In this paper we are proving that Sawyer type condition for boundedness work for the two weight estimates of individual Haar multipliers, as well as for the Haar shift and other "well localized" operators.
We provide elementary proofs for the terms that are left in the work of Kelly Bickel, Sandra Pott, Maria C. Reguera, Eric T. Sawyer, Brett D. Wick who proved the sharp weighted $A_2$ bound for Haar shifts and Haar multiplier. Our proofs use weighted square function estimate, Carleson embedding and Wilson's system.
C. Stockdale, P. Villarroya, and B. Wick introduced the $ε$-maximal operator to prove the Haar multiplier is bounded on the weighted spaces $L^p(w)$ for a class of weights larger than $A_p$. We prove the $ε$-maximal operator and Haar multiplier are bounded on variable Lebesgue spaces $\Lpp(\R^n)$ for a larger collection of exponent functions than the log-Holder continuous functions used to prove the boundedness of the maximal operator on $\Lpp(\R^n)$. We also prove that the Haar multiplier is compact when restricted to a dyadic cube $Q_0$.
We prove that $\log n$ is an almost everywhere convergence Weyl multiplier for the orthonormal systems of non-overlapping Haar polynomials. Moreover, it is done for the general systems of martingale difference polynomials.
We study the natural resolution of the conjugated Haar multiplier $M_{w^{\frac{1}{2}}}T_σM_{w^{-\frac{1}{2}}},$ where the multiplication operators $M_{w^{\pm\frac{1}{2}}}$ are decomposed into their canonical paraproduct decompositions. We prove that each constituent operator obtained from this resolution has a linear bound on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^d;w)$ in terms of the $A_{2}$ characteristic of $w$. The main tools used are a product formula for Haar coefficients, the Carleson Embedding Theorem, the linear bound for the square function, and the well-known linear bound of $T_σ$ on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^d,w)…
We introduce multilinear analogues of dyadic paraproduct operators and Haar Multipliers, and study boundedness properties of these operators and their commutators. We also characterize dyadic BMO functions via the boundedness of certain paraproducts and also via the boundedness of the commutators of multilinear Haar Multipliers and paraproduct operators.
We extend the definitions of dyadic paraproduct and t-Haar multipliers to dyadic operators that depend on the complexity (m,n), for m and n positive integers. We will use the ideas developed by Nazarov and Volberg to prove that the weighted L^2(w)-norm of a paraproduct with complexity (m,n) associated to a function b\in BMO, depends linearly on the A_2-characteristic of the weight w, linearly on the BMO-norm of b, and polynomially in the complexity. This argument provides a new proof of the linear bound for the dyadic paraproduct (the one with complexity (0,0)). Also we prove that the L^2-norm…
It is demonstrated that multiplier methods naturally yield better constants in strong converse inequalities for the Bernstein-Durrmeyer operator. The absolute constants obtained in some of the inequalities are independent of the weight and the dimension. The estimates are stated in terms of the $K$-functional that is naturally associated to the operator.
As a corollary to our main result we deduce sharp A_p$ inequalities for T being either the Hilbert transform in dimension d=1, the Beurling transform in dimension d=2, or a Riesz transform in any dimension d\ge 2. For T_{\ast} the maximal truncations of these operators, we prove the sharp A_p weighted weak and strong-type L ^{p} (w) inequalities, for all 1<p<\infty. Key elements of the proof are (1) extrapolation (2) a recent argument for the A_2 bound in the untruncated case, an argument of Lacey-Petermichl-Reguera. (3) a weak-L^1 estimate for duals of maximal truncations. And (4) recent char…
Let $L$ be a non-negative self-adjoint operator on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$. By spectral theory, we can define the operator $F(L)$, which is bounded on $L^2(X)$, for any bounded Borel function $F$. In this paper, we study the sharp weighted $L^p$ estimates for spectral multipliers $F(L)$ and their commutators $[b, F(L)]$ with BMO functions $b$. We would like to emphasize that the Gaussian upper bound condition on the heat kernels associated to the semigroups $e^{-tL}$ is not assumed in this paper.
