The new class of Banach spaces, so-called asymptotic $l_p$ spaces, is introduced and it is shown that every Banach space with bounded distortions contains a subspace from this class. The proof is based on an investigation of certain functions, called enveloping functions, which are intimately connected with stabilization properties of the norm.

On one relaxation of the bounded-length-distortion condition in the context of metric measure spaces

We study mappings with bounded (p,q)-distortion associated to Sobolev spaces on Carnot groups. We obtain structural theorems for the so-called S-asymptotic and quasiasymptotic boundedness of ultradistributions. Using these results, we then analyze the moment asymptotic expansion (MAE), providing a full characterization of those ultradistributions satisfying this asymptotic formula in the one-dimensional case. We also introduce and study a uniform variant of the MAE.

The relation between different notions measuring proximity to $\ell_1$ and distortability of a Banach space is studied. The main result states that a Banach space, whose all subspaces have Bourgain $\ell_1$ index greater than $ω^α$, $α<ω_1$, contains either an arbitrary distortable subspace or an $\ell_1^α$-asymptotic subspace.

We study invertibility of bounded composition operators of Sobolev spaces. The problem is closely connected with the theory of mappings of finite distortion. If a homeomorphism $φ$ of Euclidean domains $D$ and $D'$ generates by the composition rule $φ^{\ast}f=f\circφ$ a bounded composition operator of Sobolev spaces $φ^{\ast}: L^1_{\infty}(D')\to L^1_p(D)$, $p>n-1$, has finite distortion and Luzin $N$-property then its inverse $φ^{-1}$ generates the bounded composition operator from $L^1_{p'}(D)$, $p'=p/(p-n+1)$, into $L^1_{1}(D')$.
In this paper I show that pointwise bounded asymptotic morphisms between separable metrisable locally convex *-algebras induce continuous maps between the quasi-unitary groups of the algebras, provided that the algebras support a certain amount of functional calculus.
