In the field of radial basis functions mathematicians have been endeavouring to find infinitely differentiable and compactly supported radial functions. This kind of functions are extremely important for some reasons. First, its computational properties will be very good since it's compactly supported. Second, its error bound will converge very fast since it's infinitely differentiable. However there is hitherto no such functions which can be expressed in a simple form. This is a famous question. The purpose of this paper is to answer this question.
The present paper is focused on the comparison of the efficiency of two important meshless interpolants for gravity acceleration interpolation. Compactly-supported spherical radial basis functions and interpolating moving least squares are used to interpolate actual gravity accelerations in southern Africa. Interpolated values are compared with actual values, gathered by observation. A thorough analysis is presented for the standard deviation of the differences between interpolated and actual values. Three different class of spherical radial basis functions-Poisson, singularity, and logarithmi…
Application of Meshfree Method Based on Compactly Supported Radial Basis Function for Solving Unsteady Isothermal Gas Through a Micro-Nano Porous Medium
This paper discusses the generation of multivariate $C^\infty$ functions with compact small supports by subdivision schemes. Following the construction of such a univariate function, called \emph{Up-function}, by a non-stationary scheme based on masks of {spline subdivision schemes} of growing degrees, we term the multivariate functions we generate Up-like functions. We generate them by non-stationary schemes based on masks of box-splines of growing supports. To analyze the convergence and smoothness of these non-stationary schemes, we develop new tools which apply to a wider class of schemes …
(Bi)orthogonal (multi)wavelets on the real line have been extensively studied and employed in applications with success. A lot of problems in applications are defined on bounded intervals or domains. Therefore, it is important in both theory and application to construct all possible wavelets on intervals with some desired properties from (bi)orthogonal (multi)wavelets on the real line. Vanishing moments of compactly supported wavelets are the key property for sparse wavelet representations and are closely linked to polynomial reproduction of their underlying refinable (vector) functions. Bound…

We study the problem of approximating compactly-supported integrable functions while implementing their support set using feedforward neural networks. Our first main result transcribes this "structured" approximation problem into a universality problem. We do this by constructing a refinement of the usual topology on the space $L^1_{\operatorname{loc}}(\mathbb{R}^d,\mathbb{R}^D)$ of locally-integrable functions in which compactly-supported functions can only be approximated in $L^1$-norm by functions with matching discretized support. We establish the universality of ReLU feedforward networks …
The time-fractional porous medium equation is an important model of many hydrological, physical, and chemical flows. We study its self-similar solutions, which make up the profiles of many important experimentally measured situations. We prove that there is a unique solution to the general initial-boundary value problem in the one-dimensional setting. When supplemented with boundary conditions from the physical models, the problem exhibits a self-similar solution described with the use of the Erdélyi-Kober fractional operator. Using a backward shooting method, we show that there exists a uniqu…
