A Nullstellensatz for amoebas

The amoeba of an affine algebraic variety V in (C^*)^r is the image of V under the map (z_1, ..., z_r) -> (log|z_1|, ..., log|z_r|). We give a characterisation of the amoeba based on the triangle inequality, which we call testing for lopsidedness. We show that if a point is outside the amoeba of V, there is an element of the defining ideal which witnesses this fact by being lopsided. This condition is necessary and sufficient for amoebas of arbitrary codimension, as well as for compactifications of amoebas inside any toric variety. Our approach naturally leads to methods for approximating hypersurface amoebas and their spines by systems of linear inequalities. Finally, we remark that our main result can be seen a precise analogue of a Nullstellensatz statement for tropical varieties.

Approximating amoebas and coamoebas by sums of squares

Amoebas and coamoebas are the logarithmic images of algebraic varieties and the images of algebraic varieties under the arg-map, respectively. We present new techniques for computational problems on amoebas and coamoebas, thus establishing new connections between (co-)amoebas, semialgebraic and convex algebraic geometry and semidefinite programming. Amoebas and coamoebas of linear spaces

We give a complete description of amoebas and coamoebas of $k$-dimensional very affine linear spaces in $(\mathbb{C}^*)^{n}$. This include an upper bound of their dimension, and we show that if a $k$-dimensional very affine linear space in $(\mathbb{C}^*)^{n}$ is generic, then the dimension of its (co)amoeba is equal to $\min \{ 2k, n\}$. Moreover, we prove that the volume of its coamoeba is equal to $π^{2k}$. In addition, if the space is generic and real, then the volume of its amoeba is equal to $\frac{π^{2k}}{2^k}$.

Algebraic sets, ideals of points and the Hilbert's Nullstellensatz theorem for skew PBW extensions

In this paper we define the algebraic sets and the ideal of points for bijective skew PBW extensions with coefficients in left Noetherian domains. Maximal ideals in the ring of regulous functions are not finitely generated

The paper consider regulous functions on the real affine space $\mathbb{R}^N$. We shall study some algebraic properties of the ring of those functions. It is presented a proof of the regulous version of Nullstellensatz based on the substitution property and the Artin-Lang property for the considered function ring. We prove that every maximal ideal in the ring of regulous functions on $\mathbb{R}^N$ when $N\geq 2$ is not finitely generated. Finally, we extend the latter result to an arbitrary, smooth, real affine algebraic variety of dimension $d\geq 2$.

Reductive group schemes, the Greenberg functor, and associated algebraic groups

Let $A$ be an Artinian local ring with algebraically closed residue field $k$, and let $\mathbf{G}$ be an affine smooth group scheme over $A$. The Greenberg functor $\mathcal{F}$ associates to $\mathbf{G}$ a linear algebraic group $G:=(\mathcal{F}\mathbf{G})(k)$ over $k$, such that $G\cong\mathbf{G}(A)$.
