Nevanlinna-Pick Interpolation On Certain Subalgebras of $H^{\infty}(\mathbb{D})$

Given a collection $K$ of positive integers, let $H^{\infty}_K(\mathbb{D})$ denote the set of all bounded analytic functions defined on the unit disk $\mathbb{D}$ in $\mathbb{C}$ whose $k^{\text{th}}$ derivative vanishes at zero, for all $k \in K$. Fejér-type positive operator based on Takenaka--Malmquist system on unit circle

Let $φ=\{φ_k\}_{k=-\infty}^\infty$ denote the extended Takenaka--Malmquist system on unit circle $\mathbb T$ and let $σ_{n,φ}(f),$ $f\in L^1(\mathbb T)$, be the Fejér-type operator based on $φ$, introduced by V. N. Rusak. We give the convergence criteria for $σ_{n,φ}(f)$ in Banach space $X(\mathbb T):=L^p(\mathbb T)\vee C(\mathbb T)$, $p\ge 1$. Also we prove the Voronovskaya-type theorem for $σ_{n,φ}(f)$ on class of holomorphic functions representable by Cauchy-type integrals with bounded densities.

On the Distribution of Complex Roots of Random Polynomials with Heavy-tailed Coefficients

Consider a random polynomial $G_n(z)=ξ_nz^n+...+ξ_1z+ξ_0$ with i.i.d. complex-valued coefficients. Suppose that the distribution of $\log(1+\log(1+|ξ_0|))$ has a slowly varying tail. Then the distribution of the complex roots of $G_n$ concentrates in probability, as $n\to\infty$, to two centered circles and is uniform in the argument as $n\to\infty$. The radii of the circles are $|ξ_0/ξ_τ|^{1/τ}$ and $|ξ_τ/ξ_n|^{1/(n-τ)}$, where $ξ_τ$ denotes the coefficient with the maximum modulus.

An extremal problem for characteristic functions

Suppose $E$ is a subset of the unit circle $\mathbb{T}$ and $H^\infty\subset L^\infty$ is the Hardy subalgebra. We examine the problem of finding the distance from the characteristic function of $E$ to $z^nH^\infty$. This admits an alternate description as a dual extremal problem. Precise solutions are given in several important cases. The techniques used involve the theory of Toeplitz and Hankel operators as well as the construction of certain conformal mappings.

For a polynomial $P_n$ of degree $n$, Bernstein's inequality states that $\|P_n'\| \le n \|P_n\|$ for all $L^p$ norms on the unit circle, $0<p\le\infty,$ with equality for $P_n(z)= c z^n.$ We study this inequality for random polynomials, and show that the expected (average) and almost sure value of $\Vert P_n' \Vert/\Vert P_n\Vert$ is often different from the classical deterministic upper bound $n$.