Let $T$ be a multilinear operator which is bounded on certain products of unweighted Lebesgue spaces of $\mathbb R^n$. We assume that the associated kernel of $T$ satisfies some mild regularity condition which is weaker than the usual Hölder continuity of those in the class of multilinear Calderón-Zygmund singular integral operators. We then show the boundedness for $T$ and the boundedness of the commutator of $T$ with BMO functions on products of weighted Lebesgue spaces of $\mathbb R^n$. As an application, we obtain the weighted norm inequalities of multilinear Fourier multipliers and of the…
We prove that the condition \begin{equation} \sum_{n=1}^\infty\frac{1}{nw(n)}<\infty \end{equation} is necessary for an increasing sequence of numbers $w(n)$ to be an almost everywhere unconditional convergence Weyl multiplier for the trigonometric system. This property for Haar, Walsh, Franklin and some other classical orthogonal systems was known long ago. The proof of this result is based on a new sharp logarithmic lower bound on $L^2$ of the majorant operator related to the rearranged trigonometric system.
We give characterizations of radial Fourier multipliers as acting on radial L^p-functions, 1<p<2d/(d+1), in terms of Lebesgue space norms for Fourier localized pieces of the convolution kernel. This is a special case of corresponding results for general Hankel multipliers. Besides L^p-L^q bounds we also characterize weak type inequalities and intermediate inequalities involving Lorentz spaces. Applications include results on interpolation of multiplier spaces.
Sufficient ultraspherical multiplier criteria are refined in such a way that they are comparable with necessary multiplier conditions. Also new necessary conditions for Jacobi multipliers are deduced which, in particular, imply known Cohen type inequalities. Muckenhoupt's transplantation theorem is used in an essential way.
In this article, we investigate the boundedness properties of the multilinear dyadic paraproduct operators in the weighted setting. We also obtain weighted estimates for the multilinear Haar multipliers and their commutators with dyadic BMO functions.
Let $W$ denote a matrix $A_2$ weight. In this paper, we implement a scalar argument using the square function to deduce square-function type results for vector-valued functions in $L^2(\mathbb{R},\mathbb{C}^d)$. These results are then used to study the boundedness of the Hilbert transform and Haar multipliers on $L^2(\mathbb{R},\mathbb{C}^d)$. Our proof shortens the original argument by Treil and Volberg and improves the dependence on the $A_2$ characteristic. In particular, we prove that the Hilbert transform and Haar multipliers map $L^2(\mathbb{R},W,\mathbb{C}^d)$ to itself with dependence …
We study stability estimates for the almost extremal functions associated with the $L^p$-bound for the real and imaginary parts of the Beurling-Ahlfors operator. The proof exploits probabilistic methods and rests on analogous results for differentially subordinate martingales which are of independent interest. This allows us to obtain stability inequalities for a larger class of Fourier multipliers.
Using Wilson's Haar basis in $\R^n$, which is different than the usual tensor product Haar functions, we define its associated dyadic paraproduct in $\R^n$. We can then extend "trivially" Beznosova's Bellman function proof of the linear bound in $L^2(w)$ with respect to $[w]_{A_2}$ for the 1-dimensional dyadic paraproduct. Here trivial means that each piece of the argument that had a Bellman function proof has an $n$-dimensional counterpart that holds with the same Bellman function. The lemma that allows for this painless extension we call the good Bellman function Lemma. Furthermore the argum…
The current status concerning Hardy-type inequalities with sharp constants is presented and described in a unified convexity way. In particular, it is then natural to replace the Lebesgue measure $dx$ with the Haar measure $dx/x.$ There are also derived some new two-sided Hardy-type inequalities for monotone functions, where not only the two constants are sharp but also where the involved function spaces are (more) optimal. As applications, a number of both well-known and new Hardy-type inequalities are pointed out. And, in turn, these results are used to derive some new sharp information conc…
We control a broad class of singular (or "rough") Fourier multipliers by geometrically-defined maximal operators via general weighted $L^2(\mathbb{R})$ norm inequalities. The multipliers involved are related to those of Coifman--Rubio de Francia--Semmes, satisfying certain weak Marcinkiewicz-type conditions that permit highly oscillatory factors of the form $e^{i|ξ|^α}$ for both $α$ positive and negative. The maximal functions that arise are of some independent interest, involving fractional averages associated with tangential approach regions (related to those of Nagel and Stein), and more no…
In the present work some Jackson Stechkin type direct theorems of trigonometric approximation are proved in Orlicz spaces with weights satisfying some Muckenhoupt's $A_{p}$ condition. To obtain refined version of the Jackson type inequality we prove an extrapolation theorem, Marcinkiewicz multiplier theorem and Littlewood Paley type results. As a consequence refined inverse Marchaud type inequalities are obtained. By means of a realization result we find an equivalence between the fractional order weighted modulus of smoothness and the classical weighted Peetre's K-functional.
