cell spaces) defined by graphs and state spaces and Gibbs measure $μ$. For finite graphs we find some evolution subalgebras and other useful properties of the algebras. We obtain a structure theorem for evolution algebras when graphs are finite and connected. We prove that for a fixed finite graph, the function spaces has a unique algebraic …
The Gibbs measures of an interaction can behave chaotically as the temperature drops to zero. We observe that for some classical lattice systems there are interactions exhibiting a related phenomenon of sensitive dependence of Gibbs measures: An arbitrarily small perturbation of the interaction can produce significant changes in the low-temperature behavior of its Gibbs measures. For some one-dimensional XY models we exhibit sensitive dependence of Gibbs measures for a (nearest-neighbor) interaction given by a smooth function, and for perturbations that are small in the smooth category. We als…
In this paper we extend the construction of random walks with a prescribed Poisson boundary to the case of measures in the class of a generalized Gibbs state. The price for dropping the $α$-quasiconformal assumptions is that we must restrict our attention to CAT($-κ$) groups. Apart from the new estimates required, we prove a new approximation scheme to provide a positive basis for positive functions in a metric measure space.
Ising model with competing nearest-neighbors and prolonged next-nearest-neighbors interactions on a Cayley tree has long been studied but there are still many problems untouched. This paper tackles new Gibbs measures of Ising-Vannimenus model with competing nearest-neighbors and prolonged next-nearest-neighbors interactions on a Cayley tree (or Bethe lattice) of order three. By using a new approach, we describe the translation-invariant Gibbs measures for the model. We show that some of the measures are extreme Gibbs distributions. In this paper we take up with trying to determine when phase t…
In the present paper we provide a new construction of measure, called $p$-adic quasi Gibbs measure, for countable state of $p$-adic Potts model on the Cayley tree. Such a construction depends on a parameter $\frak{p}$ and wights. In particular case, i.e. if $\frak{p}=\exp_p$, the defined measure coincides with $p$-adic Gibbs measure. In this paper, under some condition on weights we establish the existence of $p$-adic quasi Gibbs measures associated with the model. Note that this condition does not depend on values of the prime $p$. An analogues fact is not valid when the number of spins is fi…
We prove a metastability result for finitary microstates which are good models for a Gibbs measure for a nearest-neighbor interaction on a finitely-generated group. This is used to show that any maximal-entropy joining of two such Gibbs states is a relative product over the tail $σ$-algebra, except in degenerate cases. We also use results on extremal cuts of random graphs to further investigate optimal self-joinings of the Ising model on a free group.
In a recent paper by A. Backhausz, B. Gerencsér and V. Harangi, it was shown that factors of independent identically distributed random processes (IID) on trees obey certain geometry-driven inequalities. In particular, the mutual information shared between two vertices decays exponentially, and there is an explicit bound for this decay. In this note we show that all of these inequalities could be verbatim translated to the setting of factors of processes driven by unique Gibbs measures. As a consequence, we show that correlations decay exponentially for unique Gibbs measures on trees.
