We study the dynamics near infinity of polynomial mappings $f$ in $\mathbb{C}^2$. We assume that $f$ has indeterminacy points and is non constant on the line at infinity $L_\infty$. If $L_\infty$ is $f$-attracting, we decompose the Green current along itineraries defined by the indeterminacy points and their preimages. The symbolic dynamics that arises is a subshift on an infinite alphabet.

On a substitution subshift related to the Grigorchuk group

We study dynamics of a substitution subshift given by the substitution a->aca, b->d, c->b, d->c that is related to the Grigorchuk group. This dynamical system is shown to be, up to a countable set, conjugated to the binary odometer.

The Mapping Class Group of a Minimal Subshift

For a homeomorphism $T \colon X \to X$ of a Cantor set $X$, the mapping class group $\mathcal{M}(T)$ is the group of isotopy classes of orientation-preserving self-homeomorphisms of the suspension $Σ_{T}X$. The group $\mathcal{M}(T)$ can be interpreted as the symmetry group of the system $(X,T)$ with respect to the flow equivalence relation. Real and complex dynamics of a family of birational maps of the plane: the golden mean subshift

We give a detailed description of the dynamics of a family of birational mappings of the plane. The organizing theme of our analysis is that this family is essentially conjugate to the golden mean subshift.

The Gauss map on a class of interval translation mappings

We study the dynamics of a class of interval translation map on three intervals. We show that in this class the typical ITM is of finite type (reduce to an interval exchange transformation) and that the complement contains a Cantor set. We relate our maps to substitution subshifts. Results on Hausdorff dimension of the attractor and on unique ergodicity are obtained.

Veelike actions and the MCG of a mixing SFT

We embed Thompson's group $V$ in the mapping class group of a mixing subshift of finite type. Question~6.3 in [Boyle-Chuysurichay, 17] asks whether these mapping class groups are sofic. Our result suggests that this question is difficult to solve at present (at least for some mixing SFTs), since a resolution of it in either direction would solve an open problem in geometric group theory. Poincare linearizers in higher dimensions

It is well-known that a holomorphic function near a repelling fixed point may be conjugated to a linear function. The function which conjugates is called a Poincaré linearizer and may be extended to a transcendental entire function in the plane. In this paper, we study the dynamics of a higher dimensional generalization of Poincaré linearizers. These arise by conjugating a uniformly quasiregular mapping in $\R^m$ near a repelling fixed point to the mapping $x\mapsto 2x$. In particular, we show that the fast escaping set of such a linearizer has a spider's web structure.

On Böttcher coordinates and quasiregular maps

It is well-known that a polynomial f(z)=a_d z^d(1+o(1)) can be conjugated by a holomorphic map phi to w \mapsto w^d in a neighbourhood of infinity. This map phi is called a Böttcher coordinate for f near infinity. In this paper we construct a Böttcher type coordinate for compositions of affine mappings and polynomials, a class of mappings first studied in "Quasiregular mappings of polynomial type in R^2" by A.Fletcher and D.Goodman. As an application, we prove that if h is affine and c is a complex number, then h(z)^2+c is not uniformly quasiregular.
