Loss of polyconvexity by homogenization: a new example

This article is devoted to the study of the asymptotic behavior of the zero-energy deformations set of a periodic nonlinear composite material. We approach the problem using two-scale Young measures. We apply our analysis to show that polyconvex energies are not closed with respect to periodic homogenization. The counterexample is obtained through a rank-one laminated structure assembled by mixing two polyconvex functions with $p$-growth, where $p\geq2$ can be fixed arbitrarily.

Characterizations of symmetric polyconvexity

Symmetric quasiconvexity plays a key role for energy minimization in geometrically linear elasticity theory. Due to the complexity of this notion, a common approach is to retreat to necessary and sufficient conditions that are easier to handle. Loss of strong ellipticity through homogenization in 2D linear elasticity: A phase diagram

Since the seminal contribution of Geymonat, Müller, and Triantafyllidis, it is known that strong ellipticity is not necessarily conserved through periodic homogenization in linear elasticity. Quantitative homogenization for the case of an interface between two heterogeneous media

In this article we are interested in quantitative homogenization results for linear elliptic equations in the non-stationary situation of a straight interface between two heterogenous media. Homogenization of the linear Boltzmann equation in a domain with a periodic distribution of holes

Consider a linear Boltzmann equation posed on the Euclidian plane with a periodic system of circular holes and for particles moving at speed 1.
