Smooth K-theory of locally convex algebras

Smooth K-functors are introduced and the smooth K-theory of locally convex algebras is developed. It is proved that the algebraic and smooth K-functors are isomorphic on the category of quasi stable real (or complex) Frechet algebras.

K-regularity of locally convex algebras

The isomorphism of Karoubi-Villamayor K-groups with smooth K-groups for monoid algebras over quasi stable locally convex algebras is established and we prove that the Quillen K- groups are isomorphic to smooth K-groups for monoid algebras over quasi-stable Frechet algebras having a properly uniformly bounded approximate unit. Based on these results the K-regularity property for quasi-stable Frechet algebras having a properly uniformly bounded approximate unit is established.

Algebraic K-theory and locally convex algebras

We consider functors from the category of locally convex algebras to abelian groups and prove invariance under smooth homotopies for weakly J-stable algebras, where J is a harmonic operator ideal. This applies in particular to negative algebraic K-theory. We develop the technology of Kasparov modules in an algebraic setting in order to obtain the results. The article also includes a computation of the first algebraic K-theory of harmonic operator ideals.

Universal cycles and homological invariants of locally convex algebras

Using an appropriate notion of locally convex Kasparov modules, we show how to induce isomorphisms under a large class of functors on the category of locally convex algebras; examples are obtained from spectral triples. Our considerations are based on the action of algebraic K-theory on these functors, and involve compatibility properties of the induction process with this action, and with Kasparov-type products. Exact sequences for locally convex subalgebras of Pimsner algebras with an application to Quantum Heisenberg Manifolds

We prove six-term exact sequences of Pimsner-Voiculescu type for certain subalgebras of the Cuntz-Pimsner algebras. This sequence may, in particular, be applied to smooth subalgebras of the Quantum Heisenberg Manifolds in order to compute the generators of their cyclic cohomology. Further, our results include the known results for smooth crossed products. Our proof is based on a combination of arguments from the setting of (Cuntz-)Pimsner algebras and the Toeplitz proof of Bott-periodicity.
