We show that strongly monotone systems of ordinary differential equations which have a certain translation-invariance property are so that all solutions converge to a unique equilibrium. The result may be seen as a dual of a well-known theorem of Mierczynski for systems that satisfy a conservation law. An application to a reaction of interest in biochemistry is provided as an illustration.

Invariance properties of thematic factorizations of matrix functions

We study the problem of invariance of indices of thematic factorizations. Such factorizations were introduced in [PY1] for studying superoptimal approximation by bounded analytic matrix functions. Explicit solutions of the invariance equation for means

Extending the notion of projective means we first generalize an invariance identity related to the Carlson log given in a recent paper of P. Kahlig and J. Matkowski, and then, more generally, given a bivariate symmetric, homogeneous and monotone mean M, we give explicit formula for a rich family of pairs of M-complementary means. We prove that this method cannot be extended for higher dimension. Some examples are given and two open questions are proposed.

Monotone waves for non-monotone and non-local monostable reaction-diffusion equations

We propose a criterion for the existence of monotone wavefronts in non-monotone and non-local monostable diffusive equations of the Mackey-Glass type. This extends recent results by Gomez et al proved for the particular case of equations with local delayed reaction. Time-frequency shift invariance and the Amalgan Balian Low Theorem

We consider smoothness properties of the generator of a principal Gabor space on the real line which is invariant under some additional translation-modulation pair. We prove that if a Gabor system on a lattice with rational density is a Riesz basis for its closed linear span, and if the closed linear span, a Gabor space, has any additional translation-modulation invariance, then its generator cannot decay well in time and in frequency simultaneously.

Invariance of a Shift-Invariant Space

A shift-invariant space is a space of functions that is invariant under integer translations. Such spaces are often used as models for spaces of signals and images in mathematical and engineering applications. A simple approach to the wave uniqueness problem

We propose a new approach for proving uniqueness of semi-wavefronts in generally non-monotone monostable reaction-diffusion equations with distributed delay. This allows to solve an open problem concerning the uniqueness of non-monotone (hence, slowly oscillating) semi-wavefronts to the KPP-Fisher equation with delay. Similarly, a broad family of the Mackey-Glass type diffusive equations is shown to possess a unique (up to translation) semi-wavefront for each admissible speed.
