Motivated by applications to higher-rank Brill-Noether theory and the Bertram-Feinberg-Mukai conjecture, we introduce the concepts of linked alternating and linked symplectic forms on a chain of vector bundles, and show that the linked symplectic Grassmannians parametrizing chains of subbundles isotropic for a given linked symplectic form has good dimensional behavior analogous to that of the classical symplectic Grassmannian.

In this note, we describe a theory of linked Hom spaces which complements that of linked Grassmannians. Given two chains of vector bundles linked by maps in both directions, we give conditions for the space of homomorphisms from one chain to the other to be itself represented by a vector bundle. We apply this to present a more transparent version of an earlier construction of limit linear series spaces out of linked Grassmannians.

Linear degenerate flag varieties are degenerations of flag varieties as quiver Grassmannians. For type A flag varieties, we obtain characterizations of flatness, irreducibility and normality of these degenerations via rank tuples. Some of them are shown to be isomorphic to Schubert varieties and can be realized as highest weight orbits of partially degenerate Lie algebras, generalizing the corresponding results on degenerate flag varieties. To study normality, cell decompositions of quiver Grassmannians are constructed in a wider context of equioriented quivers of type A.

The bandwidth of a $\mathbb{C}^*$-action of a polarized pair $(X,L)$ is a natural measure of its complexity. In this paper we study $\mathbb{C}^*$-actions on rational homogeneous spaces, determining which provide minimal bandwidth. We prove that the minimal bandwidth is linked to the smallest coefficient of the fundamental weight, in a base of simple roots, which describes the variety as a marked Dynkin diagram. As a direct application of the results we study the Chow ring of the Cayley plane $\mathrm{E}_6(6)$.
