Profinite extensions of centralizers and the profinite completion of limit groups

We introduce and investigate a class of profinite groups defined via extensions of centralizers analogous to the extensively studied class of finitely generated fully residually free groups, that is, limit groups (in the sense of Z. Sela). From the fact that the profinite completion of limit groups belong to this class, results on their group-theoretical structure and homological properties are obtained.

CSA groups and separated free constructions

A group $G$ is said to be a {\it CSA}-group if all maximal abelian subgroups of $G$ are malnormal. The class of CSA groups is of interest because it contains torsion-free hyperbolic groups, groups acting freely on $Λ$-trees and groups with the same existential theory as free groups. CSA groups are also very closely related to the study of residually free groups and tensor completions. Limits of relatively hyperbolic groups and Lyndon's completions

In this paper we describe finitely generated groups $H$ universally equivalent (with constants from $G$ in the language) to a given torsion-free relatively hyperbolic group $G$ with free abelian parabolics. It turns out that, as in the free group case, the group $H$ embeds into the Lyndon's completion $G^{\mathbb{Z}[t]}$ of the group $G$, or, equivalently, $H$ embeds into a group obtained from $G$ by finitely many extensions of centralizers.
