We describe generators of universal Lefschetz groups consisting of self-maps of equivariant 1-spheres. This allows to formulate a normalization axiom which, together with the usual axioms, determines an equivariant Lefschetz number uniquely. We apply this technique to identify the fixed orbit detecting equivariant Lefschetz number of Chorny with the fixed orbit index of Dzedzej.

For discrete groups G, we introduce equivariant Nielsen invariants. They are equivariant analogs of the Nielsen number and give lower bounds for the number of fixed point orbits in the G-homotopy class of an equivariant endomorphism f:X->X. Under mild hypotheses, these lower bounds are sharp. We use the equivariant Nielsen invariants to show that a G-equivariant endomorphism f is G-homotopic to a fixed point free G-map if the generalized equivariant Lefschetz invariant of f is zero. Finally, we prove a converse of the equivariant Lefschetz fixed point theorem.
We reexamine equivariant generalizations of the Lefschetz number and Reidemeister trace using categorical traces. This gives simple, conceptual descriptions of the invariants as well as direct comparisons to previously defined generalizations. These comparisons are illuminating applications of the additivity and multiplicativity of the categorical trace.

The Bauer-Furuta invariants of smooth 4-manifolds are investigated from a functorial point of view. This leads to a definition of equivariant Bauer-Furuta invariants for compact Lie group actions. These are studied in Galois covering situations. We show that the ordinary invariants of all quotients are determined by the equivariant invariants of the covering manifold. We apply Lescop's construction of $\mathbb{Z}$-equivariant perturbative invariant of knots and 3-manifolds to the explicit equivariant propagator of "AL-paths" given in arXiv:1403.8030. Starting from ideas of Furuta, we develop a general formalism for the construction of cohomotopy invariants associated with a certain class of $S^1$-equivariant non-linear maps between Hilbert bundles. Applied to the Seiberg-Witten map, this formalism yields a new class of cohomotopy Seiberg-Witten invariants which have clear functorial properties with respect to diffeomorphisms of 4-manifolds.
