The loop orbifold of the symmetric product

By using the loop orbifold of the symmetric product, we give a formula for the Poincaré polynomial of the free loop space of the Borel construction of the symmetric product. We also show that the Chas-Sullivan product structure in the homology of the free loop space of the Borel construction of the symmetric product induces a ring structure in the homology of the inertia orbifold of the symmetric product. This ring structure is compared to the one in cohomology defined through the usual field theory formalism as in the theory of Chen and Ruan.

Orbifold Virtual Cohomology of the Symmetric Product

The virtual cohomology of an orbifold is a ring structure on the cohomology of the inertia orbifold whose product is defined via the pull-push formalism and the Euler class of the excess intersection bundle. In this paper we calculate the virtual cohomology of a large family of orbifolds, including the symmetric product.

Loop homology of some global quotient orbifolds

We determine the ring structure of the loop homology of some global quotient orbifolds. We can compute by our theorem the loop homology ring with suitable coefficients of the global quotient orbifolds of the form $[M/G]$ for $M$ being some kinds of homogeneous manifolds, and $G$ being a finte subgroup of a path connected topological group $\mathcal{G}$ acting on $M$. Inertia Orbifolds, Configuration Spaces and the Ghost Loop Space

In this paper we define and study the "ghost loop orbifold" of an orbifold $X$ consisting of those loops that remain constant in the coarse moduli space of $X$. We construct a configuration space model for the ghost loop orbifold using an idea of G. Segal. From this we exhibit the relation between the Hochschild and cyclic homologies of the inertia orbifold of $X$ (that generate the so-called twisted sectors in string theory) and the ordinary and equivariant homologies of the ghost loop orbifold. Derived loop stacks and categorification of orbifold products

The existence of interesting multiplicative cohomology theories for orbifolds was first suggested by string theorists. Orbifold products have been intensely studied by mathematicians for the last fifteen years. In this paper we focus on the virtual orbifold product that was first introduced in Lupercio et al. (2007). The loop homology algebra of discrete torsion

We show that Lupercio-Uribe-Xicoténcatl's orbifold loop product and coproduct can be described by a group cohomology class in some cases. By computing this cohomology class, we show that in some cases the orbifold loop product is trivial.

Orbifold Cohomology of the Symmetric Product

Chen and Ruan's orbifold cohomology of the symmetric product of a complex manifold is calculated. An isomorphism of rings (up to a change of signs) $H_{orb}^*(X^n/S_n;\complex) \cong H^*(X^{[n]};\complex)$ between the orbifold cohomology of the symmetric product of a smooth projective surface with trivial canonical class $X$ and the cohomology of its Hilbert scheme $X^{[n]}$ is obtained, yielding a positive answer to a conjecture of Ruan.

Orbifold Euler characteristics and the number of commuting n-tuples in symmetric groups

Generating functions for the number of commuting m-tuples in the symmetric groups are obtained. We define a natural sequence of ``orbifold Euler characteristics'' for a finite group G acting on a manifold X. Our definition generalizes the ordinary Euler characteristic of X/G and the string-theoretic orbifold Euler characteristic. Our formulae for commuting m-tuples underlie formulas that generalize the results of Macdonald and Hirzebruch-Hofer concerning the ordinary and string-theoretic Euler characteristics of symmetric products.

Generating Functions of Orbifold Chern Classes I : Symmetric Products

For a possibly singular complex variety $X$, generating functions of total "orbifold Chern homology classes" of symmetric products $S^nX$ are given. Those are very natural "Chern class versions" (in the sense of Schwartz-MacPherson) of known generating function formulae of (generalized) orbifold Euler characteristics of $S^nX$. In fact more generally we introduce the "class version" of the Dey-Wohlfahrt formula in classical group theory.

Generalized Orbifold Euler Characteristic of Symmetric Products and Equivariant Morava K-Theory

We introduce the notion of generalized orbifold Euler characteristic associated to an arbitrary group, and study its properties. We then calculate generating functions of higher order (p-primary) orbifold Euler characteristic of symmetric products of a G-manifold M. Loop Groupoids, Gerbes, and Twisted Sectors on Orbifolds

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the notion of loop groupoid associated to a groupoid. After studying the general properties of the loop groupoid, we show how this notion provides a very natural geometric interpretation for the twisted sectors of an orbifold, and for the inner local systems introduced by Ruan by means of a natural generalization of the concept holonomy of a gerbe.

Infinite Product Decomposition of Orbifold Mapping Spaces

Physicists showed that the generating function of orbifold elliptic genera of symmetric orbifolds can be written as an infinite product. We show that there exists a geometric factorization on space level behind this infinite product formula in much more general framework, where factors in the infinite product correspond to isomorphism classes of connected finite covering spaces of manifolds involved. Generalized orbifold Euler characteristics for general orbifolds and wreath products

We introduce the $Γ$-Euler-Satake characteristics of a general orbifold $Q$ presented by an orbifold groupoid $\mathcal{G}$, generalizing to orbifolds that are not necessarily global quotients the generalized orbifold Euler characteristics of Bryan-Fulman and Tamanoi. Orbifold String Topology

In this paper we study the string topology (á la Chas-Sullivan) of an orbifold. We define the string homology ring product at the level of the free loop space of the classifying space of an orbifold. We study its properties (introducing an operad to do so) and do some explicit calculations.

Functional equations for orbifold wreath products

We present generating functions for extensions of multiplicative invariants of wreath symmetric products of orbifolds presented as the quotient by the locally free action of a compact, connected Lie group in terms of orbifold sector decompositions. Orbifold genera, product formulas and power operations

We generalize the definition of orbifold elliptic genus, and introduce orbifold genera of chromatic level h, using h-tuples rather than pairs of commuting elements. We show that our genera are in fact orbifold invariants, and we prove integrality results for them.