We prove endpoint-type sparse bounds for Walsh-Fourier Marcinkiewicz multipliers and Littlewood-Paley square functions. These results are motivated by conjectures of Lerner in the Fourier setting. As a corollary, we obtain novel quantitative weighted norm inequalities for these operators. Among these, we establish the sharp growth rate of the $L^p$ weighted operator norm in terms of the $A_p$ characteristic in the full range $1<p<\infty$ for Walsh-Littlewood-Paley square functions, and a restricted range for Marcinkiewicz multipliers. Zygmund's $L{(\log L)^{\frac12}}$ inequality is the core of…
In this paper, the index groups for which the weighted Young's inequalities hold in both continuous case and discrete case are characterized. As applications, the index groups for the product inequalities on modulation spaces are characterized, we also obtain the weakest conditions for the boundedness of bilinear Fourier multipliers on modulation spaces in some sense. For the fractional integral operator, the sharp conditions for the boundedness of power weighted Lp-Lq estimates in both continuous case and discrete case are obtained. By a quite different approach from others, our theorems opti…
This paper deals with the inequalities devoted to the comparison between the norm of a function on a compact hypergroup and the norm of its Fourier coefficients. We prove the classical Paley inequality in the setting of compact hypergroups which further gives the Hardy-Littlewood and Hausdorff-Young-Paley (Pitt) inequalities in the noncommutative context. We establish Hörmander's $L^p$-$L^q$ Fourier multiplier theorem on compact hypergroups for $1<p \leq 2 \leq q<\infty$ as an application of Hausdorff-Young-Paley inequality. We examine our results for the hypergroups constructed from the conju…
We consider bilinear oscillatory integrals, i.e. pseudo-product operators whose symbol involves an oscillating factor. Lebesgue space inequalities are established, which give decay as the oscillation becomes stronger ; this extends the well-known linear theory of oscillatory integral in some directions. The proof relies on a combination of time-frequency analysis of Coifman-Meyer type with stationary and non-stationary phase estimates. As a consequence of this analysis, we obtain Lebesgue estimates for new bilinear multipliers defined by non-smooth symbols.
The purpose of this paper is to describe a unified approach to proving vector-valued inequalities without relying on the full strength of weighted theory. Our applications include the Fefferman-Stein and Cordoba-Fefferman inequalities, as well as the vector-valued Carleson operator. Using this approach we also produce a proof of the boundedness of the classical bi-parameter multiplier operators, that does not rely on product theory. Our arguments are inspired by the vector valued restricted type interpolation used in [1].
Through the study of novel variants of the classical Littlewood-Paley-Stein $g$-functions, we obtain pointwise estimates for broad classes of highly-singular Fourier multipliers on $\mathbb{R}^d$ satisfying regularity hypotheses adapted to fine (subdyadic) scales. In particular, this allows us to efficiently bound such multipliers by geometrically-defined maximal operators via general weighted $L^2$ inequalities, in the spirit of a well-known conjecture of Stein. Our framework applies to solution operators for dispersive PDE, such as the time-dependent free Schrödinger equation, and other high…
In this paper we provide weighted estimates for rough operators, including rough homogeneous singular integrals $T_Ω$ with $Ω\in L^\infty(\mathbb{S}^{n-1})$ and the Bochner-Riesz multiplier at the critical index $B_{(n-1)/2}$. More precisely, we prove qualitative and quantitative versions of Coifman-Fefferman type inequalities and their vector-valued extensions, weighted $A_p-A_\infty$ strong and weak type inequalities for $1<p<\infty$, and $A_1-A_\infty$ type weak $(1,1)$ estimates. Moreover, Fefferman-Stein type inequalities are obtained, proving in this way a conjecture raised by the second…
Approximation on the spherical cap is different from that on the sphere which requires us to construct new operators. This paper discusses the approximation on the spherical cap. That is, so called Jackson-type operator $\{J_{k,s}^m\}_{k=1}^{\infty}$ is constructed to approximate the function defined on the spherical cap $D(x_0,γ)$. We thus establish the direct and inverse inequalities and obtain saturation theorems for $\{J_{k,s}^m\}_{k=1}^{\infty}$ on the cap $D(x_0,γ)$. Using methods of $K$-functional and multiplier, we obtain the inequality \begin{eqnarray*} C_1\:\| J_{k,s}^m(f)-f\|_{D,p}\…
This paper is devoted to provide some new results on Lyapunov type inequalities for the periodic boundary value problem at higher eigenvalues. Our main result is derived from a detailed analysis on the number and distribution of zeros of nontrivial solutions and their first derivatives, together with the study of some special minimization problems, where the Lagrange multiplier Theorem plays a fundamental role. This allows to obtain the optimal constants. Our applications include the Hill's equation where we give some new conditions on its stability properties and also the study of periodic an…
In this paper we solve three problems in noncommutative harmonic analysis which are related to endpoint inequalities for singular integrals. In first place, we prove that an $L_2$-form of Hörmander's kernel condition suffices for the weak type (1,1) of Calderón-Zygmund operators acting on matrix-valued functions. To that end, we introduce an improved CZ decomposition for martingale filtrations in von Neumann algebras, and apply a very simple unconventional argument which notably avoids pseudolocalization. In second place, we establish as well the weak $L_1$ endpoint for matrix-valued CZ operat…
We provide a natural BMO-criterion for the $L_2$-boundedness of Calderón-Zygmund operators with operator-valued kernels satisfying a symmetric property. Our arguments involve both classical and quantum probability theory. In the appendix, we give a proof of the $L_2$-boundedness of the commutators $[R_j,b]$ whenever $b$ belongs to the Bourgain's vector-valued BMO space, where $R_j$ is the $j$-th Riesz transform. A common ingredient is the operator-valued Haar multiplier studied by Blasco and Pott.
We give a new proof of the sharp one weight $L^p$ inequality for any operator $T$ that can be approximated by Haar shift operators such as the Hilbert transform, any Riesz transform, the Beurling-Ahlfors operator. Our proof avoids the Bellman function technique and two weight norm inequalities. We use instead a recent result due to A. Lerner to estimate the oscillation of dyadic operators. Our method is flexible enough to prove the corresponding sharp one-weight norm inequalities for some operators of harmonic analysis: the maximal singular integrals associated to $T$, Dyadic square functions …
Let $X$ be a metric space with a doubling measure. Let $L$ be a nonnegative self-adjoint operator acting on $L^2(X)$, hence $L$ generates an analytic semigroup $e^{-tL}$. Assume that the kernels $p_t(x,y)$ of $e^{-tL}$ satisfy Gaussian upper bounds and Hölder's continuity in $x$ but we do not require the semigroup to satisfy the preservation condition $e^{-tL}1 = 1$. In this article we aim to establish the exponential-square integrability of a function whose square function associated to an operator $L$ is bounded, and the proof is new even for the Laplace operator on the Euclidean spaces ${\m…
We prove that if a pair of weights $(u,v)$ satisfies a sharp $A_p$-bump condition in the scale of log bumps and certain loglog bumps, then Haar shifts map $L^p(v)$ into $L^p(u)$ with a constant quadratic in the complexity of the shift. This in turn implies the two weight boundedness for all Calderón-Zygmund operators. This gives a partial answer to a long-standing conjecture. We also give a partial result for a related conjecture for weak-type inequalities. To prove our main results we combine several different approaches to these problems; in particular we use many of the ideas developed to p…
Calderón-Zygmund operators with noncommuting kernels may fail to be Lp-bounded for $p \neq 2$, even for kernels with good size and smoothness properties. Matrix-valued paraproducts, Fourier multipliers on group vNa's or noncommutative martingale transforms are frameworks where we find such difficulties. We obtain weak type estimates for perfect dyadic CZO's and cancellative Haar shifts associated to noncommuting kernels in terms of a row/column decomposition of the function. Arbitrary CZO's satisfy $H_1 \to L_1$ type estimates. In conjunction with $L_\infty \to BMO$, we get certain row/column …
